@@Ace_Bishop Dragon Ball characters have hax resistance according to how strong they are Beerus for example actually interacts with a full on gag character and has complete immunity to it. So I'm going to say that toon force stuff isn't going to do anything to him and any kind of blows he can do won't damage him and basically all Goku has to do is flick him or basic Kai blast him and it's over not to mention how slow Luffy is by comparison even without techniques it doesn't matter if you can see the future if you can't react even with the heads up.

If a toon force character wants to be so strong he oneshots the universe with his pinky toe in his sleep then he'd do that. They can be as strong as they want to be. So Goku's hax resistance isnt gonna be doing anything as it relies on being stronger than your opponent.

@@speed8320 Hypothetically a mastered gear 5 could just imagine himself with more stamina. Unless Oda puts a limit on a mastered Gear 5 then Goku just cant hang. He can imagine whatever he wants. He could just imagine Goku had no limbs, imagine Goku was as slow as a snail, imagine Goku had no powers. It's a busted ability that I don't think Oda would let slide since he normally limits his characters and if he doesn't limit him then it'll be in EOS where the aftereffects dont matter much. We'll just have to wait and see to really how Luffy develops to solve that hypothetical

That's part of what makes Gear 5th so amazing, because it still follows the rules to some degree. Oda has made it apparent that expression can lead to real world effects (que Sanji and his flames) so everything gear 5 does fits either Haki, Devil Fruit, or Expression. His expression is so strong, it literally affects everyone around him, causing them as well to express toon like eyes and humor. It happens too frequently for it to just be a gag. The only point where Luffy breaks the rules is when he pulls goggles out of nowhere. That hasn't been explained yet, though Im sure it will be added on and explained. Technically even that could be explained through expression, but Oda just hasn't done it yet.

I tend to go by the idea that the Mask only brings out what the individual represses, whether if it's murderous intent in the comics or being a chaotic yet well-meaning jerk with a heart of gold in the cartoon. There was an episode of the series where Stanley took some self-help literally and started acting like the Mask in his everyday life only to realize that the mask stopped working since he no longer had a repressed side. And well, Luffy doesn't really have much of a filter to begin with. :D
this is not a bad idea, but the baseline for The Mask isn't that it brings out just what is repressed, but rather it amplifies what's already there, repressed or not. I can't speak on that episode of the series, but if it is a one off story, then it may not be the best evidence because the mask is already such a chaotic force to begin with. I would suspect that if the story was being consistent, then that episode of the series probably had something else affecting his ability to use the mask as well.

This is just Gear 5 at its full potential. This is literally what the fruit is capable of, Luffy just isn't aware of its true capability yet.
The fruit literally makes dreams/imagination real. It's like a Green Lantern ring with infinite range/multitasking.
Once Luffy knows his fruit's true capability he's gonna become the strongest character in fiction, like he just thinks "I'm stronger than Goku" and he claps Goku in two, even the Dragon balls couldn't wish him back after that
@@nocturne1601 Eh, as much as I'm a fan of One Piece, I think there are certain limits to how powerful the form can be, such that there probably will still be stronger characters in fiction (like gag characters fighting tend to cancel each other out, and the number of reality benders in fiction are quite high.) He'd definitely have a good fight with Goku (I think the people that try to site Goku's planet+ busting power level are full of it since power level isn't the only thing that matters even in Dragon Ball,) though who would win might depend on various factors, like if Luffy can get over Gear 5th's time limit.

And as far as I know Goku never goes max at the start so the fight will stretch in duration and it will be enough for luffy to time out of gear 5 and then get clapped by Goku

There are two problems with what it says: The context of “turn imagination into reality” must be proven, this doesn’t actually mean that Luffy can simply imagine a giant hammer that can destroy the universe and just turn it into reality for example, that’ll simply be dismissed as a No Limits Fallacy and/or a Knowledge Claim. Let’s actually look at the context of what it meant when they said “the ability to turn imagination into reality”:
the context of “turn imagination into reality” is only in reference to how Luffy can imagine the way he fights. This isn’t actually referring to actual turning imagination into reality, just simply referring to Gear 5 Luffy imagining the way he wants to fight, hence given the citation; “And fighting in whatever way he fancies”.

