@@phillyguy2157 No. I am a New Yorker who grew up in NYC during the Mad Men era. And parts of Philadelphia looks like NYC and some streets have the same name .Around 16 years ago I visited my brother who was living and working in Secane outside of Philadelphia and there was a night baseball game on TV. From the blimp I saw what looked like the East Side of Manhattan but it looked different. Within a few seconds the announcer said it was a vew mile away from the baseball stadium. Then I realized how right I was when I said both cities looked alike. Fro example we have the Chrysler Building in Midtown Manhattan and Philadelphia has one near Center City that looks like a streamlined version of the same city. @@luislaplume8261 If you're from NYC you know that all of New York City is not dirty or a slum just as well as all of Philadelphia is not dirty or a slum. This video is about a boy collecting wood for his family I guess for their fireplace. The video shows parts of Center City , it shows market st and a clip of City Hall. If you've been to Philadelphia you know Center city Philadelphia is no slum. This video even shows a clip of a factory site in Philadelphia and who lives near a factory. @@bobwallace9814 No, not really. The people in this film weren't all going to become billionaires, no matter how hard they worked. Capitalism is a pyramid. It needs most people to be at the bottom, otherwise the whole thing falls apart. Society needs trash collectors, cleaners, bus drivers - people who others (perhaps you?) look down on as peasants. We would be nowhere without them. There are people working hard today, who are still in poverty. We need a fairer system - not more bullshit conservative ideology which is spewed by billionaires like the Koch brothers, to keep people angry at the poor, instead of the super elite, who keep creaming off the rest of society.
People saying Philadelphia is dirty need to watch out because it's Will Smith's city. And he'll tell you " Keep Philadelphia out of your Mouth". And then Smack you!!😂😂😂😂
I think the word slum is a word used to denigrate the middle and lower class people by the narcissistic upper class who have contempt for anyone not as rich as themselves. A lot of very decent people used to live here .
Coming to a city near you.
I think you’re right
history repeating itself as we watch
There are many clean areas in Philadelphia. And it really is the City of Brotherly Love. Philly people are loyal and it's a great City!
Are you kidding?

Just the way our politicians like to see you.
People should not have to live like this. I wonder what became of everyone in the film.
People are nothing more than the the sum of choices they made. Be they good or bad, there are consequences.

Once a slum always, a slum lol
It’s a shame we can’t change that
There’s plenty of nice areas in Philly now. The city is huge lol.
Imagine coming back from Berlin to be de,mobbed from the forces, and having to go back to that .
Damn, Philly been tore up!
Wonder where these neighborhoods were... no identifiable landmarks
Even back then, some parts of Philadelphia looked like NYC.
