To help with your confusion, James - the primary difference between Sephora and Ulta is that Ulta carries both high-end and affordable brands while Sephora is primarily high-end. Sephora also carries more exclusive brands (Rare Beauty, Glow Recipe, Milk, etc). Fenty used to be a part of that, but Ulta recently started carrying that brand as well. Hope that helps!

Oh I love this video idea! Really enjoyed listening to your opinions on everything - I didn't have that issue with Queen Screen but it never set on my skin, it seems to be best for people with dry skin or in dry climates. “If you want a clay mask that doesn’t dry you out, don’t buy one” 😂😂 spitting the facts today. I actually use the Cetaphil clay mask! It has way more ingredients aside kaolin clay and does not dry down all cracked/stripping on the face. So I don’t particularly agree with the claim that all clay-masks are drying. Sure, good ones are rare but I definitely recommend it :)

    • @qytj1182

      @karatalksaboutstuff7333 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I also found that hilarious.
TBH, kaolin clay isn't terrible, but bentonite and whatever-the-other-one-is (forgot the name) irritate the crap out of my skin. I think both the Cetaphil and Inkey List's masks are kaolin-based. I'm not convinced kaolin actually does anything at all, though!😆
In my experience, if a clay mask works I can expect to break out two days after I use it. If it doesn't break me out, it doesn't work.🤷🏻‍♀️ C'est la vie, right?

I think Ulta started out as a more affordable Sephora. I think Sephora’s poor perks and then even eliminating the free services you get as a rouge member are what caused Ulta to grow into what it is. I’ve worked for both and I can say that even as an employer, Ulta has Sephora beat by a long shot.
ETA: Sephora in my opinion has a complex similar to other luxury brands. They don’t feel like they HAVE to make it more appealing. They expect people to just go there because it is Sephora. Brands will learn soon that isn’t going to fly anymore.

    • @stancexpunks

Ulta > sephora by far! Even the environment is more welcoming. I hate shopping at sephora because it feels like you’re being watched like a hawk bc they assume everyone is there to steal. All the excessive cameras and security and the constant glances from employees that btw also act a bit stuck up
Also ulta carries more affordable brands as well, and carries a lot of hair products as well. They’re more well rounded than sephora.

I just used the ordinary glycolic acid toner and I noticed how amazing my skin looked afterwards. The Ulta rewards system is the best. It is very easy to earn cash back and a lot of it. They also have Beauty seals where you get things like that StriVectin serum for half off.I also like them because they have more like in between brands that aren't so expensive or high-end but they also have premium brands as well.

The Laneige mask works wonders for me. I tried soooo many lip masks and balms, and it's the only one that's not ridiculously expensive that keeps my lips 100% soft. Yeah, Vaseline works similarly, but I end up breaking out, and I hate the taste on my lips.

I bought The Ordinary's Glycolic Acid Toner a few months ago when they offered a 20% discount, so I got it for essentially less than $8 CAD, thinking, I'll buy it to have, but likely won't use.
Well, I gave it a few tries and then reveled in the even skin-tone and texture it gave me.
I absolutely wasn't expecting to see much of anything, but it transformed my skin.
I only stopped using it as frequently because I started using Retinol and Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Toner, which is very nourishing. But if there's one product I truly miss using it's the Glycolic Toner, because it really did work, and it's a MASSIVE bang for your buck.
I used it 3-4x a week for a few months and hardly made a dent.

I actually love my Queen Screen. Like you I hate overpowering scents like rose on my skincare so I was also initially put off. However, unlike yours, mine didn’t go putrid it actually smelt less over time (or I just got used to it) - and what I love about queen screen in particular is the fact it has gold micro glitter in it which give an instant illuminating/dewy finish which is absolutely brilliant for no makeup/low makeup days. It gives the same vibe as Rodial’s soft focus glow drops but actually has skin benefits and I am here for it. I’ve tried Ultra Violette’s fragrance free “gel” which I thought would be like supergoop unseen, but it is a pigmented cream and the delivery is through a hole in the cap (twist to open/twist to close) - I do have a few more UV products to try (got the mini kit to work out which I liked - but then also ended up getting the full size of queen screen anyway 😂) - compared to other “serum” delivery spf I have tried (coola sun silk drops) Ultra Violette’s Queen Screen has been my fave so far.

More from UV, Skinstitut, (Esmi, Eco Tan, Sand and Sky, Frank Body - all the Insta viral ones lol), Alpha-H, Go-To there’s so many 😆. In my opinion most of them are overhyped (not that I’ve tried most of them), especially as there’s such an emphasis on ‘natural’ ingredients here for some reason.

I confess that I've backed off from glowing too much, almost any. I've noticed with a lot of products like Glow Recipe that my skin is glowing too much, and that's an issue for me I recently noticed when hitting the right light. I have acne looking small scars from tiny glass cutting up my face in a car accident, and Holy crap I caught the light last week, and was shocked at how much it was highlighting the texture from the scars on my face... I also had 64cm in stitches in addition to the tiny cuts, and although they easily disappear with Tinted moisturizer, when I'm as glowy as people seem to enjoy these days, they also show up and look hideous... I suppose it's a way to save money. 🤔 But I'm sticking to the matter fresh look from now on... seeing scars is jarring.

Ca 20:00 instead of the Laneige lip sleeping masks: the Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream (the small 7ml jar) it’s pretty much just propolis honey, bees wax and olive oil. Put it on the lips before you fall asleep every night 😴 = 😽👌💋
Beauty Bay also have a great lip balm called ByBeautyBay SOS Lip Balm or something like that and it has borage oil and castor oil and it’s really good.
If you really love the lip sleeping masks from Laneige and can see yourself settle for a dupe, try the lip masks from Revolution Skincare (they look exactly the same).
I love Laneige just as much as the next person, when it comes to their Cream Skin 2-in-1 toner and moisturiser and Cica sleeping mask. But come on! $25 for a lip balm, basically - they’re nickel and diming us!
