Thanks Hayley. This is only the second mention on Crimewatch UK of the attacks on Enid Poole a charity worker & Mair Laugher a head mistress, both from Barry, South Wales. Ms. Poole, age 90, never fully recovered from the terrible attack. and "died a broken woman two years later" in a nursing home, still asking staff, if she was indeed safe there. (somewhere else it states Ms. Poole died just 9 months later. No idea which is true) Mair Lougher, age 86, was found 17 hours AFTER the attack on Enid Poole. That foul, despicable creep broke her jaw with a wooden weapon and dumped her in the bath. Ms. Lougher underwent major surgery on her face and recovered fully! She Returned to her flat, after which she was still well know around town and considered a local heroine! The vile, disgusting & evil Leslie Salter was given 4 life sentences. He had been conning his way into elderly women's homes and becoming increasingly violent, over the previous 12 month period. Salter is still serving life for the death of Enid Poole and the crime spree as far as I can research. He savagely beat two elderly women for just a few pounds, and robbed many more.

What's the damn point of courts giving a life sentence when the minimum term is 9 year's? No wonder there's so much crime when the offenders know they will get off or receive a light sentence.

That is the minimum you will servce with no guarantee that when you have served that and applied for parole the Parole Board will release you.
