    I never gained an inch of appreciation for animals by visiting zoos. It was actually by watching videos of intensive animal farming what led me to love and defend or protect animals. I’m going to disagree with the doctor here. Zoos are to keep animals in captivity and nothing else for money. If it’s for research then let’s call them animal research centers.

      zoos have saved many animals from extinction
      and most zoos are non profit.

      If it takes seeing an animal brutalized and harmed for you to give a shit about them that says more about you than zoos. You have a fucking empathy problem if you can’t be inspired to care about animals just existing. Also theres so much that goes beyond what you see going on. Breeding reaserch, genome projects, money from the zoo going to conservation work in the wild, money from the Zoos going to support poor communities and help them to stop using unsustainable practices.
