Are you telling me you created the Yuan Wenqing changquan Main Source video???? That was totally my inspiration video when I was a late comer to Wushu training back in the 2000s!! Amazing, thank you.
Thank you for sharing these, it has changed my perspective on wushu now. I was not born in that era but it does make me want to incorporate those aspects in my modern forms. Hopefully I can meet you one day!
My wife and I had the pleasure of studying with Hao Zhihua. While I was never very good, personally, many of her students went on to be gold medalists. She was an absolutely amazing athlete, and a great teacher as well!
57:35 I'd like to respectfully disagree with your take on modern jianshu. I believe the Jianshu still allows athletes to showcase skills outside of pure speed. I actually think the dao event is the more egregious offender in that regard. I'll admit that flowers are definitely overemphasized in Jian but I think the fluidity and precision of the weapon is still rewarded at the top level (besides maybe in China.) It's definitely not perfect but honestly of the big 5 northern styles, I'd argue Jian has preserved the old school style the best.
