If it just started you still have time to save it. I waited about 60k miles on mine after the ticking started and I'm just now needing a rebuild at 180k. Ordered all my parts, just saving for labor as it is expensive AF because I have no idea how to put together a T.V stand.
Iam on my second SS, first one lifters collapsed. Got a better condition one with low mileage and no tick. If you connect range afm disabler the engine will run on all 8 cylinders at all times. It is a must for this car with that afm
My 06 impala SS did the exact same thing. I changed what oil I was using which was mobile I. Changed up to royal purple. It stopped those cold start lifter ticks. Love the car man. Hope you keep her!

My Super has been ticking since I bought it 10,000 miles ago, just 10w-30 and Lucas synthetic and she has been doing fine, still ticks here and there but 0 problems for now, I also only have 174K.
I just sold a 07 Monte ss had the same issue went to my guy and he did the dod delete and we ran an engine flush in it for 5 minutes drained the oil, put marvel mystery oil and valvoline high mileage oil and problem went away completely after a few days
What did you end up doing my lifters just started ticking after running great I just got it a week ago and I’m having a low oil pressure light on cold start

O ring on oil pick up tube. They go bad too and lower op to the lifters.

I love Castrol as well. That's what I use in all my cars
There's also a filter under the oil pressure switch that can effect the lifters
Yea I feel your pain my lifts went & power streeing rack went too my engine getting rebuilt with dod delete & ls7 cam it’s gonna have 350 hp

I got rid of my gxp. I regret it every day now. Guess I just got tired of the issues.
that is not a power steering whine, it's something inside the transmission, possibly the torque converter

could be a exhaust manifold gasket or crack on manifold . common on 5.3l

Not sure the severity of it but lifter ticks a pretty common thing in higher mileage ls. Not necessarily a big deal. Unless it's that annoying.

@@billblount7854 I thought my ls2 had a lifter tick like most of them do but it turned out to be an exhaust leak from a loose bolt in the head

Try cataclean ,put it in a 1/4 of a tank drive until needle is almost at e also drive it on the highway .cleaned almost everything

I changed oil put 10-w40 in it and it fixed it
