The M30 engine from that era are tanks. Indestructible. I have an 86 535i that I've been slowly restoring for about 8 years now. Not much you can do for increasing HP, but she still scoots pretty well. Ive restored everything from an E21 to an E39 M5 and my favorite is the shark nosed E28. Thanks for sharing your experience....
Very nice car. 👏 I had a 1984 533i from 2002 to 2010 and made some great memories with it. Ultimately it was the automatic transmission that needed replacing again and 500K miles on the engine that led to us breaking up 💔. Getting just 20 MPG as my daily driver wasn't fun. Fun was the wide open sunroof !! Best regards and enjoy your beauty 👍
I love the BMW's of the 80s and even the 70s. I don't really care what anyone says, but in my opinion those were some of the most beautiful ever made. They never really age. People laugh at me when I tell them, let me show what I really like and I'm a big fan of. It really hurts my feelings when the laugh and look at me like I'm crazy, but oh well they don't know what they are missing. BMW needs to go back to this. It's sad to me what they have become and are barely recognizable. I could be perfectly have being behind the wheel of one these. I dream to have one.
If you have tapes from when you were growing up, or can probably still buy some locally, then try to get the best OEM tape deck from e28s or e30s you can find. Then pick up from Amazon a Bluetooth cassette adapter, connect wirelessly, and stream from your phone. That's my setup on my e28. Some adapters even have a little mic dongle that hangs out of the deck opening...so you can get calls through the speakers. I always hated any aftermarket radio. They just never look right. OEM+ all the way. Classy, clean, original car deserves it. BMW Bavaria C Electronic is a great radio. Came on Euro cars, which is much nicer looking and functioning than all the North American spec e28, or any other pre 1990 BMW I've seen in NA, but is still period correct. My 2cents from experience. Cheers
Super cleeeaan. Wish I’d keep my ‘arctic blue 86 535 w cream interior. 😢😢Those euro bumps are a must, and the euro headlamps, my car did not have those. But I did wire up the rear euro fog light, if u want a new project!
Hey Alex in regards to the head unit situation maybe if you wanna keep the Bluetooth and modern functions but keep it looking oe go for the blaupunkt sqr 46 (or maybe sth among those lines)
Get yourself one of the old Becker navigation units. Superb build quality, classic looks, clean sound, and easily upgradable with Bluetooth, just plug it in. I’ve got a Becker DTM high speed myself.
Hey Alex, loving the e28 vids. I'm looking to purchase a e28 myself and first BMW car (have a '91 K100RS), and like to do a lot of my own work unless it's anything major since I park in the street as I'm also in NYC. I always like to have a knowledgeable mechanic with experience with the platform - do you have a trusted source in the city you can recommend?

Phenomenal!!
I wish my leather was in such good shape. Nice piece!
Thank you! It was a true testament to the original owner having garaged it since day 1. Leather remained soft and supple its entire life!
Remember in the 80’s a very popular car
It sure was!!

That’s what I’m leaning towards!

There are a few shops. I’ve been to BKM Auto and V&S Motor Service.
My best friend just purchased this car today from the dealer I guess you sold it too
Yes!! I sold it last week. It was time.
