Laura, I'd love to see a video about how/where you store and organize all your gardening tools... like these trimmers, cords/batteries, as well as smaller tools like trowels and scissors. Thanks!

The previous owner of the property should be very pleased. You have both the skills and desire to make the garden even more amazing. Have you considered renting it out for a wedding reception? With your creations not much more embellishments need to be added. Of course guest foot traffic is a concern but with a manageable crowd it could be a lovely experience for all.

Those hedges look amazing! Thanks for the great review. For the last four years I have been using a $50 Black and Decker electric hedger and cut through a few cords. Today I trimmed a bush, and the Black and Decker was really not cutting it. Some of what I do 11 foot high bushes and bush trimming for the neighbors. I had never looked at battery operated hedge trimmers, but I have a lot of other Dewalt tools so I did a lot of research, watched some videos, and five hours later I have a new Dewalt hedge trimmer! I got it at Home Depot for $179, and it is better than I could have ever imagined!

I trimmed boxwoods the second time in my life just a week ago. The result - is one of the best parts. Also used battery trimmer. You are right, those trimmers are light and powerful.

Became a huge fan of electric tools last year. I now use them in my landscaping business. My personal preference is Ego. I cannot complain about my trimmer or chainsaw. The ego price is on point and the product is very well built.

We bought a gas husquarna trimmer it was heavy really heavy to trim up high well my husband got tired and it slipped almost lopping off his leg! Very dangerous! So I agree about a light weight trimmer with a battery never had one thinking it was too rinkydink for a large hedge changed our mind for safety factors and easier to handle. Thanks for the review.

Laura: Thank you for all your hard work and incredible enthusiasm; you are truly inspirational. I stumbled onto your videos and have enjoyed viewing them since. I've soaked up your knowledge, tips, advice...and incredible delivery...you've become so natural and comfortable in front of the camera...(something that is definitely easier said than done!) Keep those videos coming and say "Hey" to Aaron for me...his work/research on the camera is also very much appreciated.
And a P.S....I told my Mom about your videos (and she is not a tech-savvy person at all)...and she watches you all the time now. That is right next to a miracle!! When I get a chance to see her, the conversation always turns to your latest videos...and...haha...how cute your wave Good-bye is in all the videos!!!

I concurr with everything you said. I picked mine up today,7-5-19,braught them home and throwed a 5 amp xr bat and hit the bushes ,reciept in pocket. A trial by fire if you will. All my concerns went away on about the 6th overgrown hedge. Dewalt delivers again ! Nice vid ! More pro's to back up my claim that these are so light and easy my wife could use these 😉!.

U can also use a string if u aren't good at getting the height right. Tie the string on stakes to cover the distance u want to trim & don't go beyond the string. Why do we hear the sound of the blower, but not the hedge trimmer.? Gas hedge trimmers are much noisier. Would have appreciated hearing the trimmer as u trimmed. Even a sound comparison of gas, electric, & battery operated hedge trimmers would have been helpful 🙁 Would love to see someone develop a hedgebot to trim hedges, like the lawnbot does for lawns 😊

  • @kennyp54

Using a hedge trimmer would be quicker and easier but it is my understanding the recommended method is to trim down to a juncture using hand pruners because electric hedge trimmers create cut leaf edges that turn brown and expose the boxwood to disease. Do you find this to be an issue with hedge trimmers?

I can't say enough good things about my battery operated hedge trimmers because I can't find anything I don't like about them. You don't have to worry where in your yard they go and no messy irritating cord to worry about. Mine are well used and in their 2nd year and are still really sharp and are also fabulous for cutting long grass/weeds prior to mowing difficult areas. AAA+ and then some. If anyone is still thinking about getting some I would say go for it!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS REVIEW. After watching this I'm getting both blower and hedge trimmer. I have an echo gas leaf blower but i have to have my husband turn it on for me because you have to pull the cord in order for it to turn on and it hurts my shoulder after several tries and it doesn't always turn on after two or three pulls. I to have cut thru the extension cord using the electric hedge trimmer 😖. I also love the idea of having one brand. Now I just need a review on the wall mount hose reel vs the cart hose reel. Again thank you.

Denise B you should have someone show you how to start a 2 stroke engine. Or have the engine adjusted properly. Should only take one or 2 pulls max.
Step 1. Press the primer bulb a few times to prime the engine.
      2. set choke to full.
      3. Hold throttle wide open.
      4. Pull starter cord.
      5. once engine starts warm it up a bit like 30 second then close choke.

To the one who has 4O'clocks..... The only way to get rid of them is to dig the bulb up, they grow very deep. You may have a resido of them if there are seeds the following year.

    • @julvwildcat190
      @julvwildcat190 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Linda Martin also if you let them flower you have to cut off the spent flowers so they don't make seeds. I have 3 plants that I thought I got rid of last year, I even dug it out. Oh well. I'll try again after they are done. I'm not fond of the colors that's why I'm getting rid of it. I also suggest digging further away from the plant so you don't slice off a piece of the tubber/bulb because it might grow back next year. That is what most likely happened to me.

Hi Laura! I have somemboxwoods I need to trim but I'm terrified to pull out our electric trimmer because I almost cut the cord last year :o I'm going to have to go buy a battery powered one because my onc3 cute boxwoods look a hot mess for real!! But......a tip I would like to share with you for easy cleanup is to lay a long dropcloth or tarp al8ng the sid3s of what you're trimming and it's suoer easy to swep up or you can carefully bundle it up and easily dumo in your trash can!! Just wanted to share;)

I currently have 4 o clocks growing in a bed upfront with the neighbor having some beautiful winter greens as there boarder to create privacy between our properties. I am wanting to put boxwoods up front and do more wintergreen in the front of the house so it can stay green all year long. What is your opinion to help get rid of the 4 o clocks (which grow like a weed) I've thought of putting the mat down like you did behind your green house to prevent weeds from growing up also... not sure what the mat is called. And also what would be the best boxwood variety to put in? I've heard they grow kinda slow but I have set my mind to having some kind of hedge upfront. Any thoughts would be appreciated...

I love my boxwood hedges but I am having a hard time dialing in the right time to trim them and not have the fresh cut leaf edges turn brown/burn from the sun.
You trimmed your boxwood hedge(beautiful job!) on a day when you said the temp was going up to 95 degrees. I live west of Seattle and we rarely get in the 90s. But mine turn brown if I trim them on a sunny day 😟
