- The bar was pretty punchy this morning and a few boats got some quite impressive air on the way out. Too much action for one video so I'll do a couple. Apart from the 'Gnarly Bar' scenario it was quite pleasant at the river mouth though, with a light 3 to 5 knot north westerly breeze blowing. BOM forecast: Northerly winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas: Around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres by early evening. Swell: Easterly around 1 metre inshore, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres offshore. Filmed between 5.40am and 6.50am which was a couple of hours before a 2.03m high tide. Background Music: 'I Just Wanna Be Great' (Instrumental)... by NEFFEX.

Crazy how he puts his life jacket on AFTER going through the worst of it.
Yeah, it's a bit like putting the seatbelt on after crashing the car into a tree.......You can't fix stupid.
Thought same thing what a dope
Guess you people have never met North Queenslanders before, these are not considered extreme conditions at all for some Australian waters.
@@fuzzy5610 North Queensland? The conditions get more severe the further south you go anyway! Yeah north has big tides but it’s mostly shallow and protected by reefs but go south and you find the continental shelf closer to the mainland and those ocean swells with it QLD knows nothing about rough water!
Big vote of no confidence when the life jacket went on 😂
I loved how well you timed the bass hit as the boat comes down at 2:33. That was perfect timing
Fantastic footage and music choice - one of your best.
Wow that was well worth the watch thanks for sharing
That was hard to watch 🤣 I would never go out with that driver again
My favorite video of this channel : some scenario, some action, 2 good actors, some thrill then the end, all that with some great music, really well done !
Seriously I have no words to describe this.
They got lucky this time.
Craig ! The words your looking for are 'FU%K 'n CLOWNS' !!!!!!
Their timing is ridiculous
No lifejackets - talk about stupidity.
“Let’s wait here looking at the small swell and wait for it to get bigger” said Chris.
“Great idea” Paul replied, knowing that his mate was a Qualified Captain and that living at Noosa made him an expert on almost everything.
Chris had been living there for a year since moving from Melbourne though so was quite the expert waterman at this point to be fair to him.
😂😂😂
Gnarly, sending it tru the faces, respect!!
Outstanding video!
When your cruise becomes a flight...
Great time to put on their PFD’s.
Good job!!!!👍👍
Good one Bill! 👏🙏⚓️
Glad to see the subscribers adding up a bit. 😉
I hope they brought back a few fish for their efforts.
We've had to turn around a few times on that bar. Found some good spots in the river because of it too
You don't have to keep going out. You can always turn around a follow a wave in, reset yourself. You can also parallel run (sideways) between waves. Guys forget this and get tunnel vision
Similar thing happened to me crossing the Mallacoota bar many years ago in a Stessl 550. The waves kept coming and grew bigger each time. The big difference was we were wearing our lifejackets and the Yammy didn't shit itself. Anyway, my wife didn't say a word to me for over an hour so afterwards.......it was worth the serenity 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Seriously though, it scared the shit out me and my wife and I've never really forgiven myself for putting her in that dangerous scenario. Bar crossings are dangerous, wear you bloody life jacket!!!
yeah, been on something similar on my local bar, you think you've only got one more wave and another swells up. Told my missus to hold on. Another time my motor stalled in 8' surf, really thought we were going to be turned over
Only one life jacket at that. Not the brightest bulbs.
His first mistake was getting boat out of the shed
Second mistake your dad should have pulled out
That’s just crazy🎉🎉
Front hatch is unsecured .
NOW, he puts on the life jacket.
If they wanted to challenge that boat that's certainly the way to do it.
Lifejackets always on before crossing any bar - even when it looks flat.
That scared me man big waves I’m a land lover 💪💪👍👍❤️😀😀🦘🇦🇺
They were so lucky that the wave set ended just when the boat stopped
That’s crazy!!
Obviously not locals and really smart to put your life jacket on after the event 😮
Captain lost a boat friend lol. "Hey Tom, you wanna get out on the boat next week?" "no mate....buy a bigger boat..."
Man I'd never take that risk...crazy
Surprised they even had a motor after that last one! Geebuz
Very Lucky
That looked fun except for the last two. Git to give it to them they kept on board and kept going
We have a choice of 3 bars too cross, kaituna, maketu or pukehina bar the hole is generally left on all 3 but you look for blue water or swell peaking but not breaking, if it's breaking that's a sand bank underneath, due diligence check bar before dropping in at ramp, hard at pukehina but the other 2 you can drive too the mouth and check ,even better go there at low tide and walk across see the deepest at low tide, if your going midtide Allgood once you get through, look back and get a land mark, tree, house or roof colour so when you come back you've got the same line in, I'm still hearing of boats in trouble there, be safe ,if the swells there don't do it unless your a local or a local surfer outdabak
Lucky that motor didn't get swamped on the last two vertical landings..no life jackets on the way out...no brains...totally unprepared for the conditions and bloody lucky
Big balls mate, ...
All the best from South Africa
At least he didn’t panic
No life jackets, forward hatch is not dogged down and is fully open at the end, motor stalls just outside the bar. They got LUCKY.
I'm not very experienced at bar crossings by any stretch of the imagination but...
