I passed last week first time with 4 minors! The conditions were really bad and the examiner made me go through foot-deep floods and I was convinced I'd failed. Your videos really helped me at the start of my driving lessons and when I started to do mock tests with my instructor. Thanks for making this content, you help so many of us!
Brandon did sooooo well on this lesson!! Once he nails them gear changes, in combination with his revised knowledge, there will be no stopping him!! Fantastic for his 7th hour of lessons!! Well done Brandon!!

Love Brandon’s videos. Like other comments have mentioned, you did seem a bit down towards the end, don’t worry it’s all a learning curve mate just keep going :)
I don't need help with driving but Pin and Brendon are entertaining to watch, and seem like nice people. I can also pickup a thing or two. I can imagine Brendon giving a car an italian tune up.
The lesson's are good so far Pin. I say Brandon has done well and everything is going well. Like me on my lessons between 3rd and 7th i feel like getting used to roads like Brandon went on today get tricky to remember and selecting gear. I do hope now with bad covid 19 you still get chances for lessons and happy New year to you, Brandon and family.
This reminds me of my first hour driving. My instructor took me to some back alley parking lot where we did the basic steering wheel and clutch stuff, then it was straight to the main road. I still remember him saying faster, more gas and I was like dude, we're in second gear going like 15, we about to take off holy shit! Weird that he's still so afraid of speed after 7 hours, but I do know exactly how he feels, 15mph is fast as fk when you just started driving.
I'm loving Brandon's driving journey; I will say that Brandon still has issues with remembering a lot of the stuff, like mirror checks, gear changes, smooth braking, handbrake starts etc. How Brandon can improve his driving faster: 1. Pivoting your right foot between the brake and gas pedal; this will give the most control between the brake and gas, and Brandon has a big foot, so this will help. 2. How to know when to release the clutch after accelerating from a standstill? → As the car starts to move, the rpms on the tachometer or rev counter will dip down, and when the rpms starts to rise again, you can come off the clutch fully. 3. Rev matching: Rev matching (matching the gear speed or the wheel speed and engine speed will help your gear changes to be more smooth and less jerky, this will make the driving experience a lot more comfortable, both for Brandon and Pin. 4. Whenever turning right or left, regardless of it being at a junction or passing cars, make sure you check the mirrors related to the side you're moving towards to; moving right = center & right mirrors - moving left = center and left mirrors. 5. Whenever coming to a stop, whether at the traffic lights or giving way to oncoming traffic before turning right, always remember to go back to 1st gear. When Brandon's assessment and planning becomes sharper, he will be able to judge, whether he needs to stop or can carry on with 2nd gear for most turns; 1st gear is either for stopping to give way and/or the turn is very narrow and/or requires a slow and steady speed. 6. Mastering clutch control: Pin will need to teach Brandon more about clutch control, and how he can utilize clutch control in various situations, combined with rev matching. Brandon can also watch videos related to clutch control online, and help him gain a better understanding about the clutch and the various uses for it. 7. Blindspot checks: As he gets to a stage in his driving, where he will need to change lanes for example, blindspot checks will become a vital tool to make sure, no one is overtaking him and he can move over safely and confidently. Many times people are taught to mostly rely on their mirrors, when changing lanes or even merging to an A-road or a M-road down the slip road, but looking past your side mirrors, and having a shoulder check (blindspot check) will give Brandon that extra security and allow him to move over safely and confidently. 8. Gear speeds: Knowing about engine braking in each gear will allow Brandon to determine, whether and how much he will need to come off the gas or brake in each gear, correlated to the given situation. Each car will have different gear ratios, and therefore engine braking will be different in Pin's car vs. a car Brandon will get to drive after passing his driving test.
