I love how Converse look with different outfits. Unfortunately I've always found them too narrow on the toebox for me to be comfortable so I can't wear them but always think they look great on others. They are a classic look that will never go out of style.
For a girl who needs comfort, these shoes have zero support ☠️

ALSO ALSO ALSO! Like let us heal our inner child and teenager and wear what we wanted to wear when we couldn’t buy our own shit and reclaim it. Ok I’m done, love you!
I will say that not having a TikTok really closes me off from these so called “trends” or “dated” styles. And I actually really like that. I wear what I want and don’t ever feel the pressure of being “cheugy”. I just feel that a lot of these things are very social media based but not as present in the real life aspect
For me, I tend to avoid very trendy things knowing that as soon as they're in, they'll be out. If it's something I absolutely love that just happens to be trendy for 5 minutes, then I don't care, but I agree--not looking at this stuff on TikTok is def a good thing for me.
As a Gen Z-er myself, I am sick of my generation’s major hypocrisy when it comes to identity. In the same breathe we will preach body neutrality/positivity & then put ourselves down for our body. Or we will tell people to express themselves however they want, but then also change “trends” in the matter of weeks. I remember when I was in high school, trends didn’t change for YEARS. Like ??? I cannot keep up. In reality, the other people my age in my REAL life aren’t like that at all, but the second I get on instagram or tik tok, I can’t escape the worst representations of my generation. NONE of my friends have ever made a comment about me rewearing an outfit or wearing “old” clothes. I have to ground myself a lot though because it’s so easy to get swept into tik tok ideology
very self aware. also it probably has to do with the fact that youth can be insecure because you still don't fully know yourself.. we continually evolve until we die. :-)
True. As a fellow gen Z I can say that I stopped following trends completely because of post COVID fashion mindset of our generation. I'm a proud wearer of mid to high waisted skinny jeans even though they're not trendy now. Baggy pants make me look very short and most of them make some kind of a sound and I hate them, no matter how much my generation loves them.
I have a gen z sibling, very on trend, but I can’t help but seeing everything as passing. Kind stopped riding the wave since the early 2010s. I think there’s a strong difference for teens/kids/YAs in knowing when to put the phone/cpu down. These days, nearly every space is inundated with “influencers” and ads and the whole insta/tt/twitter lifestyle. I grew up when we had dial up, and we were allowed internet for 30 minutes TOPS. You really gotta regulate usage n exposure. That’s something I learned being on the cusps of internet blowing up. Love the innovation, but it really feels like a gateway sometimes lol
Honestly, I think once you get offline you realize that most normal people do not care about trends or if they do they just incorporate it into what they already wear. Especially as adults who usually spend a lot of time curating their wardrobe. What’s trendy just does not really matter lol
as a cottagecore girly, my version of camo or leopard print is a ditsy floral. for me, it’s a neutral and you can pry it out of my cold dead hands, i couldn’t care less if it’s trendy. most of us gen z folks don’t relate to trend-cycling tiktokers either. thanks for this carrie
I have been wearing Converse since the mid-90s... I never gave them up, and have never I cared if they're "in" or not. They are just my favorites, period. Converse for life!!
same 😭 some of them aren’t my fashion taste, but as a 17 year old that loves fashion, i really hate the whole “trend thing” lol, i’ll wear what i want to!
The converse one is so silly to me. I'm not taking advice from people who wear HOKA's hahahaha Keep on rockin your "outdated" styles Carrie, like you said we're not trying to look 20.
my sister (millenial) was trying to tell me i needed Hokas. i was like hmmmm no. and thats how i feel about most of her 'fashion'. dont get me wrong i follow trends and incorporate ones i like but i see no reason to buy over priced poorly made shoes when I have higher quality ones for various activities (gym, trail running, converse and adidas for casual every day wear, etc). meanwhile her Hokas caused her major foot and ankle problems/pain. yeah. ill keep my shoes, thanks.
I’ve been thinking about this so much lately. I’m almost 30, I genuinely don’t care what 20 year olds think of what I wear. It’s all about me now bb😂 ALSO I will never ever get rid of my pop socket. I do. not. care. if it makes me look ‘old’
I love converse but when the sneaker trend hit I realized how UNCOMFORTABLE they are. I can never wear them if I do a lot of walking, the foot pain is just too much.
