Ooh, I know this for Fallout at least. A lot of prewar vehicles used interchangeable fuel cells instead of gasoline, and the Highwayman you can drive in 2 has a modified fuel cell that can be charged with small energy cells and microfusion cells. The Highwayman line of cars was also completely analog so the EMPs from the bombs didn't burn out all of it's systems beyond repair.

Gasoline "going bad" is a truth with modifications: It's the additives which either break down or dissociate from the alkane, meaning that an engine requiring a very specific fuel composition (eg 95 octane) won't be able to use it. But the stuff still burns and/or explodes, and engines with a high tolerance to fuel inconsistency can still run on it.

Osiris: New Dawn. You're encouraged to use the utility tool you find in the wreckage to dismantle your escape pod, amongst other wreckage, into usable salvage. Honestly, that level of thought was what kept me playing, the logic is there, for the most part.
Right?? I hate this trope! Like ur gonna emerge from ur pod or even spaceship sometimes and then sleep on the ground. Cuz reasons. There's soooo many things u could do or write in that would make that whole scenario more believable and emersive.
When I crashed in an alien planet, the inside of the escape pod was really damaged: Lot's of twisted metal pieces and and sharp edges, after removing those, there wasn't much of a shelter left. Besides, the place barely had enough space for "escaping", so there wasn't enough room for 4 people sleeping inside. In Fallout they didn't use gasoline they had switched to nuclear power for almost everything, I do completely agree with your point though. Most egregious example of this I can think of is the movie Doomsday.
Gasoline with ethanol, which most gas has now, goes bad in about three months. The ethanol draws moisture from the air and makes the gas go bad very fast.
Funny, I clicked away before denuvo was mentioned. Doggo decided it was walk time. I return boot up the pc and "Hey! new splat video!" Then silly YT starts the video @00:55. "The first problem you are gonna run into..." Denuvo :/ Have a relaxing and rejuvenating break Splat!
I absolutely agree with your comments on the DRM implementation. I don't support it either, because it usually requires you to install some third-party software to basically spy on your PC just to play a game. I'd rather skip a title that implements DRM, especially the crappy ones.
Actually Fallout is one of the few to avoid the gasoline issue. Basically every power source in Fallout is either solar or some form of nuclear reactor. It might look like a battery or gas generator, but the lore claims all of them are stupidly long lived nuclear devices. Which is explained that due to the resource wars new, longer lasting power sources were made but weren’t produced quickly enough to stop the war. But after the apocalypse, they were the only things still working for power and so, the only ones you see in the game. I think Mad Max was weirder because they had not only all those supplies and a set of police officers, but also a number of vehicles ready and available. There’s almost no indication that anything has happened in the first one until the gang guys show up to avenge the night rider and suddenly the movie lets us know there’s this spreading wasteland slowly encroaching. I mean, it did tell us that the police were on their own to defend the town, but it seemed more like a government failing than an ongoing apocalypse right up until the last twenty or so minutes. It went from a sort of modern old western movie to a post nuclear strike environment fast enough to give you whiplash.
Gas goes bad in about 6 months without stabilizers. I know from personal experience. This is why Farmers have red gas, it's an additive they put in it to keep it stable from Fall to Spring so it doesn't gum up their tanks/fuel lines/engines
this is 100% false. Red dye indicates fuel that can only be used in offroad situations; so a higher sulfer content is allowed and it isn't taxed as heavily are regular fuel (if at all)
When the pandemic started. I didn't use my car for about 10 months. When I finally used it again, it was still working. Maybe it was not the healthiest thing for the engine to run it on old fuel, but it worked.
Ha! That's it. In Fallout nobody is driving anything cuz there is no oil. Only Enclave had access to some of it, and NCR is occupying the sites for ONLY air transport at best. Short distance too. The only working car in all of Fallout was the Highwayman which was an analogue, electric car. Great little knowledge bit about petrol :D
Yeah the DRM killed this for me. Looks ok, but is a dumbed down Rimworld. Going Medieval is a much better choice if someone wants a 3D Rimworld. Still glad you did a video, keep it up.
Ahh, the answer to the gas in Mad Max.. is.. Tetra Ethel Lead! Leaded gas, lasts a very long time. Not healthy but it lasts. Also low grade fuels like Kerosene will last as long as they are kept clean. Modern gas is very unstable with modern additives and ethanol and degrades quickly, about a month in atmosphere, longer in a sealed container. But you need stabilizers to make it last longer. I was interested until DRM.
