- EverQuest launches its 30th expansion, Laurion's Song, while EverQuest II is celebrating 20 expansions with Ballads of Zimara.
The EverQuest Show has reviews of both expansions on this episode!
Laurion's Song enters the Realm of Heroes with 7 new zones, a level increase to 125 and a new feature called Alternate Personas.

Thank you Fading!! Always enjoy you EQ updates!
Hello all! And thanks for continuing to support the channel!
Couple of notes, the edits for Laurion's Song was completed right before Laurion's Song was launched, so Alternate Personas have changed a bit since Beta (when the story was completed). Also, I didn't have a chance to try Chronodungeons for Ballads of Zimara.
Otherwise, what are your thoughts on the expansions?
Fading
The visuals are so stunning to look at . I'm glad your channel is alive and well to cover this. (applause)
I'm glad you enjoyed your romp through the Ballads of Zimara! :)
I REALLY did! And thank you for your assistance! And I hope my review was accurate and helpful!
WhooHoo! I went from a TLP to FV just so i could catch up to this new stuff. Looks great!
I already gave you my thoughts on the expansion when you popped in during the beta, but I'm kind of curious to hear about how the Anhekfen are storied in the Laurian's Song expansion in EverQuest. According to the lore, the Rathe's Curse was far more severe on them compared to the other Rallosian races. Ogres lost their intelligence; Orcs lost the ability to record their own history and were splintered into tribes; the Giants were scattered across Norrath when their homelands were turned into Everfrost Peaks. The Anhexfen -- They were just straight up turned extinct. The Goblin races we know (and sometimes love) were created when Brell Serilis used his Clay of Cosgrove to rebuild from the "blueprints" of what the Anhexfen used to be. They were just completely obliterated from history.
this isnt how it reads in the lore. the goblins are of rallosian creation. and they were punished same as the giants. they were scattered to 4 parts of the world, with their memories of their other tribes erased. the original name for the goblins race was Ankfexen.
Fantastic work! Another great installment of The EverQuest Show!
sweet thanks for showing the music
Oh oh ooh! Another everquest show!
Thank you for all you do keeping us up to date on the game, Fading!
Just found the channel while trying to decide if I want to come back and searching for information on the latest expansion. Good work. I will be watching back episodes.
I just found this channel and I want to play both games now. It's gotta be a ton of work to do weekly, but now I'm subbed, so keep at it lol
Great Show!
Breath taking Everquest loving it !!!!
With this production quality, Darkpaw should be paying you for making this show!
This is truly amazing content! Fantastic! The content is captivating and the graphics look amazing! Thanks, Fading!
Amazing to see EQ has gotten 30 expansions!
Gah, I made level 110 on my main last weekend, closest I have been to max level since....2003 (Erudite SK made the day they made that possible). Then 3 days later, 15 levels away again ;)
the Giant tree sort of reminds me of the old NES game,... Faxanadu.
Not an active player, but man I love seeing EQ keeping on. I can't believe how much mileage they've gotten out of the engine
Great stuff as always Fading
Happy for the live players but TLPs be for Me
I Can’t wait to check out these expansions !!
That intro music is awesome, thanks for all you do man. Anyway in or out of game I can show you some love, plat kr what ever
Honestly it looks really good and I'm excited
Glad I subscribed! your videos are great!
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the nice comment and for supporting the channel!
That's my boy cwunk..... I understand nothing, but that's my boy doin the work.
Fun Song
I am absolutely gob smacked by the visuals in both games! But I'm especially taken with the new creature designs in EQ. Those goblins are fantastic! The deer and chickens are miles above anything they've created in the past. The teams of both games have outdone themselves with these expansions.
Next tlp should take advantage of all the expansions somehow. I'd love to be able to play through 25years of expansions with the population of a tlp
That's literally what every single TLP does. They start at classic and unlock each expansion over time.
It seems that the Venn diagram of people who play TLP and who play live has very little overlap. The TLP usually has a terminal xpac which marks the end of what TLP players are interested in. For EQ2 it's typically Destiny of Velious. Not sure abut original EQ.
In my experience on TLPs, though, folks stop playing after Planes of Power. I think the comment was meant maybe the visuals change? I'm not sure. But, yeah, they always die off before you get to current state of the game. @@EverQuestShow
Good to see another fellow Manhattan EQplayer, cheers from NOMAD! I'm liking the expansion so far, I like how the Heros Forge Mission is not box friendly, to make people group up to do it. I just wish there were more missions. In regards to Personas I hope alt absorbing becomes a thing.
I hope next expansion brings some new spells or AA's that can change up playstyles a little bit.
I like how you said 2024 is going to be a huge year for the franchise while showing off footage from fan faires. ;)
You have sold the new eq2 expansion really well. The fact that they added music might actually make me want to hop back in. I just can't stand the 1 shot killing of monsters in the overland zones. Wish they would just fix that. It would make the game so much better
World of Warcraft has a large amount of TH-cam content that hits on the soundtracks. I've seen a few individuals that do music and I've found a few collections, but I'd love a full extraction and/or set of music for each Everquest / Everquest 2 expansion.
Might be the geek in me, but I still listen to the World of Warcraft soundtracks in my truck on the way to my farm on the weekends.
you the man fade
EQ Personas are now FFXIV jobs? I love it!
That’s what I thought after hearing it, played both EQ and FFXI for many years. 😍
kinda, but you are limited to 3 unless you purchase more slots, cant change anywhere, and have to re grind AAs, and lets not start with the storage which is done really well in FFXIV... in EQ not so much.@@phantasystar4688
I always play with sound on (both in eq1 and eq2). But I don't think the devs do, 25 years and music still loops on repeat in eq1 with no good sound options :P
Noob question: Is this expansion needed to level over level 125? If so, it makes sense since I'm stuck at level 125. Maybe a stupid question.
I wonder if this is fading illusion, my old GM from EQ years ago.
Server:Tunare
guild name : Force of Valor
Yes! Yes it is!
Random bob, goruk, merlyn, ranch and akamodan! We wondered were ya went! Let's catch up sometime!
OMG Fading from FoV!
That's me!
@@EverQuestShow Hey mate - Are you still active on Tunare? I'm getting the itch to return again.
I'm curious where did you get the opening song from?
It plays at Wyndham timeshares on their promo TV channel. I've wondered this myself.
Check the end credits! =)
🙂
Unfortunately it is too common that without spoilers one could complete all the content and not understand a couple critical plot points
I do not think the people who are running the Everquest franchise have any clue on how to make a new everquest game. Seems like they just got left the old code and just pump out expansions. I think there are more active players playing all the EMUs than live at this point. Maybe it is time they sell the rights to a studio who can do something with the IP.
