CCSL Virtual Quarantine Choir - Alleluia

CCSL Choir director Carisa Holmes brought together several of the participants in the music program at the Columbus Center for Spiritual Living to create this virtual choir piece.
Each of the singers was given only a practice track with their part, and made their own recording using their smartphones as they sheltered-in-place at home. The musicians who provided the backing track also recorded their parts separately in their own homes.
Even though there was no choir conductor, the participants all tuned in to the intention of the piece - to bring together their community during a time when the pandemic invites physical separation - and made recordings that lined up perfectly enough to sound like they were all together in one space.
In their studios, Carisa and music team member Steve Perakis worked together to process the recordings and help them sound clear and warm.
Carisa then lined up the audio with the video clips and pictures that each singer submitted to create this video.