Not going anywhere, Splat. If you feel you need a break: take the break. Kinda pisses me off people unsub from a streamer cos they're in dire need of a holiday (or worse!). Enjoy, my dude.
I'm not sure if I would compare it to RIM world... because RIM world has a building system that us builders love. You can decide to make funky shapes and choose where to put furniture down.

I would absolutely play this, without the DRM. Could be fun, I like Rim World and Rim World in 3d could be fun, but I'm not dealing with additional DRM.
This is so much better than Rimworld. The equivalent of action figures to paperdolls. The game runs well and very smoothly. Good assortment of characters. Beautifully crafted planet. Action ramps up at a good pace. I'm loving it.
SplatterCatGaming is back and finally grew some balls. Thankyou for an honest review for once. Really looking forward to more of this style. Very refreshing and much appreciated. These "early access" devs have been getting away with trash for way too long.
I'll keep this on my wishlist, if they get rid of that buggy bullshit that is denuvo I'll buy but until then it will sit. Also games with depth can have graphics the sad part is most of the good ones we know were made with single cores in mind which is what tanks their performance so quickly. If the Dev is competent and builds the game from the ground up with multi-core in mind you can have that depth and graphics without a huge performance hit.
With this graphic, imagine getting attack by hundred of enemies (like in rimworld) of bugs or humanlike, with all the shooting effects, movements and then the corpse piled up, it's gonna kill the computer. 😂
About Fallout , if i remember right , cars and most of the stuff are nuclear fuelled , microfusion cell which are explained in lore are sort of miniaturized fusion reactor Game look great
A nitpick but it's kinda irking me that the roof of the structures slopes towards the front/opening. Meaning all the rain run-off is just going to pour down on the entrance. It should run off the back! The main issue though is the predesign characters. A very limited pool and a lot of them seem to be related to each other. So I'd assume they're all from the same ship? So to have others randomly join is weird. It's like they ALL survived but were scattered or something. It's probably done this way to try to make them feel more real and relatable, but I personally find it more disconnecting. With Rimworld I get to choose exactly who I take and with the colonists being randomly generated it's like they are unique to me and my playthrough. You'll never know who you're going to meet along the way as you meet more and more factions and characters. It feels more personal.
there are advantages and disadvantages... being less random means you can choose who you want/need for your colony without pressing randomize like a million times till you find what your looking for... the downside is that everything kinda feels the same if you play the game again cus same character options....
Thanks for pointing out it has DRM. That's a no-buy for me, at least as long as the DRM is still there. Otherwise I would gladly buy it. I'm one of those people whom love Rimworld, but dislike the graphics. Nontheless, I still stacked over 1k hours in it. With many mods. And plans to stack up more hours. At least until the DRM gets removed from this one.
I was going to buy the game then read about the DRM in the reviews, and went back to playing Rimworld not touching DRM with a 100 foot pole. The new RW DLC Biotech comes out Friday, hell yeah!
Not going to click away, mostly because I enjoy your review videos, but I ABSOLUTELY will not buy a game with Denuvo and am very glad you mentioned it dude. Thanks. Now to enjoy you're rambling antics!
15:40 correct me if i'm wrong, but, You can still use gasoline even if it has gone 'bad', it's just much much more inefficient, gives a way worse burn and can damage your engine, but you can still use it if it is an emergency
32:53 - Eye adaptation is an effect like adaptive exposure - when you are in a dark room/cave, everything outside of it became brighter. And vise versa. This effect looks good when it's not overdone - same with most other effects ;-)

Thanks for pointing the denovo thing. 👌
Got me excited right until you mentioned Denuvo.... damn another one to pass on, I will finish the vid and thumbs up out of respect for your effort.
Hope your time off treats you well! Also yeah having denuvo in your game will also guarantee people will prioritize breaking through it first
Gas goes bad in about 6 months without stabilizers.
This game looks right up my alley... until I hear "Denuvo."
Tststs, in the Fallout universe almost all the cars are powered by nuclear energy, not gas. The "gas" stations are actually coolant stations.
Ha!
Thanks for the Denuvo heads up Splat. Gonna give this one a miss.
Looks exactly like what I have been waiting for.
Not going anywhere, Splat. If you feel you need a break: take the break. Kinda pisses me off people unsub from a streamer cos they're in dire need of a holiday (or worse!). Enjoy, my dude.
