Tails’ cyclone is so fun to use, especially with infinite boost. Each character feels so unique even if they’re mostly using the sonic base. Great video!
@@lemonyanva1976 I know. I like it. It’s better than using then making entirely different play styles like SA2 tbh. The similar gameplay in the classics/adventure/frontiers makes playing as different characters a bit more fun. It’s like sonic, with slightly different abilities. Perfect imo.
I had no idea how to get to the sixth emerald with Tails, then I unlocked the cyclone boost and just flew up there Tails is broken and I know that was intentional, no way it wasn't
Tails being playable is something we were all waiting to see for years, especially with the capability of fighting back and not cowering in fear just from few small Eggman robots.
I LOOVE Seeing the Tornado again. The Plasma Cannon looks incredible! Only wish It was mapped to a separate button instead of the boost and could walk. Also having a Tails swipe move would have been nice to see. But other than that Tails is a blast to use.
I am too but honestly I think they could still do better a bit. I liked that Sonic isn't the only playable character anymore but I think it would be cool if each character still had their own "story". Here it still almost kinda feels like extras.... But that's only because I haven't played final horizons yet. Maybe it will change once I actually play.

I love that Tails' parry has him holding a spring, like he isn't quite physically strong enough to parry the way Sonic and Knuckles do, so he literally bounces enemies away instead
Amy gets a triple jump, Knuckles has an Infinite Glide (and Tax Evasion Glitch MK.II), Tails gets his Cyclone, and what does Sonic get? Five towers' worth of tough-as-nails trials. Poor Sonic REALLY got the rough end of the stick compared to his friends, huh?
He also gets an enhanced power up during the final battle, then again I think it's going to be a one time thing. I was hoping they would give Sonic more skills, his tree skill is small compared to everyone else
The alternate characters are the most fun versions we ever got of them imo. They all feel different and unique and bring new platforming to the table and it really feels like every challenge was made with every character's kit in mind. I only wish the devs fixed the titan fights so trial 5 felt fair and challenging but alas guess i will just have to switch to easy mode for the master trial to avoid dealing with some of the jank like overlpaping hitboxes that can cancel parries. Can't avoid clipping jank sadly. Sonicteam made kaizo levels of difficult platforming which i did not expect and i thought it would be artificial and bad difficulty like sa2 hard mode. Nope its actual difficulty and minibosses actuallyput up a fight? They really cooked hard but maybe too hard cause like i said the titan fights are notoriously janky with knight the least janky of the trio.

I get it, Tails is a tech guy and a genius but his tail swipe not being in just feels wrong...especially for a combatish type game. I was expecting some tail slash type moves for Miles...not throwing regular wrenches at enemies who wouldnt actually be hurt by getting hit by them
It's as if they're afraid of him actually having fighting capabilities as a child so they much limit him to throwing wrenches and having to use an attack from the cyclone for real damage which requires the use of boost

I think I can sum up Tails in Sonic Frontiers in one word: 'Vergil' Once you figure out how to use him, in both traversal and combat, Tails essentially breaks the game in half.
@@igirjei3717 This is just at face value but essentially Tails can quickly move out of his opponents firing line while constantly tossing wrenches, his parry applies an attack debuff and his Cyclone Cannon can assist majorly.
@@excavalon1366 I never really managed to find a good use for the cyclone canon, gaurdians seem to attack from to far away and too frequently for me to really get to apply it in my experience
From an animation standpoint, I think this is the best Tails has ever looked (not hard to accomplish since his last 3D animations were from '06 or something). All of his idles are cool, the walking to running is clean and his flying has fluid motion and personality. My personal favorite bit is that when he runs with his arms back, it's no longer a kid-like trot he had in the Genesis games. It's like he's learning from Sonic's style of running after following him for so long.
Obnoxious difficulty spike aside it felt so good getting to control Tails again and there’s alot of what I want to see from him now in his moves though they can still push themselves with it too.
What happened to his tail swipe move from Adventure? Also what happened to his battle against the Shadow Self he spoke of that said he was just a lackey who couldn't do anything by himself, which would see him overcoming this bully and earning his new found self confidence by himself? Why even say that was a thing if they weren't going to do anything with it?
For the former, idk, good question. For the latter, they... did? The whole deal was tails had confidence issues, and by the end of chaos island, tails decided he would work on it. Combine that with the scene on rhea and some of his conversations in this update, he's definitely getting better at taking initiative and working though his struggles