@@yanyanswife Hi, rev matching is simply combining the gear/wheel speed with the engine speed in a manner that makes the transition from one gear to another smooth, less jerky and enjoyable, both in upshifts and downshifts. To rev match, there are many methods to do so; I recommend to rev match in a similar way you'd use clutch and gas to move off from a standstill: Say you're in 2nd gear and want to shift up to 3rd gear -> come off the gas, clutch down, shift to 3rd gear, add some gas, lift the clutch to the bite point until you feel the car re-accelerate again (you'll notice the rpms on the tachometer/rev counter start to rise up again). This method is very user-friendly to all drivers, from beginners to experienced drivers, and it's a safe way to both upshift/downshift, especially if you're not familiar with the car you're driving in. There is also another method of rev matching, it's called the throttle blip, where you simply blip/tap the gas pedal and the excessive rpms will allow you to come off the clutch a lot quicker; this does depend on the amount of gas you give, and the gear ratios in your particular car. Petrol/gasoline cars tend to be more lenient with gear changes using these mentioned methods, as these cars usually have a broader ratio in each gear vs. in a diesel car. I haven't tried the blip method myself yet, but as I gain more experience and get comfortable with my gas pedal, I can go ahead and shift by blipping the throttle. One thing to note, is to not rev the car up too much and bring the clutch up, as it can cause excessive wear to the clutch, cause wheelspin from a standstill etc. You can also smell the burnt smell coming off the clutch; I've experienced this and it's not pleasant. Please ask for more if you want to know more!
When I hear "Brake, clutch down now, is it safe?" and other prompts it really reminds me of Rally and how even some of the best drivers need someone to remind them of what they are about to do. Its great and I believe that's got to be the best way to teach awesome stuff loving the series.
I literally had a driving instructor which confused me! He once asked me to stop the car and I did as I was asked but he then said that I didn't stop quick enough! I didn't even know that he was testing me on how quick I could react so I stopped as I would normally have stopped on a no emergency situation. He didn't even give me a second chance. 🤨🤔
Mine was cancelled 4 times, I had to wait and extra 3 months u till I got my provisional, I had to wait 2 months to book a theory, couldn't start lessons when i wanted to, and managed to pass last week first time at 17 and 7 months old. Just in time before they were stopping tests
Passed on the 8th of December but still watch DR PIN 😂 honestly watching these videos are great, keep going Brandon you pass before you know it 🚗 I really wanna do a mock test between me and my twin
Been watching these videos from the start. I never knew you could do bite point just with the clutch and break. I thought you always needed to have acceleration. Now I’m even more confused! Ha :)
I Passed my test 2 years ago, and eventhoug I didn't passed my test in the UK(I took my driving lessons in Spain so the exam) I still love watching this videos, makes you learn the way they drive in the UK, if you're curious and you want to know about the driving in the UK I absoluteley recommend this videos. They're very educational. and just love this man's accent :)
Love the videos! I passed my car test on the 24th December with one fault! I feel for sorry for the people affected by the restrictions and test cancellations!
I Can’t go out for driving lessons just now because of lockdown, it’s pretty much messed up my practice, plus I rather do my lessons with my instructor rather than going out in the family car.
Why do still watch these videos when I’ve passed my UK driving test. For people who have their test coming up. Dont be nervous don’t look what the examiner is doing just drive Normal and be aware of overtakers and constantly check your side mirrors and blind spots to make sure the examiner knows your doing it.
Brandon helps me better than taz! I love Taz but gosh she was just so good. Brandon seems more like how I feel. He’s gonna be a brilliant driver but it’s nice to see someone not being perfect straight away! Hard to describe it. But enjoying this series so much. X
I don't think he was blaming you for messing up - in fact he was very honest and eager to learn! He just stated how he was feeling in the moment which was that you confused for him (he was just being honest). And he was very polite throughout the whole video. Hope Brandon passes and good luck to him!
Not sure if it's a safety thing with modern cars to stall but my car WILL set off in second gear it's just extremely sluggish. Not that i want to but on accident i found out.
I feel like new drivers are scared of speed like it's this baddy in a video game when really, it's a good thing, it helps you reach your destination faster and it's easy to control speed when it comes to braking and accelerating so if anything happens on the horizon, just break a little. I mean this! When you emerge from a junction, put your foot down (not literally, that kind of acceleration could be dangerous).
