Making my Movie with AI - AI Filmmaking Ep1

  • Is it possible to shoot an entire movie in Midjourney?
    This is the question, and indeed the quest, that has started to keep me awake at night.
    It took me 10 years of laughter and tears and an extremely patient wife, but I did it... I wrote the most FANTASTIC screenplay for the movie that I WOULD MOST LOVE TO WATCH...
    But now there's a problem. With current Hollywood movie-making techniques, my enormously imaginative movie would be too expensive to shoot for the modest ticket sales and the lowly audience figures of a RomCom.
    Yep, if it was left to traditional filmmaking techniques, this movie would never be made. But then along comes Midjourney and the wonders of AI, and I started to wonder just how far away we are from me being able to create the entire feature film myself, just with the help of my laptop and A.I.

    On a different note, if you feel like charming your way into the hearts of the women in your life (wife, GF, mother, sisters, lovely cat lady next door who watches your house for you while you're away...)
    Consider buying the eBook of my screenplay, "Telepathy SUCKS!"
    I spent more than a decade laughing and crying (literally) whilst I wrote the screenplay, and it's the reason this entire channel exists.

    I like how you are managing your expectations while still being excited about making an entire movie with AI

      Hey, thanks very much :-)
      The fun thing about Midjourney is that there are some brilliant ways to begin to breath life into the story. I’m genuinely really excited about creating visuals to match my screenplay even if the movie version is some way off.

    Great idea, mate... I wrote a rom com 10 years ago and pitched it but it got turned down. Super interested to watch your journey, love the idea and your presentation! Keep up the spirit. Anyways, subbed...

      Hey, thanks very much! I'm just prepping for the next video now, and the whole video series is going to be exactly for writers like yourself with screenplays that they'd love to see turned into a movie 🙂

    Love this video. It's the perfect setup for its own story of your journey to produce your other story.

      Hey, thanks so much! Well spotted on my personal storyline opportunity btw. You must know a thing or two about REAL storytelling ;-)

    instead of midjourney, i recommend you look into stable-diffusion with lora trained models and controlnet. it solves much of the consistency problems

      Thanks very much, I've added stable-diffusion and controlnet to my list of Midjourney alternatives to check out. 🙂

      Absolutely, please do share your insights. This is such a new arena that there are no experts with years of experience, just people with an enthusiastic willingness to learn.

    maybe not really what you are looking for but have you take a look at 'Cine Tracer'? not really director oriented, more for dp's and gaffers I guess, but with som creativity it could be intresting!

    • @HaydnRushworth-Filmmaker
      @HaydnRushworth-Filmmaker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oooooohhhh, Cine Tracer is the closes thing I've come across to the movie-making video game I'm dreaming of, but unfortunately, they haven't caught the mass-market vision I was hoping for. Absolutely love their work though.

    I'm in for the ride. Interested to see where it goes. But I think technology you're asking for will be available sooner than you suggested in the video. Chat GPT-4 is 10x smarter than its predecessor 3.5 from November last year. At this rate the next iteration could be smarter beyond human comprehension. Currently it's IQ is 152 which is just shy of Einstein's IQ and is already smarter than 99% of humans. I know that this is a different tool but if other AI engines follow suit then... Well, you know.

    Kill the background music. It distracts from what you are saying. The smash cut style of editing also takes away from what you are saying. The voices are already there if you are willing to narrate your own script and play your own characters. There is an AI voice solution already. As to actors, you are looking right now at avatars to drop into UnReal Engine. Then you need mocap, which there are AI solutions for already. I'm on the same path as you and this is what I am doing.

    • @HaydnRushworth-Filmmaker
      @HaydnRushworth-Filmmaker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Love it, great to have you on board. Unreal Engine and actors in MoCap suits absolutely is the closest thing I've come across yet, but I'm dreaming of something even easier to use. I mean, literally like a video game level of usability, but with MoCap suits as input devices along with a traditional hand controller.
