- If you get the problem of overheating on your D22 or ZD30 engine then you may want to consider if it is time for a radiator flush if you have been using cheap radiator fluid instead of genuine Nissan Radiator Fluid. Using the wrong radiator fluid in your engine can cause a build up of pressure / over heating and may even corrode your engine! Besides that it is good to flush old fluids out when the time is due and here you will see how I did it on my D22.

Do you use generic or stock based radiator fluids in your engine? In other words, if you have a Nissan vehicle do you ensure to only use Nissan brand radiator fluid?
Very helpful tips
Glad you think so!
Where is your fan shroud?
It was off during production: th-cam.com/video/ZNnmFtWR2aE/w-d-xo.html
How many liters does the radiator hold?
That is a good question. This is an extra large radiator so I will guess around 2 gallons (almost 8 liters).
You mentioned pressure build up in the engine. How would that manifest? I have a 2004 D22 and I have engine oil leaking out of the top half of the engine. The previous owner did a very bad job at replacing the radiator. It is too small, definitely not an original Nissan part and I wouldn’t be surprised if the radiator fluid is the cheapest kind too. The engine itself sounds fine, starts immediately and no smoke. Do you think it can be related?
The pressure build up will cause the radiator fluid to find a place to escape including busting the seals known as a blown head gasket. I have another video showing the large radiator I used as well as how I modified it. Yes, only use Nissan brand fluids which are specifically made for the vehicle. The cheap brands will lead to leaks.
@@JBsManCave Thank you! So, just to double check, it doesn’t result in an oil leak?
Broken seals or a crack in your block can result in an oil leak even a mixture of both oil and radiator fluid which is also a sign of this. Take your vehicle to a Nissan trained mechanic and get it accessed.
@@JBsManCave interesting! Thank you. I’ll have to keep an eye on the engine after I install a proper D22 radiator.
