@@Vagabond404the original blade runner "started" the genre (i'm sure it wasn't the first, but it was the most known) and, to me, cyberpunk 2077 perfected the genre, such a great game...
Honestly, once the bugs were fixed, cyberpunk 2077 was a masterpiece. I’m glad they worked to fix its shortcomings and delivered the great game it was meant to be.
Cyberpunk is my favorite rpg of all time, and one of rhe biggest reasons for this is the environment built around a hyper-dystopia. Like you can go from a high tech, high class, high price city center to slums where suicide is rampant along with addiction, to a empty desert littered with wind turbines in a fruitless effort to provide clean power, to a massive landfill where some people are forced to live, that affects the well-being of everyone. It is such an interesting world (i have 40+ playthroughs and have been playing since day 1)
Something about a world where companies own your body parts and can cure almost any illness, and the rich are only looking for ways to live forever, stay young, while the poor are only looking at how to live till the next day, all in a neon soaked lie of a city, a landmark of technological advancement.
Everyone has that one media in their life that changes something inside then. For me, it was Cyberpunk 2077. Played it since day one and loved it since day one and it will never change.
Seeing Cyberpunk in here makes me appreciate the fact that at least people could tell just how sad and dark the setting of Cyberpunk is. Corporate ruled world and the most fucked up people roaming free in Night City and there’s V, who originally wanted to be a Legend but ended up just wanting to live. Yet on whatever ending you choose, most of them end up with V dying. The fact is, there js no happy ending in Night City, most of the endings you choose, you’ll end up leaving people behind with them having mixed feelings on V’s end. The only ending where V actually lives, in the new PL Expansion, he loses most of his friends and everything, now he’s another face in the crowd. Just as our boy Johnny said “Wrong City, Wrong People”
This whole thing honestly terrifies me. It might look nice in movies and games, but this is slowly but surely becoming our reality....It's beautiful in every way possible but brings tears to my eyes knowing how terrifying it really is.
For some reason, Cyberpunk has a certain beauty to it despite the "low life" aspect. Its hard to explain but its amazing. I'd love to see more iterations or contiuations of this genre in movies and games

Cyberpunk is a tragic genre but in a different way than you think. Yes, worlds of Blade Runner, Cyberpunk, Neuromancer, Ghost in the Shell, etc. are bleak, their inhabitants are broken, and morality or authenticity are impossible to find in them. But I mean the genre is _itself_ a tragedy because in spite of all the warnings given to us by brilliant artists like Philip K. Dick, William Gibson, Mike Pondsmith, and Masamune Shirow we didn't listen and, blinded by the allure of neon and convenience, turned our world into something not so dissimilar from their nightmares. Ironic. I will say it's a great edit but I worry about how many find these dystopias desirable. If the state of the city I'm in right now (New York) is anything to go by, we're pretty much living it. And it's not so beautiful after all.
