I remember one of our E-7's being promoted. The General gave him the floor. The newly minted E-8 promptly dismissed all personell below his rank in the division for the day. It was 1000 hours. Surprisingly, the General honored it, told all officers to get to work, then swore from then on, promotions will be at close of business.

In this video I remember when I went into the ARMY as a PFC, because I did 3 years ROTC and the ARMY, sent me to South Korea, and the CO,was a 1st letenuary,and I got promoted to SP4,which really surprised me because I didn't expect it, but it made me very proud because my brother just got back from Vietnam 1 tour and didn't want to talk about it but many in my family have served, just like my son who is active service and my niece just retired after 25 years as a RN
