It's a shame Wheels didn't utilize the fact that GRAK can make an additional action if he has nine or more wounds at the start of a round, if so the video might have been longer and we would have been witness to more of their charming chemistry.

Thank you for starting this channel, after years of avoiding them for various reasons I've been getting more interested in tabletop gaming lately and it's nice to see what's out there.

I'm glad both sides seems fun to play despite the obvious differences in how things work.
This is the second playthrough of this game, in this particular setup (vs. bear). The first one I saw the guardian seemed way too overpowered. On the other hand, this one this game seemed to swing a bit, but it clicked in favor of the foxes after Johnny got the hang of it and player well. Regardless, it could have gone either way at one point, depending on card draw. Felt nice and balanced enough. Pretty cool game.
It was actually Wheels' last two turns that he should have had an extra move. I agree that keeping a bit of distance would have been better
Yeah the Bear has 11 HP total. So any time he's down to 2 HP he gets a third action.

The moment Johnny said fewer after Wheels said less, I was tempted to say not as many as I'm always trying to correct myself to say fewer and then just end up saying not as many.

Honestly I think a stun mechanic leaving you unable to do anything with a character for one round after they’re thrown would be good, cause Johnny keep leaping back on immediately after getting knocked off.
Also based on this performance the arms could have done with 3 health as well, rolling a dice to determine where you hit with a missile attack would be nice ( though the bear would only use a d4, not sure if this will work with the other guardians ) and being able to attack things on you with your regular attacks taking the same damage as the enemy would create a lot of risk/reward for both sides, risking shutting down an ability for to kill something that’s griefing you or finally being able to take an ability out but having to decide on working down another or getting out of the hot box ( after the 20 minute mark Johnny always had something on the nonfunctional throw arm to negate any mending Wheels did ). Honestly it seems like some or all of these are need to balance out the power mechanic, because that is intense.
Side note, also might be totally wrong here, but based on the guardian map it looks like you can leap from the ground to the stomp leg to the throw arm to either the head or the swing arm, but Johnny just leaped to where he wanted the few times he got thrown off.
Arguably there is a type of stun mechanic possible. The throw ability says ANY ground space, not specifically the monster's space or even one sharing it, so you could throw them two spaces away which would suck up actions or eliminate them for some time if the correct move cards aren't drawn. The collossus would have to stay out of the middle of the map.
As they mention the bear does seem underpowered, a tutorial they suggest. I'd be interested to see how the other monsters play and if it's a system wide issue.

Man I wish they had done that, just if I was playing as the bear I would really hate it, it’s great as a tutorial for how to deal with guardians but that doesn’t mean it should be under powered.
Like the first boss in a video game, it show be straight forward enough and shouldn’t have any tricky things like later bosses might, but by no means should it be “easy” ( quotes because people are subjective and might have an easier time with a final boss than anything before, be wiped by it or just have a good fight )
I feel like this stuff is fixed a little by pure familiarity. If Wheels was playing very defensively from the start instead of going for early points (like they mentioned) it should become far more difficult for the foxes to actually get to business and force them to extend more units onto the board; chances are this wouldn't actually work due to action economy and the power system but hey, perfect balance sounds less important than fun to me :D

I get that, but it just feels like playing the bear wouldn’t be that fun, it’s more of a chore to play as a beginner tutorial to how to play the Foxes. Plus that power system is strong, filling up on two means you can single handedly take down any part with two health in one turn, three even if you got a missile card.
@@DJVaughan Yeah Johnny using power actions is what killed the bear, he was effectively using 5 actions some turns.

I don’t understand why they wouldn’t just allow you to discard any card to move 1 space in any direction. Movement is the major frustration of this game. And the limitation is neither thematic or strategic IMO.
Or just move without discarding a card.