Just in case anyone's not already aware, the Mask is an artifact granting the wearer the ridiculous toon-force power and behavioral traits of Loki, god of Mischief. Best represented by Jim Carrey in the 90's movie, The Mask. And this animation is perfect lol, if Luffy put the mask on it'd be like if he ate a SECOND mythical god-tier devil fruit... with side effects lol.
That is, if it didn’t just fall off his face. Like that one time in the comic.
To be fair, Stanley was a perfect match to activate the toon force powers of the mask, the mask kind of pulls out the darkness in people, when other people wore it they turned into psychopaths, Stanley was a dork, a nerd that enjoyed cartoons but generally a nice guy, the biggest darkness he held back was being even with his awful landlady and he basically channeled Bugs Bunny for everything else. Luffy wearing the mask might not be as powerful simply because he doesnt have the source imagination to mess with reality on the level of bugs bunny/the mask. The mask might not even affect/change him much, aside for literally making him invincible since he doesnt need the strain of gear 5 to do geat 5 shenanigans. And probably eat all the food in several kilometers radius.

This would be the most broken character ever. The Mask has ( according to sources) immortality, duplication, shapeshifting, creation, summoning, transfiguration, size manipulation, creating tornadoes and the ability to stretch his limbs. Luffy is similar to this because he has the power of the toon force. Also, The Mask is known for breaking the 4th wall to the extreme. So even if Luffy got hurt, he would just become overdramatic when it doesn't actually really hurt. What can I say, if this existed, I'd say: "Smokin!" 😂

The Mask doesn't amplify it's wearer's inner darkness, it would be more accurate to say that the Mask brings out people's true colors. By wearing the Mask, they remove their metaphorical mask, enabling them to be what they're really like. Luffy is seemingly not affected by the Mask because he's always true to himself.
If Luffy had the mask he would just be relaxing in a chair staring his enemy's to death 💀

This animation was really good and the person who came up with the idea of “the mask” and how luffy would behave wearing was spot on. You guys clearly had watched the movie and catoon growing up and it shows in this animation. This was very well made and very true to the lore of the characters 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

I honestly agree, I think Luffy is nowhere near tapping Gear 5th's true potential, especially since he tends to waste a lot of his time limit on silly antics, showing he doesn't have complete control of the form either. The fight with Kaidou pushed him to get fairly creative, but his use of the form during Egghead hasn't proven to be quite nearly as creative and free, more like him relying on what worked before.

😮 This actually makes a lot of sense, The Mask drew inspiration from Tex Avery cartoons, and Luffy Gear 5 was pretty much a reference to Looney Tunes(possibly Tex Avery as well), and in fact Kaido vs Luffy was outsourced to Warner Bros. Animation.
Actually Oda drew more inspiration from Tom & Jerry, there's a clip of Jerry blowing up his fist the same way Luffy does.
Oda interview gear 5 is inspire from tom and jerry. Warner bros animations is a hoax, ole loken once work for bunny animations he brought by henry thurlow for big mom vs kid/law finale
Kaido vs Luffy was not outsourced to Warner Bros, that was just a rumour spreading before the episode dropped. It was, however, the first one piece episode to be directed by an English director which is cool too

With luffy, already being broken enough with what the mask can do is unimaginable luffy is already looney tunes based and now he would actually have what would make his literal imagination come true.
The fact that this is actually possible in the manga is just insane. Luffy still doesn’t know that that he has the Nika fruit and still thinks that he’s just a rubber man. So something like this could be possible in the future lol.

At least up to where the anime is, the only thing we know that he doesn't is that he has a sun god Zoan fruit, but we really don't know what the sun god could *do* aside from having the ability to "fight as he pleased", which can be chalked up to being able to stretch and morph his surroundings...all we've seen beyond basic rubber stuff is Luffy sort of getting close to copying Ace's fruit and making goggles from his hair, and while I doubt that's the peak of his abilities, it's just worth noting that we simply can't be sure if he can do something until he does it!
