The 3D wasn’t that good?? Pach, are you crazy?! Every now and again I boot up the 3DS and I am constantly stunned with how incredible the glasses-free 3D effect is. “How are they doing this magic??”
Gamecube was actually great at the time. Online gaming was barely getting off the ground on Xbox (which meant only if you wanted to play Halo), so it was the defacto party console. Just pick it up with some controllers and take it a friends house. I remember in college people would take it down to the common area's TV after Friday lunch and just play smash, welcoming all challengers.
The GameCube, Wii, and Wii U all supported backward compatibility. Despite this, the Wii was a major success, while the Wii U struggled. The transition from Wii U to the Switch broke this backward compatibility trend, yet the Switch still achieved significant success. Backwards compatibility is not a critical factor. My guess is that the quality of the user experience is what will determine the success of Switch 2.
Lol its definitely not coming out next fall or even next summer. The numerous reports from February all said its been pushed back from late 2024 to early 2025, so roughly a 4 or 5 month delay. Looking at how dry the Switch's lineup looks this fall, its easy to see how the Switch 2 was originally intended to come out this year.
The Switch 2 won't sell as well, simply because of the market penetration of the Switch. And thew new console is still another underrpowered device, so for many people, there will not be a compelling reason to upgrade. And this doesn't necessarily need to be a bad thing. if they release cross gen games, they will continue to do well with the old generation, and allow their hardcore fans to upgrade to better hardware.
No. The Xbox could also play DVDs and also failed. The real reason both Xbox and GameCube failed is because all three consoles were too similar to one another. Most people could only choose one of the three, and they overwhelmingly chose the PS2.

The success of the Switch 2's hardware will depend on how much more powerful the device is and how good the LCD display will be.

if they have a 3d mario ready at launch it will be a continuous success. if they have a new mario kart or melee the switch 2 will steamroll everything
