I watched this, and my best additional advise/question for you for this project is you should've had ALL of your work protected by POWDER COATING instead of just spray painting (I used to do auto/body). In a relatively short time, all this restorative work will get eaten up again by more rust. I've seen alot of REALLY NICE Vega's online just recently, and I would've stripped it down like you did this one and do to it what you did to this one. Back in '76, I had a bicentennial Vega GT 4-speed hatchback from a big Chev dealership, and it was a beauty, and I personally installed a SCAT performance kit in it. The only problem I had with it was it got repoed. In my recent browsing I've found there is the Vega Cosworth, and the Vega Yenko. I think you could've done MUCH BETTER with your time, money and effort by doing some quality research. I didn't know about the above models until just in the last week (10-12-24). The rust was the pig problem with Vegas, next to the thin body metal, of which you showed in this video. Next, was the aluminum block and the lack of rings burning out. Did you make changes in these areas? Food for thought. Browse TH-cam, ALOT of info there on this, inc. dealers and personal sellers that already have the work done. Personally, I would sell/trade your above Vega IMMEDIATELY when you are finished and hunt YT as I suggested. You'll be surprised at what you find.
Bravo, very nice work. I had a 73 Vega GT when I was in the Navy. I had a blast in that little car. It had some tricks in it but nothing like this. You made art. Art that goes zoom.
I missed the eng comp finished shot? What a fantastic car. I was 15-16 lusting for a Vega as my first car, I was going to pump an Olds 215 alum block with a munci. But a 67 SS Camaro got in the way. If you cut the front bumper to mimic a 70 RS Camaro it looks really nice.
Wow thank you so much for doing my favorite car. The Vega. I had almost 50 of them. Made many V8 Vegas. My favorite would be a 73 Vega panel wagon. Thank you again for a great video.......
I loved my Vega, white with black ralley stipes, Monza rims, no need to lower it. In the 80,s it turned heads, I was going to do a V6 mod on it and make it a road racer, but it was hit by a truck in a parking lot at venice beach, it was junk after that
Great video , makes me miss my Vega I had back in the day , 72 Vega wagon with a small block 400 with work done to it , did a lot of street racing in it now running 66 Nova you have a beautiful car car there always loved the look of the front of them ✌✌
@@LivinlifenFL One of my co-workers had a v-8 monza back in the day. I've always considered the Vega the baby Camaro because from the first year of production up to 1977 the Vega pretty much had the same body panels as the Camaro at a smaller scale, and also the headlight assembly was on par with the Camaro. I'd like to find a Vega with a nice small block..
Cool vega looks like its on steroids nice job!! Had a 72 vega when I was 17 that headache was check the gas and fill it with oil but had many good times with me and my friends!!
Nice work looks great 👍 The two dislikes are because those 2 people don’t know how to appreciate long hours of hard work. They would buy something like this and brag that they did all the work ...
Yes when I was a teenager and my mother had two Vegas. She had a Vega wagon but before that she had a Vega GT which looked really cool it was a dark green with the white stripes no power whatsoever but we wrecked that one going to Florida for vacation and that’s how we ended up with the baby blue Kamback wagon. Unfortunately had to use our vacation money to buy the new car so we ended up turning around and going back home to Georgia. Yep all about memories isn’t it.
I own a 1973 GT Hatchback. It has 14K miles and I took it to Ziebart when I bought it so it's 99% rust free. I put a cage in mine because those cars were known to be weak.
I have had some nice cars over the years but if I could have one back as my everyday ride, would be my 71 Vega hatch back, with four cylinder replacement upgrade!
Love Vegas front end looks like a Split Bumper Camaro. You did a great job turned out gorgeous. The rims you chose are the only part I do not like. A very dated style of rim. I think a set of a newer style black rim would make her sinister! Everything else is fantastic. Enjoy her!
I had the DOBI catolog from the 80's. They did Monza and Vega stuff too, ended up going the Chevelle route. Still have the DOBI stickers sent with the catalog. Not sure if they are still in biz.
You built a car that GM could of built back when they first produced this car, of course it would of been a SS 350 engine for the time. Way more units would of sold of course hurting sales for the Camaro and Corvettes. This car then, like yours here today, would of been a super sport car, would of outrun everything back then!
Can you build me an exhaust system?? lol. I set up my 75 with side pipes dumping before the rear wheel, and boy is it loud and obnoxious from the driver's seat. Sure would be nice to have a setup like yours. Guess I better get better at fabricating.
Your headers look 1000% better than the crappy leaky ones I paid top dollar for also. Sigh... Does your oil pan leak? I paid top dollar to the same idiot for that too and have never gotten it to seal. *gripe gripe complain* heh
As a former gt Vega owner .you are the best representation of restoration.
Great job ! The legend lives .