My instructor got me on the duel carriageway and told me to floor it upto 70 lol. Wanted me to feel what the car feels like under acceleration. So I know what to expect and how to react to the gears etc. Incase I need to do that in a situation. When you watch alot of learners obviously their inputs on the gears are slower etc. But if you do pull out on someone by mistake. It's better to get speed up fast to not cause them too much inconvenience . I hate when someone pulls out on me and just plods along causing me to brake sharpish. When if they floored it we would both be unaffected.
Brandon's progressed a lot! His question at 31:31 made me laugh because it's exactly the kind of question I would have asked: good in theory, but doesn't work practically. Being a trainee teacher, Brandon obviously learns theoretically as I do, so driving tests a completely new part of my brain, where an academic learning style doesn't always fit. My instructor used to tell me I was too clever for my own good!
Hi pin, there is a much easier way to learn people to drive than this, you need to follow a structured course, that way the pupil will learn quicker and take more responsibility for themselves. They will make less mistakes. he feels like a robot because you are over instructing, you are doing all the work by talking so much. You have good intentions but you are talking him through the basic skills. You should not be doing meeting situations , the lad has not even mastered basic junction skills
I’ve had 9 hours of lessons and my instructor only let me drive away from my house on the 8th, I don’t feel like I’m bad at all tbh I think I’m alright with the controls just a bit slow getting the bite. I feel like he’s mugging me off but I don’t know.
@@f4h1mmm27 yeah I’m with a different instructor now and it’s a completely different story, he is letting me drive everywhere and I’m starting to do manoeuvres so I think it may have been the other instructor tbh

@@melissabruce9841 omg thats such a shame😭 honestly im never one to advocate ‘breaking’ the rules, but say you and a family member you feel like has been completely safe, just have a short run around with them. it suuucks but if the risk is worth it for you then id just go for it. especially if youve both been pretty much isolating and just keep the windows down lol. like i say though thats your call but i think it’s important you get some practice in before your test. otherwise if you dont feel safe, id perhaps just cancel and rebook for asap😭 x
In the uk you change gears while accelerating? Interesting. We gotta come off the accelerator and onto the clutch to change gears. Also gotta go from 4th, to 3rd, to 2nd, to stop. Every time!
No you can't and shouldn't change gears while accelerating. Completely off the gas, put the clutch completely down, change gear, let clutch off completely (for beginners) or atleast get to the biting point then gas. Who is "we" Americans? Australians? Also mandating everyone follow a sequential gear shift pattern to downshift is clownery at its best.
@@goku6560 ‘we’ are Irish people or anyone learning to drive in Ireland. And when I say we gotta go through 4th, 3rd, 2nd, etc, that’s just when learning to drive with an instructor. On your test day, if you stoped at a red light in 3rd gear and then went straight to 1st to take off again, you would get a minot fault. It shows you don’t have complete control of the car and that’s something you gotta have to pass the test. After the test you drive how you like.
@@sarah.93.31 I agree you need car control to pass the test but how is changing gears strictly sequentially demonstrate that all the while stopped at a red light?
Hey Pin, I wanted to ask coz of tier 4 lockdown tests were cancelled but is there no tests for people who are key workers similar to the previous lockdown?
Hi I've received email from DVSA to inform me that my pratical test on 25th January was cancelled , and they will send me another date, do you think that the new date will be long time, maybe in April or After??
What I really like about America: 98% automatic cars - driving stick is cool but having the drivers side on the right and drive on the left side of road sounds like a confusing brain game for an American when your so used to being in America like wow I did not know you have to do all this when driving ( even though it’s not that hard when learned) , once you go automatic you wouldn’t want to go back (a lot of people say Americans are lazy but honestly automatic just saves the pain of new learners having to do all of the learning a stick driving car).