It’s so weird how they’ll make fun of “older people” for trying to “dress too young” but then tell them their style is “outdated”? It’s like..what do they WANT from us 😂 I like knowing trends bc they can be fun, but I mostly just incorporate a watered-down version of it into my own style/wardrobe. Also they’ll never take my converse OR flannels away!!! lol
When you were talking through all of your fashion era (like cheetah print and graphic tees) it made me realize I've been with you for so long!! Since 2015! you're the best :)
I totally remember you getting hate for not curling the ends of your hair! I was an 80's teen, and I LOVED the Flashdance off the shoulder, style sweatshirt. I had a navy sweatshirt that I cut to be that style, and I wore it to death! I finally got rid of it a few years back, and I miss it!!! I have to say, other than that, I've really never been into fashion too much, but YOU make it SO MUCH FUN!!!! I'm at that point where I don't go by trends. I wear what I like and what I think looks good on me. You inspire me. I'd love to see more of these videos!
She said Converse and camo pants as I’m LITERALLY wearing both lmao. I love the baggier cargo version of camo pants as opposed to the 2016 jogger bottoms because that version feels dated to me
Does anyone else take a while to get on trends and then wonder if the thing is still trendy? It took me so long to move away from skinny jeans into straight leg pants, and I think I'm several years late to being confident wearing bucket hats. I bought a bucket hat on clearance then realized people hate them and they only had a brief time in popularity
omg it took me so long to get into really high waist pants and then out of skinny pants... but i discovered that i feel most confident in high waist wide leg pants :) which i used to wear in 5th grade already ironically
I've never seen wearing a flannel around your waist as a trend, it was always that I was too warm and I either didn't have a bag or the bag was too small. Where I live it gets really cold in the morning and hot during the day. Totally agree about the converse lol I hate people say they're dated
When people declare things as “out” it’s merely a desperate attempt to exert some shred of adult power through shallow, superficial means. It displays a lack of awareness, experience and knowledge (aka immaturity).
I think it’s interesting how certain trends created other trends. Like I think the braided bang became a thing BECAUSE we all had side bangs/swoop bangs and needed a way to get them out of our faces sometimes. And for the last couple years the trendy jeans have been cropped mom jeans and straight legs jeans because everyone has been wearing blundstones. I’m sure blundstones will be out as soon as wide leg long jeans take over again. They don’t have a cute toe to stick out of your long jeans.
I actually hated the look of blundstones until I saw someone wearing them with flared jeans or maybe it was bootleg jeans! Now I have a pair and realized they surprisingly go with almost anything, even some dresses
im gen z (on the older side) yet I still seen trends come and go and come back again just from the lifetime that I experienced it's wild. I learned that if I truly love something, I won't let go of it. It will come around again even if it's not trendy anymore. More importantly, it builds your sense of identity to listen to what you really like instead of being persuaded by trends and current times all the time. Also probably have to start building a thick skin because i know in 10 years time the next gen will probably roast me alive with what i wear now so I gotta learn to be unbothered
I just got obsessed with “the mountain” shirts! I have a tiger, cat, dolphin and a wolf one. I would love to see a “how to style mountain shirts” video if you end up thrifting more. Also would love a part 2 of this video. I know skater skirts are out but I’m bringing them back because they’re such a classic for me, especially a red one. I wore it all the time!
Totally agree. Where whatever you want. One thing about GenZ that I don't think I will ever understand is their passion for individuality yet have such strong opinions when others don't look, act, or dress the same as them? Life is too damn hard and short not to wear whatever the hell you want!
I love the hair! I don’t follow trends, I wear what I want and I tend to lean towards classic old money….. even though I’m super poor!! Love ya Carrie!!
I've heard the camo pants thing, but at the same time some young'uns I follow are saying they love camo. As soon as someone says it's out, someone else will say it's in...like ten minutes later.
