Wow I thought the use of the sopranino for the original trumpet solo was genius. Matched the timbre so well and thought for a second you brought in a trumpet player.
What hasn't been said about ESP already? This is the best I think they've sounded in a while. A few minor questions/points I'd like to raise... These first two, I suppose, are for the arranger. I'm confused as to why the sopranino was used at all. Great playing on it, by the way - you'd never guess it's so hard to play it in tune - but when these guys have such chops in the altissimo on soprano, what benefit does the 'nino bring? Also, the percussion seems largely superfluous. Except for the timps in a few spots, a cymbal crash or two, and maybe the car horns, why do we need it? Finally, I know Eastman is excited about upping its game as far as video production, but I really prefer the old approach. The swooping cameras, shots that dissolve in and then out again almost before we know what we're looking at, the constantly-changing perspective... it's just distracting, and even disorienting. I'm fine with the occasional close-up, but how about lingering on the shot long enough for it to mean something, rather than making the viewer constantly feel like he's being spun around as if he's on a carnival ride? Give me the lone wide shot over that stuff any day. But again, the ensemble is phenomenal - and they make it look so easy. _Bravi tutti!_ P.S. - Boosey & Hawks, if you're watching... how about removing the stick from your collective butts, and letting ESP post its gob-smackingly astounding version of _The Rite of Spring_ again? Don't you want to encourage more performances of your composers' music, and expose more audiences to it? What are you protecting?
I got to see this group in person. Absolutely incredible performance!

TRUE!
Didn’t know it was because of Boosey & Hawkes
@@V15lol Yep, they're to blame.
@@rloomis3 how do they even own the rights to rite of spring? i thought it was PD now
@@V15lol They must have renewed it at some point. My information that Boosey is the problem comes from a source directly connected to the ESP.
@@rloomis3 thats so stupid. there might be a recording of the rite on soundcloud, i remember there being one a few years back
