@@kirikayumura6015 I think Hispanics are a little different because “Hispanic” isn’t really a race at all. Those countries are a mix of black, white, Native, and mixed people. The real issue is: do you look like the person you’re playing? If you have to darken or lighten your skin to look the part, that part should go to someone else
@@kirikayumura6015 this is mainly an issue because of the history of black face. Blacks were being portrayed in a very racist and derogatory fashion in the early years of cinema by white actors putting on black makeup with very ape like features. But also, if you’re from a country that is multiracial, and there are actors who are already black, then why give the role to someone who is not black. The video that Daniel Tosh showed though is a bit tricky. Those weren’t Latino actors portraying black people who were once enslaved at some point in history. Those were Filipino actors playing indigenous Filipinos who had very African features called Aetas. They are such a minority group that they have nearly zero representation within the Philippine media. And they weren’t being portrayed in a derogatory way, the show is actually showing the struggle of the impoverished and disenfranchised Aetas. It featured the Aeta, native Filipinos characterized by their darker complexion ang curly hair. I’m not trying to defend what they did because I know that in my country, the ideal is often to be tall, fair skinned, and have healthy straight hair. I believe this the reason why not many of Aeta decent enter the entertainment industry. It’s slowly changing but it’s still ways aways from being gone. I just wanted to provide context that the show was not portraying African/African-American people.
Ya the people “those people” in America might trip out (triggered), cause they don’t know that aeta exist in the Philippines and also in Thailand. With that I will leave you with an old Filipino joke. What did the white goat say to the black goat? Ey got. Joke lang, hahhahahaha.
