I've never once been told that Mars was larger than Earth, and I went to school in the 80s.

    • @badopcode
      @badopcode หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Mars was always said to be smaller. But I remember the teachers getting the scale wrong. They said it was slightly smaller and actually referenced Venus which is slightly smaller then Earth. This is easily explained away as teachers being ignorant, getting detailed information then was not as easy to get as it is today. And also at that time there was active probes sent by the Soviet Union was going on. The last probe in 1984. So Venus was hot on everyone's mind and it was more talked about and how it's slightly smaller then Earth. Scientist would talk about how Mars and Venus are closest to the size of Earth without referencing the scale or giving specific sizes. This is because the planet Mercury and Pluto (now planetoid) are MUCH smaller, and all the other planets are MUCH bigger. Teachers wouldn't bother looking for specific sizes because they thought their information they got straight from a astrophysicist was accurate without knowing they had a misconception.
It's not unusual to disregard sizes and scales when trying to educate kids on astrophysics because the literal scales are awkward to deal with. If you take a 8x11 paper and fill it completely from edge to edge of the sun... the Earth is just a tiny dot. For those 3D solar system models to be accurate in scale the sun would be a yoga ball and Jupiter would be a softball. To put to scale the distance our model would have to completely occupy the gym.
So the teachers were doing the best they could but the scale and scope of the topic, to be honest, is hard for most adults to comprehend. So as a child, it was bound to be riddle full of misconceptions.

Pretty much everything we have been taught, or told, has always been lies. Now, they're just admitting it.
So at least people are being shown these facts about the world/reality.

I was always taught that Mars is smaller, so I'm not affected by that one. There are three Mandela Effects that _do_ affect me. They are-1) The girl that Jaws meets at the end of The Spy Who -Shagged- Loved Me, most *_definitely_* had braces, as our whole family talked and laughed about it at the time. 2) I'm a major Trek-geek-nerd-derp and I never noticed a large decorative crystal on Picard's desk in his "Ready Room" (office). And 3) I was fascinated by the JFK conspiracy in my 20s, and read a ton of books on the subject. I recall very well that the convertible Lincoln limo was a 4-seater, not a 6-seater. I think because I had read so much about it, I would remember the number of occupants, especially since the positioning of those occupants was so important...those three really trip me out..

    So VERY, _VERY_ STRANGE.
Last year (or maybe earlier this year), I was FREAKING OUT, because the INFAMOUS "Hey, Mikey!" Life Cereal TV advertisement had CHANGED from what it "always used to be"...
And now it is has CHANGED BACK. (again??)
I, and MANY other people (it always seems to be about 50-50-ish or so), were claiming that the dialogue in the ad is/was 'always':
    "What's this stuff?"
"Some cereal. Supposed to be good for you."
    "Did you try it?"
"I'm not gonna to try it, you try it."
    "I'm not gonna try it."
    "Let's get Mikey."
    "Yeah."
    >>> "He won't eat it, he HATES everything."
    "He likes it! Hey, Mikey!"
And this is NOW what it is. (as it 'ALWAYS' was, for me, and many others)
But back whenever, it had changed to
    >>> "He'll eat it. He EATS everything."
Or words to that effect. This is what is known by the term Mandela Effect.
But that dialogue makes absolutely NO SENSE whatsoever. (you can kind of justify it and explain it) And that's what "WE" were complaining about. That it had changed and now the whole premise didn't make any sense.
But other people tried to make it make sense, which they couldn't (really), but claimed "you are misremembering -- it's ALWAYS been THIS".
So now THOSE people are probably complaining that it has changed from what it used to be, which, for THEM, it has. So it is now a Mandela Effect for them.
It (apparently) depends on what Earth / World / Universe / Dimension / Reality / Timeline you "come from".
I don't know what's happening, but GEORGE IS GETTING ANGRY!
[ same thing happened not too long ago with "The FLINTstones" cartoon title changing to "The FLINstones" (which does NOT make ANY sense -- WHAT is a "FLIN" Stone??), and then it changed back within a year or so...
AND, in the film "Aliens", actor Michael Biehn USED to yell, "Marines! We are leaving!", but NOW he yells, "Drake! We are leaving!"
There are MANY instances of the Mandela Effect. ]

I just listened to the song and it's actually hard to hear weather she sings "a" or "the", so believing she sang "im a barbie girl, in "a" barbie world, is neither wrong or right and simply how everybody heared it. If you listen really close, than you can actually hear her sing "the" though.
Edit: ET 100% always said "ET phone home".

You know what corrupts memory... stress... high levels of traumatic stress can alter and reshape memories. The mandela effect is related to damages caused by mass hysteria and world wide induced stress. The mandela effect picks up more frequently as stress factors in life are increased. Stagnant wages, increased living costs, confusing subsidaries that offer farmers more benefits for growing less food, failing infrastructures that did not account for population growth, inefficient sewage treatment, and the subversion of cultural activity demonizing our differences causing people to fear their neighbors... and more...
Its easier and more pleasant to believe in an alternative reality than it is to face the horrors of our every day lives. The mind will attempt to protect itself and i theorize these mandela effects are the result of mental health damages being escalated on a large scale in an effort to induce doubt and division... perpetuating this concept will lead to certain people thinking they are from a different world, many of which will look at this world and say to themselves "not my world not my problem" ... and of course there will be people who will dream of being rescued or taken back to the alternative world they believe they belong to... this also touches on the idea of belonging to something and how people feel alienated by stressful traumatic systems that do not have "space" for them to live comfortably...
The mandela effect is a large scale worldwide escapist tactic related to fearful avoidant relationship habits...
...our relationship with ourselves is being attacked, our identities are being gaslit into questioning fundamental aspects of biology, and our innerchild is scrambling to make sense of a crumbling world hinged on debt, shame, guilt and blame...
I believe in a lot of crazy stuff, and parallel worlds with infinite possibilities is very appealing... however, even if there are many worlds crossing over all at once running through various holodynamic simulations of a simulacrum... still, i would sooner question the facts than argue with someone over their opinion on an event that they remember differently...
If youve ever experienced a traumatic moment then you might begin to see how subtle pressures can build up into major stressors...
...note the emotional investments associated to the memories in question...
Please look into how memory works, do not let psychological stress overtake your better judgments.
We can hold the people responsible for these stressors accountable, but first we need to solidify the causes which coorelate to these effects. However, If we dismiss the stressors then they will continue to get worse and even more collective memories will be corrupted and put to questioning erroneously.
Protect your heart, connect your mind.

Nothing ever tops Dolly's braces being gone in Moonraker and "I see white people.." not being the line from Scary Movie. Because in both instances it actually screws up the whole context of the joke. In Moonraker Jaws smiles at Dolly....then Dolly smiles at Jaws revealing she also has metal in her mouth...then the "love at first sight" music plays. Without the braces there's no kinship between the two. I can't even wrap my brain around that one. I seriously would think that they altered the movie in later years if I hadn't tracked down a VHS copy of Moonraker from like 1982 and saw that there were still no braces only three years after the movie came out. And I was too young to have seen it in the theater in 1979 because I was only born in 1981. Creeps. Me. Out..

I don't usually post twice but I gotta comment on the Abe Vigoda thing. From my perspective anyway....this was not a Mandela Effect at all. Abe Vigoda still being alive was a running joke for years and years. Every time some other, most likely younger, celebrity would die there would always be someone saying "Abe Vigoda laughs at them all" joking about how he seems older than God and was still kicking. I distinctly remember when he actually died because I remember texting my friend that "Abe Vigoda isn't laughing anymore." He was also FALSELY reported as dying many times as well as far back as the 80s..