Instead of it just being something for Sonic to race against, like Metal in Colors Ultimate, and like Metal in that game, nothing would change if he wasn't there. Because I really doubt the Shadow Self would suddenly leave Tails alone after Sonic's pep talk, as goes, "well butter my biscuits, I guess that's me beat..." No, it'd be looking at coming back to to kick over the building blocks of Tails' confidence that Sonic helped make a start on putting back together, unless Tails faced this bully himself. It'd be like Riders with Wave, but Tails never gets to race against her, despite her saying his tech junk meaning no chance to show her otherwise.
@@DemonDethchase honestly, if they had more updates planned or some such, I'd love it if each character had new cyberspace levels dedicated to themselves, and all of tails' levels could be races against cyber-him. Kinda the same idea as the sonic races in sa1, you have to beat sonic to prove that you can keep up with him, rather than following behind as "player 2". Here, you use your knowledge of the level to beat cyber-tails to prove that you're better than he says you are.
My only gripe is that kind of miss using his tail whip move from Adventure, especially after seeing what an updated version would be like with Project ‘06. Maybe in the next game they can add the option to change each characters moves. For example: Tails can switch from using his wrench to ring bombs.
If there's anything I'm disappointed in with Tails in this game, it's that a) he has no melee attack, b) they're still doubling down on Tails' scientist shit when he is not a scientist, he's an engineer, and c) he's so weak. xD

Being able to ride the tornado at will is an awesome unlick, but i do feel that it completely trivializes any platforming challenge when you can just fly ANYWHERE with bo restriction.
@plantgang8738 it's more about him being able to fly upwards as long as he has boost, and you can give yourself infinite boost by cylooping a figure-8. Normal Tails can only rise so high before he can rise upwards anymore (though abusing the wrench charge attack to slowly jump higher and refresh your flight stamina can achieve similar results now that I know that's a thing).
My only critique with him is that he doesn't have a single tail based attack. Should've given him at least the spinning attack from SA1. Would've been a lot better than throwing wrenches. Otherwise, the Tornado 2 is cool, and I love the return of the blaster.
It’s a shame you can’t change the music like you can in the normal game. Not that music we get is bad, it just gets old after a while. Maybe they’ll add it in another update.

ppl complain tails dont have a holming attack, im happy he does not have, he never had, i hoped his moveset would be closer to adventure but at least this little thing of not having the holming attack like the others proves how currently at least tails portrail is still of the corageus tech guy than a proper warrior like knuckles or amy(who is a hedgehog like sonic so her having the holming attack makes sense too)
I appreciate the cyclone being a part of Tails' moveset, although I wish it was more manuverable for combat if they wanted it to be his big focus. Otherwise out of everything they could have chosen, why did they make him toss wrenches?

IMO he should be able to perform melee attacks with tailsmacks and punches (probably with boxing gloves or a ring aura for more flare) and for his secondary attack be able to shoot enemies with a handgun similar to Sonic Battle except he shoots rings instead of slow plasma blasts and throw bombs for his Cycloop variant, it can even replace his regular cyloop so he cant use his infinite boost nerfing his Cyclone. Also get rid of the flight cap if he doesnt have a homing attack.
Seriously why can't they just give Tails his tail spin attack back? Like, what was so wrong about it that they had to replace with that goofy wrench tossing attack? Also it would be pretty cool if his Cyclone changed forms depending where you use it like it would become an Airplane while in the air while it would become a mech on the ground. I actually don't know why they haven't done that already. It's not like they don't have a model for the airplane mode Cyclone. It literally appears in the opening cutscene.
Yeah I agree tails is definitely the least fun character out of all the 3. But imma say some positives, and mostly negatives about tails in frontiers. Positives tails has the shortest parry time compared to amy or knuckles meaning tails for timing requires the most skill for guardian combat. The 400 rings for the cyclone I think is a good idea to be balanced against The ghost guardian, where you can’t beat ghost that easily, or making fighting silver hammer or spider+ way more difficult. and the cyclone for combat does give you a disadvantage because it’s attack basically makes you stand still, where it’s only useful if the enemy is stunned for a long time. or the long start up for cyclone where it gives no i frames, at all meaning in extreme difficulty you can’t boost with tails in guardian combat if your at max rings, unless you activate ghost, and then leave ghost once you don’t have 400 rings anymore, or in hard difficulty to use tails most OP attack, you need to no hit the enemies, or never mess up the parry against the enemies. And that’s about it for positives for tails. Imma go on the negatives now. Tails attacks are terrible legit some skill tree items tails has is useless the buffed parry tails has is suppose to “nerf the enemy power” that means nothing in extreme difficulty the enemies are bullet sponges, in update 3. also The wrench attacks is basically telling me that they 100% expect you to only use the Cyloop attacks, or maybe tails cyclone attack, to beat enemies because the reason why tails attacks are bad or god awful, is because Tails cyloop or special cyloop destroys Spider+ and silver hammer+, because once spider+ is stunned and you spam cyloop it basically changes colours, and you can 1 shot destroy it once you do enough cyloops, and Silver hammer+ cyloop bypasses it’s bullet sponge health. And this is only useful if you get tails max damage stats which is to easy, it also straight up inf combos or long combos, Tank+ Caterpillar+ and master ninja+ due to the Cyloop abilities because if these cyloop abilities did not exist, tails amy and Knuckles would have way more attacks because the problem of having 2 cyloop attacks this OP, is because why would anyone else use other attacks. Also tails cyclone bypasses all the platforming challenges, in only a few button pressed basically no effort at all, making tails boring to play, because tails is basically spectator mode. The only reason I can think of why I think they added the Cyclone is, I think the devs knew tails did not offer much compared to knuckles and Amy. Also I don’t know why tails don’t have a homing attack, aside from they wanted to make all of tails attacks range based so you have to aim, Or let the game auto aim for you. But at least tails is just boring to play in frontiers at least, and I know it’s play tested, it’s not trial 5 on extreme difficulty, because I’m convinced Wyvern in trial 5 is not play tested in extreme difficulty at all. Well at least I can enjoy most of update 3, because I just mentioned the only 2 issues, I have with update 3.
Ill never understand why they just could not make a simple Sonic game ghat doesnt require so much fighting or combo attacks. Sonic on his adventures would have been nice for Frontiers, to demonstrate an open world game exploring places.
@@haospacman1084 I genuinely thought, like many others when the trailer launched; that it would truly be an exploration type world. Although every original Sonic game for me 30 years ago was point A to point B, you could still explore hidden areas. There should have been the campaign version and a discover option to roam freely. Like Tails could explore all the islands looking for parts to rebuild the Tornado. Each character with their own discovery story to help Sonic and Robotnik.

