Ms Ronstadt was one of the late 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s greatest singers. Only person to have the #1 spot on the Country, Pop/Rock and R&B in the same week with different songs. She has the highest selling non-English album in US history, sold over 2.5 million copies (double Platinum) in the first 24 hours of release, Canciones de mi Padre . She has sung Country/Folk, Rock, Pop, New Wave, Operetta for which she received a Tony Nomination for Pirates of Penzance, Standards with the great Nelson Riddle, Mexican Mariachi and Cuban, she even has a Christmas album. She was the first female artist to have 5 Platinum albums in a row. She was the only woman selling out arenas in the mid 70s as the headliner.

In the book "The ABCs of Baseball" L is for Linda Ronstadt. In the early eighties the term for a pitch so fast it left batters, watching it go by in Major League Baseball was a "Linda Ronstadt", because the pitch just "blew by you". A take off her late 70s hit "Blue Bayou"

Baby Boomer here. Linda was a mega star in our day...and is timeless. Mexican immigrant..You can not believe her tribute in Spanish, performance for her Dad and heritage, She also knocked it out in a big NYC hit play.. Supreme talent. Several Pop hits on radio.

Linda isn’t an immigrant. She is an American citizen, born in Tuscan. Ethnicity is around 70% European and +/- 30% Mexican. Her father was 5/8 Mexican, and she did a tribute album to honor their heritage. Her maternal grandfather of Northern European ancestry was a prolific inventor, holding almost 700 patents.

@@mlockette8084Thank you for correcting this. I think her father may have been an immigrant, but not his kids.

She is in the R&R Hall of Fame and deserves it. She encouraged so many to come into the rock scene in the 70s when it was dominated by men. She was a woman who was a solo artist. Her popularity has remained strong.

The reason for so many guitars was different ones for different songs, there was a lead, rhythm and bass guitar players and sometimes different ones would play lead and rhythm, or a song requires a mandolin or acoustic guitar.
Linda sang rock, soul and blues which all have different guitar needs.

I absolutely love her! I grew up with her music and now I am alongside her with Parkinson's disease. I have had young onset Parkinson's for about 13 years now since I was 42 years old. Neil diamond also has Parkinson's as well and he had to recently retire from singing. Alan alda from mash also has it. It's becoming more and more prevalent. I pray one day they find a cure. It was so sad to watch the interview and say that she sings in her head now. This is my favorite song by her. Great reaction!❤

The thing about the people who write their songs is that they are well versed in their craft and usually experiment with different instruments and singing as well as styles of both and are often open to suggestions and ideas from experienced artists and producers as well as a lot of practicing and rehearsing their music to make the best use of the talent to achieve the best version of their songs not just recorded but live as well. This is why it’s often good to see a live performance of some of these artists especially when they’re working with the people who are really good with each other or they’re also as talented as the original artists.

Back in the day bands would introduce themselves halfway through their sets, which is what Linda did here. All those instruments were being played at various times in one song or another but not all at once.

If you start tracing the lineage of songs from the late 60's and early- to mid-70's, you will find a few names keep popping up as either a writer or collaborator - Linda Ronstadt is one, Carol King is another, Jim Steinman is yet another, and there are a few more. There was a core of writing talent that wrote songs and then either performed them themselves or passed them to other performers that they believed would do the songs justice. Linda Ronstadt wrote, collaborated, and performed - all that on top of launching some of the best talent in the music industry by giving them tunes and a stage - I'm talking about the Eagles of course. Some of her studio talent went out on their own to form the Eagles and then they shared music with Linda and Linda with them, boosting each other along the way. It was this type of collaboration and cooperation that ended up giving us "super groups" like "The Traveling Wilburys" who's songs still resonate today and revolutionized music for at least two generations of fans and listeners. Okay, I'm off my soapbox...

Why oh why are you talking over the music. You left out one these individuals had and that is talent. Mike Botts the Drummer was the Drummer for the Group Bread and also played piano for Simon and Garfunkel on Bridge over Troubled Waters. Andrew Gold was Linda’s Music Manager and also a multi instrumentalist who carved out a very successful career of his own. One of most famous songs ‘Thank You For Being A Friend’ . I thought you where very disrespectful to these very talented musicians!

The condition afflicting Linda is a form of Parkinson's.
People look at how many Grammys Linda won and think WOW but what made her so amazing was the diversity of the categories. A double handful of them in almost as many genres.
Rock, Country, Folk, Latin American (Mariachi), Great American Songbook, etc, etc, etc
She was nominated for a Toni (Broadway) for a Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta.
She shares one of those Chinese Theatre Stars with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris for their TRIO albums.
Kennedy Center for the Arts Inductee.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
She filled so many arenas and thwarters the the TicketMaster of the time named her Female Performance Artist of the Decade.
Check out her cover of 'Willing".
I'm not much of a fan of music in general but I love Linda.
She's always been a bit of an activist too.
