Amazing track. This my start to Porcupine Tree aswell. Saw Porcupine Tree live Glasgow. The played the entire Fear of a blank planet before it was even released. Superb show and we got to meet the band after the show.
HI Jim but I need to correct U or having a little fun? If U heard this song and album when it first came out? That was back in 2002 or 21 years ago... ✌😎
@@lkeslinke haha, allow me to correct you back! I heard this album for the first time in about 2008/2009. Can’t tender exactly, but somewhere around 15 years ago!
@@JimNewstead I thought that must have be the case but I love your reaction's and please keep those reaction's going! Have a Wonderful Day and More "Steven Wilson" songs coming next week!!!
Me too! No going back after I bought this album on iTunes in 2010. Stab in the dark and they became an instant favorite! Then…every other Steven Wilson project.
Hi Shufflers. Dave from London. Love this track too, and like you, In Absentia was my introduction to the band, and it's still my favourite (closely followed by Deadwing). And Jana, another track The Sound of Musak was a song I first heard on the radio. Plenty of dark lines from Steven Wilson but 'It's So Erotic When Your Make-Up Runs' is one of the more disturbing.
Nice Shuffle. I like most of Porcupine Tree's output, but especially this album. My introduction to them was Signify. My Copy is old and I can't play sides 3 or 4 because I dropped the record many years ago and it is damaged. Yes, I have a special place in my proggy heart for it! Some head bobbling from Nathan, and the slightest headbanging from Jana. Love it🎉
Porky Tree nu-metal in full glory. Not my usual preferred cuppa PT, but within that style it's damn good. Love the discussion about the lyrics. Nathan needs to warn Jana that more of that kind of thing is in store should she decide to get more into PT and Steven Wilson's solo work! My fave song on In Absentia is "Gravity Eyelids", although it's more of a throwback to the older style PT. Note that this was Gavin Harrison's first PT album.
huh, interesting. The heavy introduction had me worried, but then the vocals came in and it’s gorgeous. But then the heavy part comes back. Ah, well. Nothing’s perfect.
This was my introduction to PT. Blew my mind - music and lyrics. Been a fan ever since.
Great song!! Love Jana's first expression hearing that first riff!!
This was where it all began for this PT fan!
Great song. Loved it.

Sounds like an amazing show!
Do one about "White Russian'' of Marillion, please!
Yeah baby! My first ever PT song too. 15 years ago.... love it!

Great song. In Absentia was my introduction to PT as well. Still probably my favorite album of theirs.
As far as I understand In Absentia is about serial killers, like you said.
