Ichiran was first reastraunt I went to in Japan, and at the time I thought they were the best noodles. But no literally everywhere I have been north and south I have encountered better and better noodles

I almost went to that exact spot in Shibuya couple of months ago. The local kid wanted to take me and my subordinates to this branch saying that it’s really famous. The sign said that we have to wait 20 mins for a seat and my subordinates wanted to find another place and just kept walking. It took me 5 mins to persuade them that these kinds of places are hard to find and we should really experience this vending machine/ no eye contact ramen place. We walked back to the spot and the sign changed to 1.5 hours of wait. It was a lunch time by the time we got back 😡💀😭

It always makes me sad to see people falling for the great marketing of Ichiran. It’s some of the worst ramen in Japan, although arguably not bad food. There’s just so many better shops, even in a short walking distance of the shop you went to. I wish people did a bit more research and discover better shops.