Props for this video, girl. Still a lover of camo, leopard, converse, swoop bangs etc. Must be the 80’s baby in us. Also, another thing that’s “out” for me: listening to the opinions of literally anyone regarding my style, home decor, body size, etc. ✌🏻😊
Trends are fun fashion but they aren't STYLE. I've worn skinny pants, oversized shirts since I saw Aubrey Hepburn wear them. They became part of "my style" and who I am. In fact, I get annoyed when parts of "my style" become trendy. I think everyone has a "core" style. Those pieces never get donated.
I'm late Gen X/Xennial, so flannels around the waist (and Converse Chuck Taylors) were peak early-nineties teen for me and I'll never stop. Wear what you like!
Flannel shirts are great for the inbetween weather. If it’s warm you pop it round your waist when it cools you pop it on I’ve loved them since the 90’s! You can bury me in one!
Converse shoes are outdated? Converse??? Are they serious? They're the most comfortable shoes in the world! I have three pairs and I'm never getting rid of them, no matter what the younglins say.
I love to hang out in the area around a major college campus here, the kids all wear what we did 20 years ago. Its very like early 2000s. they even brought back wearing pajama pants in public
converse are so classic. yeah i don't wear my collection of random colored low tops i started in highschool, but i stay reaching for my black hightops and my white hightops.
i had about three storage bags of clothes i bought in 2000-2004 that i gave away to a teenager around two years ago. after i did i was like man, i should have sold all of that, it's authentic y2k! it blows my mind to see all of that stuff being worn again. i. would. never.
The mountain shirts/crewneck sweaters will never leave my closet. I love throwing an oversized one over jeans or shorts and sneakers on a reg day. Vintage ones usually are so soft and comfy so yeah, these will be a forever staple in my closet.
i think that the off the shoulder tops have definitely come back in style already. i’ve seen so many people on tiktok thrifting very nice sweatshirts to cut one shoulder out of them.
I just turned 50. I live wearing glitter makeup glitter nails. I love my glitter converse sneakers. I have 5 tattoos. Neon colored clothes, my Lisa Frank crocs with gem jibitz, leopard crocs and silver glitter crocs. I live in NJ and obsessed with anything leopard. I have leopard boots, fur coat and clothes. My glam beauty room is hot pink and black.
I love this perspective, so eye opening. I'm 47 and admittedly quite immature and trendy for being almost 50! But honestly I love the idea of doing whatever you like, I get compliments from women of ALL ages when I do what I love w/ trends and style. Loving camo pants forever and cheetah or leopard can always work (or not work, depending). I am dying laughing about "a call from swoops past", love it. I loathe Converse and always have, though...not gonna lie. I cringe so hard when I see my peers wearing them especially. One of my besties got married in them. Just no!
Something that Gen Z may not realize, is that not everyone can afford the trend at the time it’s trendy. Sometimes people want to wear past styles because they finally have the finances to purchase items that they desired when they were younger. Live and let live.
I’ve never been one to pay attention to, let alone follow trends. A few of my current fashion favorites are green army pants, mom jeans and claw clips. I’d love to see a part 2! Love from Wisconsin 🫶🏼
I have my cold shoulder and crushed velvet shirts saved for when they come back around 🤞🏼I also love the idea of giving my old clothes to my future kids one day so I’ve started saving old favorites!
OMG, I miss my braid era. I used to do sooooo many different kinds and it was great cause i was the only person I knew who did them. It was so much fun
Even as a Gen z myself, I find myself constantly feeling werid if I wear something considered "outdated" but I just remember that everything comes back around and in the end, no one really cares what you wear outside of social media. Just wear what makes you feel good and you will look good.
