Bill, I appreciate your comments. It's interesting to note that the second rod is static: there's no line adjustment going on and no dropping back the rod/pulling it forward. There's just forward movement of the lure. When I fish with a novice Spoonplugger or maybe someone who has never fished, I try to emphasize that I want them to JUST HOLD THE ROD. If they're not catching fish right away, they want to manipulate the rod/lure/line. No. JUST HOLD THE ROD. Let the guy driving the boat put you on the fish that's why you're fishing with him. And sometimes I even have to tell myself, JUST HOLD THE ROD!
Lots of action for the first day following a cold front! I appreciate you explaining what you are doing as well as your rationale. You're a good teacher.
Thanks for your comments, Michael. Regardless of the passage of the front, it's springtime and these fish want to be shallow. They're there to spawn but because they're hybrids, they can't. Combine that with the warm water and good color, everything falls into place. Take care, Jim
Shiblyh, I don't really know. I just make a medium cast behind the boat and hope it doesn't foul with the other line. It takes the place of a partner in the boat and it gives me a chance to run a different lure. I usually run a SP, and a crankbait goes on the 2nd rod. They primarily take the SP but if they start whacking the crank, I'll run 'em on both rods and vice versa. Take care, Jim
Hey Jim. Jim Mason from NorthEast Spoonpluggers. Love your videos. I just started 2 TH-cam channels. Jimjam Fishing channel and Jimjam Cooking channel. Take a look and let me know what you think!
Jim, Way to go! You not only catch BIG fish you're a master angler in the kitchen. If you ever want to talk Spoonplugging or videos, give me a call. I'm in the National directory. Keep 'em coming. Jim
Great video Jim - thanks for all you do! It's almost like they know sometimes what rod you're holding

Nice job Jim.. I would like to know the type of structure your fishing. Thank you.
Jeffrey, This is a manmade reservoir. I was fishing roads because ALL the roads go from deep water to the shallows. Take care, Jim
Hello, what rod do you use?
Hi, I'm using a Buck Perry style trolling rod and a St. Croix Eyecon casting rod. Jim
That's a good time!
Willy, It was a reel good time. Take care, Jim
