I have a tendency to draw and hold high...now I m wondering if my loop should be lowered..thx for the idea of checking that again...man I love shooting a bow! Great video!
It's redirecting how your brain focuses some. At first it helps to squint the non dominant eye a little to shift the full focus into the dominant eye. After a while, your mind will know the process and what the outcome needs to be and direct the focus into the dominant eye easier and easier.
BoricuaHunter when I open my other eye I focus on the sights and then I take a mental picture of that, then I look outwards towards the target, i use a high glow on my pin sight so that while im looking at the target the pin point glows and i align that pin with the target where I want to hit and that helps me.....you assuming you stuck with archery may have already found a way that works for you but if not or if you decide to come back to archery hopefully this helps you out a bit.
I,ve had to watch this 4 times before it all sunk in :) Brilliant video again! I do find my float pattern is up and down slightly, as in from the centre to below the gold. I,m thinking about trying small tiller adjustments in both directions now. The subconscious aiming as others have mentioned is the real challenge to master! I feel like your becoming Yoda lol Thanks, Steve.
Glad you liked it, Steve! Thanks for watching it! I go over the process of developing subconscious aiming in my instructional video on, "How to Shrink Your Groups & Raise Your Averages." You can find it on my Vimeo page or in dvd from from my website as well. www.rcrchery.com vimeo.com/172613426
Great video once again! The thing that hit home for me is the float and trusting your subconscious mind. I find myself focusing to much on where the pin is and try to correct it and I no that I shouldn't but it is a bad habit. Any tips on keeping a consistent firing engine?
It's all about the shot timing. Sometimes it is smooth and can execute the shot in 4 or five seconds which is the best float pattern for me. Other times it goes over that and I find myself trying to hard to keep the pin on target. That's when I start to correct my pin placement.
It's possible it's how the release is set up and how you're using it. The method of execution could be needing changed or tweaked to help work with you better. Making sure you have a trigger set heavy enough to pre load it before the shot is big, or on a hinge, making sure you have it set slow enough to add in some pressure from the outside fingers to begin with. Those would each help. Changing up the method if you're hanging up to take away that element could possibly work too. If you're hanging on the index not relaxing, take that out of the equation with a different method. I have a couple videos and articles on different methods to use and if you need to I have a coaching package to help with this as well.
I am using a Carter index finger release and I do have the heaviest spring in it. I think you are right and I am not preloading the trigger the same on those shots. It is something that I will focus on and maybe I will sign up for one of you coaching packages in the future. I might get your videos first though. I no on a lot of your preview videos your getting right to something I want to see and you cut to the next clip. Lol Thank you
Try focusing on feeling the trigger against the index as you work through the shot. It might help things flow easier for you, more consistently. Just focus on putting the pad of the finger through the trigger.
Great tips for all archers. You really have a knack of focusing on the issues with aiming and breaking that next wall that most archers don't consider. look forward to working with you soon! When you shoot do you try to match your breathing to fire at the same point each shot? I've been shooting like I do a rifle and firing on the exhale but the body seems to relax too much on the exhale. just curious on your thoughts.
I've found the same thing on the exhale. I take a full breath before drawing and then exhale at anchor a little bit, then hold my breath till the shot fires. How much air you have in your lungs will affect where you hold vertically on target, so you can work around with different amounts to find where you hold on center the best without dropping down.
I noticed when you release fires it causes your eyes to blink real quick. Does this effect your ability to watch the arrow flight to the target. Just curious. Love your videos. Very informative. I was having some holding problems until I tried some of your tips Thanks, they work
Glad the tips are helping!! I don't watch arrow flight. That's a bad habit to get into because you'll start moving the bow hand at the last second to peek and you'll get misses. The blink is coming because it's a surprise shot.
I am a 51 year old disabled ARMY veteran and I am doing the adaptive sports program at the Temple Texas VA I recently bought a compound bow from a pawn shop to shot archery competitions a friend of mine who is in the same program put a new string on it I was using my fingers to shot it before the new string but now I use a wolf release. I where glasses and when I try to look through my peep sight the lens frame gets in my way making it hard to see through my sight can you help me ?
what arrow would you recommend for 3-D,,, flat shooting ,, 29 '' draw ,, arrow length is 28 '' , 53 lb,,,, High priced , middle of the road price ??? thank you ,,,,,,
I'm shooting the Easton SuperDrive23 for my 3D set up. It offers different spines and can help you get one fitted for the bow you're using. I use OnTarget2 for my arrow software program to build up my arrows based off my bow specs and then I can fine tune them from there if needed based on how they shoot and tune.
Are you shooting known or unknown? How many arrows are you likely to leave on the course? As a beginner, I wouldn’t go out to the 3D range with brand new pro tours and start letting them fly, as you are likely to lose a few over the course of your first season. I have shot Gold Tip series 22 plus for 3D with great results. They are a mid priced shaft (8$/shaft or so), large enough to cut a line, light enough to make IBO weight at lower poundages, and I have found that the .003” straightness of the plus is more accurate than I, a mere mortal, can shoot. I have also shot the older CX 250’s from carbon express with good results as well. They are a bit skinnier than the 22’s and good for shooting when it’s windy.

Glad it could help! You might also need to adjust your stabilizers too just in case you check out okay with your loop.
Excellent video. Thank you for all you do. I have a question for you how you can teah yourself to shoot with both eyes open? Thnk u

Thank you sir.
Really nice video. I like the way you explain what you mean, rather than just saying stuff because it sounds right and glossing over the details.
Thanks! I try to give as good a representation as I can for sure.
Beautiful bow!

What issues are you having with how you execute your shot now? That can give me a better idea on what to recommend.

Hi
Sir my aiming not stable in tournment how i am control aim
MAN... I wish you could help me tune my bow!!!!
I do offer a tuning service if you'd like to work together with it. www.rcrchery.com/coaching-packages
Do you use a lens?
I do now. When this was filmed I did not. I started using a lens last indoor season.
would it help to keep eyes open?
I like to keep both eyes open. It brings in more light and helps you balance what you're seeing easier.
Bow FACT#Whisperer!! You are amazing💯
Great video, thanks 👍
Thank you for watching!
Omg you are so fucking right!
