- You can see why I welcomed and enjoyed my rendezvous with Lara Dutta.
There’s a lot more to my glamorous guest than you see in her films! A warmth..naturalness..great humour..& intelligence. Part Punjabi and part German-British-Swedish! She grew up in Bangalore in a Hindu-Catholic house.
At the time, 2006, Lara and Kelly Dorji were a couple.
Lara is now married to Mahesh Bhupathi and they have a daughter.

I think her greatest fault was that she had the need to express every thought in her head like Sushmita Sen. She could have reached greater heights if she had employed a more diplomatic strategy like Sridevi, Madhuri and Rani did during the beginning of their careers. She was way too intelligent for the men around her and naive enough to show it,

I could not agree more with you. Sadly, it has been an observation of mine that for women to succeed even in this day and age requires a delicate handling of fragile male egos. Lara says it in the interview itself when one has to pretend to be dumb. I wouldn't use that word , I would say quiet. Having said that I do fully believe that men today should learn to deal with their fragile masculine egos themselves without expecting women to do it. I hope we are moving towards that direction.
Subhanu Khanal True but change begins with us. Telling women to stay "quiet" is deeply ingrained toxicity of our society. Thank God Lara didn't change and actually ended up with a man who cherishes her true nature. I hope I can meet a man like Mahesh too. He's awesome.
Again, I second this wonderful view without any reservation. I was simply trying to state how it is and not what ought to be. Hopefully with more women being increasingly unufraid to speak their minds, we can very soon bridge the gap between what is and what ought to be. And I sincerely wish you the best of luck in your endeavor to find someone who will be unafraid of your fierce energy and happily embrace it.

@amrita poonia she was saying this when simiji asked her that;why she helped priyanka chopra in contest?As there should've been competition b/w them;then Lara dutta said that. I think she meant to say that,while one is achieving their goals,one shouldn't loose their humanity. Of course, the achievements matters, without them she would not have been at the place,where she is now. I don't think she was being hypocrite while answering this question.

Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta naturally combines humour, intelligence and confidence when she speaks. No wonder she is one of the most well-spoken pageant winners of all times. She literally speaks and everyone listens. The host in other hand speaks with so much class, calm, attentiveness and connection to her guest. WOW!!!
Lara is so pretty, articulate and sophisticated. Any surprise that she won Miss Universe? Her career just didn't take off like Priyanka's because she refused to play by the rules of the industry. She is a lot like Sushmita that way.
After watching Lara you don’t feel like watching anyone! She is so genuine and grounded.Two intelligent personalities in conversation.A rendezvous never seen before.When she opens her gift of gab she surpasses all the materialistic ambitions and takes you into different world of contentment.Epic!

I'm not a big pageant fan at all but I chanced upon Miss Universe clips of Lara Dutta and I found myself completely mesmerized. She is beautiful, obviously, but her intelligence, and the delivery thereof, is stunning.

Beautiful Lara Dutta is sophistication personified, in a class beyond comparison.She comes across effortlessly as an amazing lady with such eloquence,grace, charm, honesty and sincerity.All others....Aishwarya,Priyanka,Katrina....etc, the so called beautiful with their self-conscious gestures, grating,artificial laughter, are no match at all for Lara.

Movies haven't done justice to Lara's persona; she's too underrated.
Also Simi Garewal, you're so pretty and I love your questions. I don't think any show in the past or present has shown the personal side to actors. Usually people talk about upcoming films and rumors; but your questions really make the actor reflect and hence, we see their inner being..goals, dreams, thought process, outlook on life.. and that's what's so interesting!

Wow..never knew this side of Lara! She is amazing, Bollywood didn't do justice to her. Lara quite similar to Sushmita, both have a whole world inside them apart from just being actor! Simi really knows how to bring out the inner self of celebs unlike gossip shows!

My heart just melted💗 and got a bit nostalgic 😢with that wonderful answer that she gave in 3:32 to 4:06.Which also gives us a lesson that nothing can prevail honesty,compassion and humanity. Success and failures are the part of our lives that just come and go but its moments like this that makes life and which resides in people hearts forever and which they also remember and share with others once u are no more in this world. Lara is very intelligent,funny and helpful lady. Her vocabulary skills are wonderful. She gives every answer with so much grace,depth and meaningful one and does not stumble or think in between while giving any answer. Hence all the qualities of miss universe👏👏👏.

@anirudh nobody forced you to watch Deepika’s interview. You don’t have to compare. Not everyone is articulate. Lara isn’t a good actress like Deepika. Both have their strengths and weaknesses which make them human.

This show has to be the best in this segment of talk shows. The honesty and depth that the guests were able to reach out to is indeed remarkable. They talk about their life and experiences and not about others.
Like Simi has written in the comments, the attempt was to see the soul of a person, shows the pure intention behind the questions. One can see the connection between the host and the guest. Amazing job done :)
Lara is such a wonderful person and one of the most articulate actors we have. The part where she speaks about helping Priyanka Chopra reflects on her value system. She has a beautiful soul behind that beautiful face. Focus on what you want to achieve but don't forget you are a human ,is such an inspiring line.
Its mentioned in the comments, Star World, isn't interested in this show now, which is quite disappointing. Please try with other channels as many others have joined the english entertainment. There would be a few channels outside the Star umbrella.

OMG! First time heard her..so much depth and understanding of life!! So intelligent and clear about everything!! I noticed Simiji too in an aww when she said- with all the ambition and competition...I am also a human and compassion is what matters!