@@abidrahman6065 lol no I actually practiced earlier today and just like 30 minutes ago mine didn’t get cancelled yet I saw another person taking road test when I was practicing which you can fail for if they see you but I’m perfectly fine at parallel parking and 3 point turn
@@Jakewhatup thats great then. Which country are you from? All tests in England got cancelled and mine was meant to be 2 hours ago 😒 also did you pass?
Nope, if you do, you could get a serious fault for signalling. Flashing is only to be used to notify your presence. Try not to wave at them either, you could get a serious fault for control - both hands need to be on the wheel unless you are changing gears and when doing your show me question. Also, you could get a serious fault for observation if you follow through when someone else flashes you. The examiner wants to see you making good observations despite someone flashing you or beckoning you forward. Good luck!

Been watching these videos from the start. I never knew you could do bite point just with the clutch and break. I thought you always needed to have acceleration. Now I’m even more confused! Ha :)
Pin: how do you feel?
Brandon: fine.
Me: throws dictionary away
I Passed my test 2 years ago, and eventhoug I didn't passed my test in the UK(I took my driving lessons in Spain so the exam) I still love watching this videos, makes you learn the way they drive in the UK, if you're curious and you want to know about the driving in the UK I absoluteley recommend this videos. They're very educational. and just love this man's accent :)
I’m learning and I feel like I’m probably the worst driver my driving teacher has ever had
Your videos are so helpful! I passed my test on the 29th, first time 🚗
Well done! It can be so difficult to get through this period. A few more hours and relaxing more it gets easier.
Love the videos! I passed my car test on the 24th December with one fault! I feel for sorry for the people affected by the restrictions and test cancellations!
Bring on the day when Pin gets Right & Left CONFUSED 😳😳😳 Bad Thing 2 Joke About lol 😂
I Can’t go out for driving lessons just now because of lockdown, it’s pretty much messed up my practice, plus I rather do my lessons with my instructor rather than going out in the family car.
why can't they allow lessons and tests :( with the right precautions, it should be fine!
Trust me that what am saying what is the point wearing mask social distance if they keep closing things up all the time
@@leocardoroger6270 because noone is listening to it so we all have to be stuck under a dome like the Simpsons
I think they will stop the lockdown trend only once more people succumb to mental health issues then COVID..
He feeling overwhelmed...
Great vid! I Can't wait to get back to my driving lessons once we come out of tier 4! 👊
When it says he feels like he is a robot it’s because he ain’t got enough experience
Why do still watch these videos when I’ve passed my UK driving test. For people who have their test coming up. Dont be nervous don’t look what the examiner is doing just drive Normal and be aware of overtakers and constantly check your side mirrors and blind spots to make sure the examiner knows your doing it.
Over exaggerating observations and being progressive and safe. That’s all you can do.
@@damedusa5107 that’s all I did just make mirrors and blind spots second nature
Brandon helps me better than taz! I love Taz but gosh she was just so good. Brandon seems more like how I feel. He’s gonna be a brilliant driver but it’s nice to see someone not being perfect straight away! Hard to describe it. But enjoying this series so much. X
I love watching all these lessons thx u
At 39:15 I thought maybe he put it on fast forward, but no they were actually driving that fast down the road. That's crazy!!!
Still watching nearly 2 years after ive past .keeps me alert!
He knows what he is doing. Taz passed the first time go Taz!!!
I passed today and I'm already back watching? Wtf
I'm in tier 4. The driving tests are not allowed to go on. My test is on the 11th of February. What is going to happen?
does the ultimate driving course work for Northern Ireland?
I’m from ROI and it works for me!
I’ve had 9 hours of lessons and my instructor only let me drive away from my house on the 8th, I don’t feel like I’m bad at all tbh I think I’m alright with the controls just a bit slow getting the bite. I feel like he’s mugging me off but I don’t know.
He definitely does not trust you , or you need to get new instructor
@@f4h1mmm27 yeah I’m with a different instructor now and it’s a completely different story, he is letting me drive everywhere and I’m starting to do manoeuvres so I think it may have been the other instructor tbh
How do you book a test with him? He seems so good and patient!!