@@TheRebelTitan55 so 13 years since we’ve played as Tails, and it has to be in the most insanely difficult DLC. I know Forces was as easy as just holding a button, but this is ridiculous. First Sega updates PSO2 NGS with Dark Falz Solus, which might as well require the best gear in the game, and then they release this for Sonic Frontiers, and I have no desire to play it just because of how hard it is, and how many people said that the boss rush was unfair, and mandatory to actually unlocking the new ending.

Tails is broken when it comes to his mech and just traveling around the map. Wish he got a homing attack though
Love the way they did with tails he is not a coward and hiding behind sonic all the time. I also like that he is fast like sonic which he should be.

Unfortunetly yes.
Being able to ride the tornado at will is an awesome unlick, but i do feel that it completely trivializes any platforming challenge when you can just fly ANYWHERE with bo restriction.
It's tails.even without it you could still fly.
They found a work around for some of his challenges.
Make it so you have to go through the challenge to even unlock the reward.
@plantgang8738 it's more about him being able to fly upwards as long as he has boost, and you can give yourself infinite boost by cylooping a figure-8.
Normal Tails can only rise so high before he can rise upwards anymore (though abusing the wrench charge attack to slowly jump higher and refresh your flight stamina can achieve similar results now that I know that's a thing).

My only critique with him is that he doesn't have a single tail based attack. Should've given him at least the spinning attack from SA1. Would've been a lot better than throwing wrenches.
Otherwise, the Tornado 2 is cool, and I love the return of the blaster.
It’s a shame you can’t change the music like you can in the normal game. Not that music we get is bad, it just gets old after a while. Maybe they’ll add it in another update.
And to add insilt to injury, they didn't even add in more songs in the jukebox.

You can play Tails after the final boss, as long as you don't start a new game.
ppl complain tails dont have a holming attack, im happy he does not have, he never had, i hoped his moveset would be closer to adventure but at least this little thing of not having the holming attack like the others proves how currently at least tails portrail is still of the corageus tech guy than a proper warrior like knuckles or amy(who is a hedgehog like sonic so her having the holming attack makes sense too)

I appreciate the cyclone being a part of Tails' moveset, although I wish it was more manuverable for combat if they wanted it to be his big focus. Otherwise out of everything they could have chosen, why did they make him toss wrenches?

They definitely could expand his move set more then they did. Maybe in Frontiers 2.

IMO he should be able to perform melee attacks with tailsmacks and punches (probably with boxing gloves or a ring aura for more flare) and for his secondary attack be able to shoot enemies with a handgun similar to Sonic Battle except he shoots rings instead of slow plasma blasts and throw bombs for his Cycloop variant, it can even replace his regular cyloop so he cant use his infinite boost nerfing his Cyclone. Also get rid of the flight cap if he doesnt have a homing attack.