That's really how Satisfactory and Factorio did it. I like the idea.
Blocking piracy doesn't mean that even 5% of those pirates will actually pay. Most pirates are people who couldn't pay anyway.
I'm not sure if I would compare it to RIM world... because RIM world has a building system that us builders love. You can decide to make funky shapes and choose where to put furniture down.
First impression for me was more Kenshi than rimworld
Fallout lore generally gets around the gas issue by having most of the tech be nuclear powered.
Keep up the energy. I cant keep up with ur continuous commentary but u put a lot of effort into getting new games etc. uploaded and very consistently over ... hmm.. i dont even remember when I started watching ur videos.. its been so long XD... but good work dude. This is hard work...
Denuvo? Har har high seas call once more!
The whole rant about Connor was fantastic 😂
I would absolutely play this, without the DRM. Could be fun, I like Rim World and Rim World in 3d could be fun, but I'm not dealing with additional DRM.
I hope you enjoy your time off, you've been putting a lot of work into it
Also thank you for the heads up about Denuvo, I'm not a big fan of it either
This is so much better than Rimworld. The equivalent of action figures to paperdolls. The game runs well and very smoothly. Good assortment of characters. Beautifully crafted planet. Action ramps up at a good pace. I'm loving it.
Most Fallout vehicles are nuclear powered, and even then, they are mostly inoperable.
"rimworld has been worked on for 150 years" this made me laugh. lol
Finally one person that have not spoken trash for the person that cries after the crash landing.
Thanks for the heads up on drm. That’s an immediate nope from me. You’re 100% right- the only people it punishes are paying customers.
for whatever its worth, in fallout theres explicitly no gas left. all the vehicles use fusion cells
With this graphic, imagine getting attack by hundred of enemies (like in rimworld) of bugs or humanlike, with all the shooting effects, movements and then the corpse piled up, it's gonna kill the computer. 😂
Conner reminds me of Amos from the expanse.
Saaaaaame! I'm glad I'm not the only one
This was the first thought I had too.
About Fallout , if i remember right , cars and most of the stuff are nuclear fuelled , microfusion cell which are explained in lore are sort of miniaturized fusion reactor
Game look great
A nitpick but it's kinda irking me that the roof of the structures slopes towards the front/opening.
13:20 Conner is actually old man Amos still hiding out..
You're simply the best at what you do
I was going to buy the game then read about the DRM in the reviews, and went back to playing Rimworld not touching DRM with a 100 foot pole.
Blueberry bushes are small. That bush is DEFINITELY not blueberry. :D
six days ago, and we have no real game play of the game but a lot of bull of how great this game is already!
Appreciate the DRM warning, probably saved me some time and money. Great video regardless.
thanks for the drm warning its a hard no sale for me thx again
15:40 correct me if i'm wrong, but, You can still use gasoline even if it has gone 'bad', it's just much much more inefficient, gives a way worse burn and can damage your engine, but you can still use it if it is an emergency
Nice looking game. That hippopotapiller was cute.
3d Rimworld should have multi-story buildings... that would make it vastly more worthwhile
32:53 - Eye adaptation is an effect like adaptive exposure - when you are in a dark room/cave, everything outside of it became brighter. And vise versa.
This effect looks good when it's not overdone - same with most other effects ;-)
... i have a crush on Krista....having only spent a couple months trying to 'get' Rimworld on PS4 , I thank you for bringing this to my attention .... I'm definitely on board with this game ...
Just gata say. I have been subscribed for a long time. Splattercat is the best of both worlds. Really like his reviews or thoughts on the games he show cases. Love the humor 😄
Dude, kudos and a like for the DRM heads up straight up front. Non starter for me despite the theme and gorgeous visual first impression.
"There's one that's eating Anette right now." hahaha
My thoughts on you comparing this to Rimworld is you absolutely should, because the devs for this game looked at that and said, "Let's put our spin on that game." The question then becomes are the differences worth the price.
@ splatter In fallout they have tech thats far more advanced than a gasoline refiner, they have energy cells, and chips that control everything with ai.
"People that like Rimworld but hate the graphics": Ironically, one could say that Rimworld was made for people that like Dwarf Fortress, but hate the graphics.
Nova "supermodel" Sones is a sergeant major and highly effective at combat and physical labor... so it's a fantasy game.