Best and most labor intensive Vega build ever!
Great work I miss my Vega.😊

Magnificent! I love Vega's and this one is about the best looking one I've seen. Very well done.
I had a v8 Vega in the late 1970’s. Ran mid 11 350 and a 350 turbo . Low budget but high fun
Whoa...lots among of hrs in modification cutting and welding..gee
Impressive works

What a fantastic job!!! The work here by far exceeds the best I've ever seen!
Always wanted one beautiful beautiful job nice and clean very well presented

I always considered the vega the baby Camaro. Ive owned a few but never got to do a v-8 swap. Great video!
The baby Camaro was the Monza 2+2 I had a one black on black that was a fun little car.

Man...nice fab. I LIKE HOW U BENT THE CAGE TO CONTOR THE WINSHILD POSTS. TOP NOTCH.
My Brother dropped in a small block 350 in his. This was back in 81 when he did his. Super light car that went super fast.
A 327-350in a Vega! Love the wagon.
There is the thing called moving pictures ... would have been nice to see it running and moving.
You put the work in, great job!!!!
Parents had a 71 Vega wagon they're a good-looking cars
Nice work looks great 👍 The two dislikes are because those 2 people don’t know how to appreciate long hours of hard work. They would buy something like this and brag that they did all the work ...
Either that or they are Ford or Mopar owners...
Mr ClassicMetal i own two fords. Lol. But my first car was a 77 Vega and loved that car.
@@styga1969 That Vega is one of the coolest looking cars that I've seen. The design is spot on, and it looks even better after that upgrade.
WHOA !
Hats off, nailed it 👍
Beautiful car, thanks for sharing.
Sharp looking Vega.👍
Very impressive engineering and craftsmanship. The roll cage ruins it IMHO but hey, I'm not the one paying for it!
Its almost mandatory with a Vega. Tube Chassis with roll cage to stiffen.
Beautiful piece

that car is a cream dream. I wish I had the knowledge and money to do this sort of thing
They rusted out bad in Ohio nice looking car!

This is my style. It looks beautiful. If I had money I get it and slap v6 for power since v8 may wants more fuel. Though
I have had some nice cars over the years but if I could have one back as my everyday ride, would be my 71 Vega hatch back, with four cylinder replacement upgrade!
I like this cars looks pretty cool
Very clean restomod.👍🏻
What gm should have done back in the day ,Ford and maverick

Rocket science I reckon
Or call Don Hardy. For a Vega smallblock swap kit, circa 70s. Cool hoods, spoilers, etc.

I have had a 1971 V-8 Vega since 1976 and would like to know where you found the rear link arms. I have a narrowed 12 bolt.
Awesome

Nice
Well done
Baby camaro love it
THIS would be great if the camera wasn't zoomed to within an inch of the content and scrolling. WTF
Good thing ,Britt tried ,
WTF!!! 17 minutes and not one second of actual video of the car running.
great job to bad we couldn't see the motor or how it sounded tho
I couldn't tell but what did you do with the Vegas trim pieces did you black them out?
NICE 👍
Woulda been nice to see it move. Heck, it's a video, not a magazine.
DOES IT START?
Quick 😎knew of 75vega Corvette motor scarry
U bread a mustang and toreno u get a maverick
sell it to me💔
Car
I had 2 vegas, they will never be a cool car.
I would have given it a wrap job, had some pictures taken and then pushed it over a cliff. Nice job though.
who would waste this much money on a garbage car
Well that sucked
