It was such a pleasure to meet Dave (and his son Toby) in person! I don’t know how it’s possible, but Dave is even nicer and funnier in person! Thanks for hosting everyone Nigel!
Awwwwws Dave and Nigel fangirling each other 🤗 💙💙💙 And action packed filming of a carnage! Cool 😎 Fun times with friends 🐦❤️ The ficus is looking gorgeous! Love the video! Supergreen 💚💚💚💚
@@TheBonsaiZone yes! The Minnesota club is so nice and they let a Northern Wisconsinite like me in! Dave has met my middle daughter Lexie in a youth workshop - But now Emily wants to meet Dave because ‘HE MET NIGEL!’
Daggum, was that a treat or what?! Two of the most knowledgeable and down to earth cold hardy bonsai enthusiast on one episode, that was slick. Throwing in a cameo with Jay, just over the top. I’ve seen Nigel work on guest’s trees, but I don’t recall that script being flipped. Dave, that’s gotta feel pretty cool, brother. Almost as cool as your Up North Bonsai podcast, episode 1.
Awesome video as always. So many decisions but patience is the key. ….. What?!?!?!? The carnage cam is staged? The short wasn’t real?!?!?!? Very entertaining guys. Great work!
Great video , was a great dynamic , surprising in some ways . Anyways great job on the tree both of you 👌, middle of winter here but I’m inspired to give mine a trim , ( both live inside )
It was great seeing a few of you come together - I also enjoy watching Dave's Bonsai projects. that short is going to be good to see as well. Having watched this today it reminded me that I have along overdue large tigerbark to tame! I do ned to change the potting angle and traditionally I do this sort of stuff in Spring. Have you ever done semi-repot work in the summer with Ficus? It is a shame this was too early for me to catch and please wish me luck for my first premiere at 5pm today with my $50 Bonsai Challenge. Cheers.
@@TheBonsaiZone Looks like that will be on the channel soon. I have one big one, a smaller one and then about a dozen 3 year old cuttings I took from 'mum'.
@@TheBonsaiZone Just a quick question. With Ficus do you use the same mix or is there a lot more organic compost type. Last time I potted up in 100% free draining kittydama, grit, vermiculite with a little peat. What do you think
Generally yes, it should be done in spring before the new buds come out. If you are very careful and don't prune the roots, you can get away with some root sorting work this time of the year!
The scale-insect has one natural enemy- ants. And though the ants spread aphids - they are easier to fight, than scales. One or two days beside the anthill, and they will totally wipe out the nasty creatures.
my ficus is a grosery store (yes the ginger or how it is spell) to haha i got it 6 or 7 euros i don't remeber it been some years sins i got it, this year i got 4 cuting( i try previus years to but no cuting survive) of of it and i fear i will keep doing that an end up with to many haha, but the are so eazy to take care!