Forward hatch not secure to prevent damage and water ingress.
Toy life jackets AND not worn on what I believe is a notorious bar.
Panic mode when engine stalls, understandable maybe?
A responsible Skipper should know all this and more importantly....
his own limits and genuine skill.
Just saying.
Did well considering. He mistimed the sets but made the best of the situation. Picked his line (although may've been wrong) and controlled the boat best he could.
Very well handled I thought.
@@internetjunkie1000 A series of larger waves comes in followed by a series of smaller waves. Wait for the big ones to go then make a run for it.
Watch the waves next time you go down to the sea.
Those guys have balls of steel and can take on hell and the devil. Well done I am jealous. You are supreme.
...and brains of jelly.
After the big drama, NOW 3:08 they put their life safety gear on. Some bright Aussie needs to make and rent Life Safety Gear for the boat itself. 😀
There are times that I have seen the bar flat calm.
But then again I have watched boats from Gympie Terrace-no life jacket-cans of beer everywhere etc.
Dont know how some of them survive the bar.
Mind you if you have ever seen the Hokianga Bar in NZ that is something again
Those two would have been entertaining on a rough day.
Heavy!😂
Hold my beer!!!
Good effort holding on how did they not loose anything outta the boat..
Smart with no life jackets
Yeah but how many times have you seen a swamp in a turn around in short period swells like this. Good he did not vacillate and played it "steady on" and lucked out.
Looked like they had it under control till the stall. Captain solved the problem before they got pushed back inside. His passenger was getting ready to abandon ship. Probably following orders from the Captain. But I have never been in a boat. I have never read a boring sea tale either!
He didnt back off the throttle as he crested the wave forcing the boat skyward, that was his biggest mistake
3:10, perfect time to start figuring out a life jacket.
I bet they were packing it coming back in....whew!
Hope the fish were on the chew!!
Hard work to go fishing in my opinion!!
Oh mate!
Darwin Award!
Good job ..where are you where waves are that big ..mid west coast ..
Noosa, Sunshine Coast: goo.gl/maps/uXggN33Nk2ih7XZC6
10out of 10 for skill. 0 out of 10 for judgement
Talk about having a angel on you’re shoulder if that motor stalled while they were still in the break god!!!
Great Video...but I thought you were gonna make it thru all that only to be creamed in the side by a frikkin jet-ski...
These kind of dills usually make the nightly news for the wrong reasons.
They were lucky this time.
Fish? What fish?
Both not wearing life jackets. Darwin never sleeps.
Ill prepared. No life jackets. I can't believe how irresponsible people are with their own safety.
Trust me mate, I know boats phew we made it luckily. Oh yeah you probably should put a life jacket on. Or sell your boat and take up lawn bowls.
you can smell their fear
Scary
The got smashed but handled it well until they stalled the engine. shoulda had pfds on from the start.
We do this for fun
Where were you able to be so still with the camera? This is a neat video!
Tripod.
Would not catch me on a boat in the ocean without a two motors
Maybe bit lighter on throttle would have been wiser...positive forward motion but not punching hard into swell
At that point it’s hammer down and hope you know what you’re doing
Spray and pray baby
Now they put their life jackets on
Lucky the donk restarted after it went under.
I don’t think he’ll be rushing to go through it at any time soon. Stay with whiting & flathead.
Although he missed the wave timing, he did a pretty good job with the throttle control to keep the bow up and get through the breakers.
These very inexperienced people got very lucky this time
I disagree i think the opposite
What are they, suicidal? No life jackets on until they’re out in the clear!!! 😂
What was the outboard on that boat?
Did that entire outboard go under water lol
And no life jackets...unbelievable.
Boat For Sale!!!😅👍🏼
Thanks everyone s boat insurance just went up another few dollars
In today's installment of.......what *NOT* to do when crossing a Bar
So they stop right at the back of the sets to put their life jackets on 🤯
They stalled
@Jimmy Mack yep. May have been ab idea to pop the lifeys on a little earlier though
Was that really worth it?
Left the life jackets on the boat ramp?
Maybe a bit to keen on the throtle ha ha ha
So many things wrong here….. in South Africa 90% of launches are surf launches, into much tougher conditions. This guy would get reamed by the other skippers if he launched like this. I will grant that the sea is infinitely unpredictable, and that we have all misjudged before. Tmy complaint is about the technique….
I'm from the states, what kind of boat is that a Whittley?
Haines Signature.
Just a few bust ups, lost a few chooks.
Recovery 😅
The worst part is. They have to come back in eventually.
Bet they catch a wave in.
Brave, especially with a Mercury 🫢
first rule of bar crossing is put on a life jacket!
No life jackets on in those conditions....smart. Also obvious they have never surfed in their life time.
Cool vid!
Music is terrible!
I'd rather hear the ocean and their SCREAMS! Lol 🤣
No life jackets and I’m sure no kill switch on that outboard powered boat! Boat turn into meat grinder! 🙁
Who was recording?
Me.
Not a boatie but... is this boat too heavily weighted toward the back?
Yes
It's a Deep V thing. It's good but will kill you if you dunno what you are doing.