Seriously why can't they just give Tails his tail spin attack back? Like, what was so wrong about it that they had to replace with that goofy wrench tossing attack? Also it would be pretty cool if his Cyclone changed forms depending where you use it like it would become an Airplane while in the air while it would become a mech on the ground. I actually don't know why they haven't done that already. It's not like they don't have a model for the airplane mode Cyclone. It literally appears in the opening cutscene.
Yeah I agree tails is definitely the least fun character out of all the 3.
But imma say some positives, and mostly negatives about tails in frontiers.
Positives tails has the shortest parry time compared to amy or knuckles meaning tails for timing requires the most skill for guardian combat.
The 400 rings for the cyclone I think is a good idea to be balanced against The ghost guardian, where you can’t beat ghost that easily, or making fighting silver hammer or spider+ way more difficult.
and the cyclone for combat does give you a disadvantage because it’s attack basically makes you stand still, where it’s only useful if the enemy is stunned for a long time.
or the long start up for cyclone where it gives no i frames, at all meaning in extreme difficulty you can’t boost with tails in guardian combat if your at max rings, unless you activate ghost, and then leave ghost once you don’t have 400 rings anymore, or in hard difficulty to use tails most OP attack, you need to no hit the enemies, or never mess up the parry against the enemies.
And that’s about it for positives for tails.
Imma go on the negatives now.
Tails attacks are terrible legit some skill tree items tails has is useless the buffed parry tails has is suppose to “nerf the enemy power” that means nothing in extreme difficulty the enemies are bullet sponges, in update 3.
also The wrench attacks is basically telling me that they 100% expect you to only use the Cyloop attacks, or maybe tails cyclone attack, to beat enemies because the reason why tails attacks are bad or god awful, is because Tails cyloop or special cyloop destroys Spider+ and silver hammer+, because once spider+ is stunned and you spam cyloop it basically changes colours, and you can 1 shot destroy it once you do enough cyloops, and Silver hammer+ cyloop bypasses it’s bullet sponge health.
And this is only useful if you get tails max damage stats which is to easy, it also straight up inf combos or long combos, Tank+ Caterpillar+ and master ninja+ due to the Cyloop abilities because if these cyloop abilities did not exist, tails amy and Knuckles would have way more attacks because the problem of having 2 cyloop attacks this OP, is because why would anyone else use other attacks.
Also tails cyclone bypasses all the platforming challenges, in only a few button pressed basically no effort at all, making tails boring to play, because tails is basically spectator mode. The only reason I can think of why I think they added the Cyclone is, I think the devs knew tails did not offer much compared to knuckles and Amy.
Also I don’t know why tails don’t have a homing attack, aside from they wanted to make all of tails attacks range based so you have to aim, Or let the game auto aim for you.
But at least tails is just boring to play in frontiers at least, and I know it’s play tested, it’s not trial 5 on extreme difficulty, because I’m convinced Wyvern in trial 5 is not play tested in extreme difficulty at all. Well at least I can enjoy most of update 3, because I just mentioned the only 2 issues, I have with update 3.
I hope we get a game with silver in the spotlight again

Ill never understand why they just could not make a simple Sonic game ghat doesnt require so much fighting or combo attacks. Sonic on his adventures would have been nice for Frontiers, to demonstrate an open world game exploring places.
I like how completely ignored every other sonic game. Seriously, 80% of Sonic games don't require combat and combos. Supstars also exists

@@haospacman1084 I genuinely thought, like many others when the trailer launched; that it would truly be an exploration type world. Although every original Sonic game for me 30 years ago was point A to point B, you could still explore hidden areas. There should have been the campaign version and a discover option to roam freely. Like Tails could explore all the islands looking for parts to rebuild the Tornado. Each character with their own discovery story to help Sonic and Robotnik.

I think that’s more of an option to exit out of the Character Swap menu. Kind of like the “I’m good” options for the Elder and Hermit Koco.

@@TheRebelTitan55 so 13 years since we’ve played as Tails, and it has to be in the most insanely difficult DLC. I know Forces was as easy as just holding a button, but this is ridiculous. First Sega updates PSO2 NGS with Dark Falz Solus, which might as well require the best gear in the game, and then they release this for Sonic Frontiers, and I have no desire to play it just because of how hard it is, and how many people said that the boss rush was unfair, and mandatory to actually unlocking the new ending.

For everyone, but Sonic.. it actually DOES greatly increase their speed.
But for Sonic, it just gives him infinite Power Boost and faster climb speed.