Yes pin!! Passed my driving test (2nd attempt) with only 3 minors. Last thing I did was go through the ultimate driving course again.
Congratulations
I think another angle of the speedometer would be so helpful to us too!😃
My test is due the day after we move out of tier 4 - if that happens on time. Stuck trying to decide whether to cancel or not :(
id keep it booked in case; just keep watching and revising everything you can and if you have a relatives car you can have a bit of private practice in
@@nikitadavies9777 I have my own car but unfortunately can't get out as you are not allowed to mix households and I live alone :( just have to keep everything crossed! Next availability by me is not until April time either so makes it worse haha
Do you know the day we move out if tier 4???
@@yakovts we are supposed to finish on Monday the 18th where I am - that's Scotland so it may be difficult for you
@@melissabruce9841 omg thats such a shame😭 honestly im never one to advocate ‘breaking’ the rules, but say you and a family member you feel like has been completely safe, just have a short run around with them. it suuucks but if the risk is worth it for you then id just go for it. especially if youve both been pretty much isolating and just keep the windows down lol. like i say though thats your call but i think it’s important you get some practice in before your test. otherwise if you dont feel safe, id perhaps just cancel and rebook for asap😭 x
What car do you use in the videos?
What I really like about America: 98% automatic cars - driving stick is cool but having the drivers side on the right and drive on the left side of road sounds like a confusing brain game for an American when your so used to being in America like wow I did not know you have to do all this when driving ( even though it’s not that hard when learned) , once you go automatic you wouldn’t want to go back (a lot of people say Americans are lazy but honestly automatic just saves the pain of new learners having to do all of the learning a stick driving car).
So I was told to watch these kind of videos. Somehow Iintantly failed when I turned and drove on the left side of the road..
i passed yesterday but still watch it 😂
This guy is fucking brilliant 🤣🤣🤣
Passed my theory on the 22nd, now onto the next
Wolverhampton is in Tier 4 now, so Brandon’s driving lessons and the mock driving tests will be postponed for now.
Yep
why is there only 8 videos of brandon. what happened to him??????
Lockdown stops lesson from continuing. But they’re allowed to continue now.
I am doing the online lessons and I pass the driving mock tests on road signs how do activate the ultimate driving course
My test is tomorrow haven’t practiced parallel parking yet but watched plenty of videos 🙄
@Jake What Up did it get cancelled like mine 😭
@@abidrahman6065 lol no I actually practiced earlier today and just like 30 minutes ago mine didn’t get cancelled yet I saw another person taking road test when I was practicing which you can fail for if they see you but I’m perfectly fine at parallel parking and 3 point turn
@@Jakewhatup thats great then. Which country are you from? All tests in England got cancelled and mine was meant to be 2 hours ago 😒 also did you pass?
@@abidrahman6065 I’m in the US and yes I passed I only got 5 points taken off !
Are you videoing everyone who wants to learn? I was going to book the lessons 😳😳😳🙁
Hi.. on my test am I allowed to flash someone to thank them or to let them go? Or do I stay away from that like informal driving?
Nope, if you do, you could get a serious fault for signalling. Flashing is only to be used to notify your presence. Try not to wave at them either, you could get a serious fault for control - both hands need to be on the wheel unless you are changing gears and when doing your show me question. Also, you could get a serious fault for observation if you follow through when someone else flashes you. The examiner wants to see you making good observations despite someone flashing you or beckoning you forward. Good luck!
Hi Pin, I have a request to make. Its about theory test 1 year extended petition. If it reaches 10,000 signatures the government will respond to it and if it reaches 100,000 then they will talk about this in parliament.
Without your help it would be very hard.
Happy New Year and wish you best luck for future
🎆
I blamed my instructor on a roundabout😭😭 he said third exit then straight ahead I got so confused and he took the pedals and I stalled mid roundabout…
in my defence He didn’t warn me about us doing roundabouts prior😭😭
Are driving tests cancelled now for the new areas in Tier 4?
Yes driving lessons and tests aren’t allowed in tier 4 areas.
