I used to watch these programs on P.B.S. with my Dad . He was borne in 1919 Neatherlands. I'm 55 U.S.A. we both loved British Commedy. This is a favorite. I miss him but the show helps me to remember good time's laughing with Dad. Thanks for the memories
The old gent n the light tan jacket. Is "Are you being served" British comedy from the early 70's. Anyone remember? He stars with John Inman. I recognized his voice.
Frank Thornton was the actor who also played the pompous floorwalker Capt. Peacock in AYBS [who claimed he fought Rommel in the desert, etc. but was actually in the catering corps he got his captaincy the last day of the war over an ingrown toenail]. as Miss Bhrams [played by the late Wendy Richard] would say he was a 'pompous nit' very different character from Truly of the Yard. Truly would have not liked Peacock and vice versa shows what a good actor he was.
If you love this, search First of the Summer wine. I don't believe their alot of videos, But you get a better Ideal of their relationship. And it even discusses cleggs diary.
JRRnotTolkien Ah yes, our Edie. Always going on about how our Seymour was so smart and how Barry works for a building society. My favorite though was her posh talk whenever she shouted out the door to the shed. Instead of Wesley it was Wez-lay lol
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"
If anyone knows of anyone who posts these shows without cutting off a lot of the show, let me know please. Thomas and another guy named Charles Fettig posts many of these shows, but both cut-off the credits and so the show too. Both of these guys are the only two who show up as posters.
Frank Thornton was in are you being served as well as last if the summer wine with the actor who played mr lucus as was the actor who played Mr rumbold but never in the same sceen
Recently came across something with the two policeman and it was awful; was slovenly and totally unexceptionable!! Should have been spit and polish, filled with those terrific yarns to get out of situations! Would be nice to see those two actors again, this time done correctly!
they tried to make a series but the bbc wouldn't give it to them so they asked the public for help in giving the money so it would be made but not many gave.
Ya know if they would of replaced Bill that passed away with his hon as another version of Bill I really feel this show would have not failed as much as it did!?! What was the producer thinking??? The goofball with the oriental friend as a secondary Comedy friend just doesn’t do it!
Love this show and all the characters!!! Just wish they had done up Aunty a little bit better with better wig or hairdo and some color in her face. She begs to be done up a little!
I read that the two of them wrote a 6 part series but the BBC turned it down. They also tried to do a stage show which also got know where. Personally it would have been wonderful on TV and one of those sea side summer shows. Never understood that the BBC did not make more of the First of the Sumer-wine, perhaps not enough boxes were ticked. British comedy is dead from the neck up, I never watch anything of these modern so called box ticking comedy. They are just a load of rubbish, there seems no decent comedy writers left.
The program has lost an icon when Compo died and it’s not as funny anymore! Compo made the series so hilarious but replacing him with a Ning nong who tries his best to imitate the real Compo it just isn’t the same!

This was a great show! Compo really made it great! Unfortunately, I don’t think any of the cast are alive anymore!
Love this show shame it ended, but to be fair there isn't many of the cast left. But it was feel good TV and a classic.
The startled cop left me laughing out loud - first time of my day. Appreciated. Oh, and I like the voice of Wallace (of Wallace and Grommet fame)
Norman clegg
@Jimmy L Needham Thanks for the info, and for the spelling correction.

Yes, his name is Frank Thornton, he was Captain Peacock on Are You Being Served.
As Compo used to say 'I'm goin' to get myself in top psychical condition to tackle Nora Batty'! That always made me laugh!
I'd love to live there, so beautiful
Is that the same area where All Creatures Great and Small was set?
Homefirth I want to go over one day as well
Howard is an hilarious dunce!!!🤣😍😋
Burt Kwan and Stephen Lewis in the same show. magic.
"The worse that could happen is she'll probably wash and dry him!" Brilliant!
Takeshi Hiraoka love how did your husband know you were ready for Courting? So many wonderful lines and terrific actors. Blessings.
2 police made this programme wish they had their own series
such a gentle, funny depiction of people
I think to myself, what a wonderful world. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I always tell them I'm a Lunatic I'm not allowed to make decisions. Well I suppose it's better than lying.

How did the writers keep coming up with stories after so many years.
Yes,they always came up with amusing storylines.
It was all written by Roy Clarke.

Barry’s hat IS a bit overpowering 🤣🤣
Yes I second that something to do with the policemen. That would be hilarious.

Was that Terry Pratchett sitting at the bar!?!?
The butterfly woman or whatever she represents at the intro has such a haunting melody.
Barry should throw the cap at Glenda and tell her to wear it.
Some of the outdoor scenes look COLD. Were they?
R.I.P - Robert Fyfe
the music is fab
Why can't Howard ignore Pearl sometimes and just do what he wants when she bawls and screams at him
He does ignore her when he goes creeping off with Marina.
HE WANTS TO LIVE A LITTLE LONGER ! 😁
Barry longest knight of the year

Aunty has got money in the bank, she doesn't wear it, old Yorkshire custom .
@@bcampbell6823 touche! Nice one!

With the setting at 720p this blurry mess wasn't even 360p, such deceit caused the dislike icon to move from 105 to 106.