omg the cut out neckline t-shirts and sweatshirts are my favourite, i cut out the neck of basically all my shirts bc i have very large bazoinkas lol so a regular t-shirt neck just makes them look even more oversized. i love how it falls off the shoulder at times and how i can put my shirt on without my hairstyle getting messed up too! glad to hear some cut out neck appreciation
I have been wearing black converse high tops since I was 11 and I'm not gonna stop now. As far as a trend I miss, I miss that you could just part your hair however you wanted. I look like Weird Al when I try to part my hair in the middle. That's great for a Halloween costume, but I look more like a 1940s vintage babe with a side part, so that's what I'm sticking with. I really believe that we are all having a worse time by chasing trends and ditching things we like when they get outdated or forcing ourselves to wear styles we dislike. I live in New England and my teenage cousin will not wear a coat because it's not trendy. The children are freezing, we can't go on like this 🙃🙃
I love camo. Have a jumper in camo colours but it's all different types of leaves. And i never thought leopard ever goes out of fashion. Maybe the shade of the print 🤔 but always in style
Ah I just got my first silk leopard print midi skirt from my local Reformation store and I love it! Never was into converse though, as a kid I always thought they made my feet look clownishly big and I never outgrew that bias against them, so it was Vans and Keds for me.
I totally feel the same way! I think my main issue (and maybe yours too) is that when I’m in to something I’m in to it HARD. Like I went through a phase where I loved linen shirts so I brought one in every colour I could find, I liked brown for a while so EVERYTHING must be brown, same with sage green, and converse and band shirts and everything else. And because I buy so many of them and wear them so often, it feels like a phase so I’ll wake up one day and decide I’m not in the phase any more and get rid of ALL of them. Whereas if I just brought one or two of the things I liked it wouldn’t seem as much of a trend and more of just one part of my style so I can continue wearing them forever. If that makes sense? I’m making such a conscious effort not to do that this year.
The off the shoulder shirt, with a colorful pop from the Old Navy tanks that I wore under EVERYTHING. And I agree Converse is classic, but I don’t know I’ve ever heard them described as comfortable! I think they are a main reason I have bad feet as an adult lol. I would also like the “bump” hair style to come back. It’s all I know how to do.
I noticed you deleted/made all of your storytime videos private. I totally get that you’ve evolved and changed and that you took a different direction with your channel, but I’ve always loved to go back to them for a marathon - for years now. They were fun and comforting and most importantly, they were the reason I found your channel. I would love for you to consider to make them public again (but of course I understand if you don’t want to) ❤❤
We all fall victim to trend chasing at some point in life, but its funny when you finally get comfortable with yourself and your favorite look and find yourself going in and out of style involuntarily over the years.... I'm a huge concert goer, and have a big collection of band tees I have gotten at shows over the years. I wear them consistently with skirts, jeans, just tights, whatever. From what I hear, that's not "in" at the moment, but hell, who cares? My style of dress is a part of my personality, so I guess I'm just out of style this season.
You hair cut is so cute! We are definitely from the same age group from these iconic trends, bangs swoop and french twist bangs are for life! I got the mid-part curtain bangs too, because they are in style, about a year ago, now i'm hearing it is going out already... for someone who always had a side part with swoop bangs, it was a big moment for me! But I just wanted to say that you look super cute with this hair style, very salon fresh
I wear flannels all winter long. Skin allergies prevent me from wearing synthetic fibers so all natural clothing it is. I don't care if they are in style because I'm never in style.
Converse out of style! Never! I have been obsessed with Converse for a little over a year now and have 15 pairs. My favorite are my Batgirl ones, my gold sequin high tops, and my black and white buffalo plaid wool ones. I embroider them with flowers too. As a 63 year old teacher, they are my go-to comfy shoes that I wear with skirts and dresses. If they are out of style, that just means cheaper prices on Poshmark!
Your actually the person who motivated me to buy a leopard print midi skirt. I found one that I’m comfortable with because I’m not comfortable in silk skirts. Its a pleated mesh overlay one. I still have it and I love wearing still. I usually wear it with a white tee and a cropped jean jacket. I agree we should wear what we like . Screw keeping up with trends (unless it’s for fun).
Converses are a classic. They'll never go out of style.
seriously. they are my FAV shoe
theyre ugly
I love how Converse look with different outfits. Unfortunately I've always found them too narrow on the toebox for me to be comfortable so I can't wear them but always think they look great on others. They are a classic look that will never go out of style.
I know right! This is absurd

Yes yes yes!
I spent my pandemmy buying stuff on poshmark that I had or wanted 15-20 years ago.
YES 👏🏼
My favorite comment of 2023 😂
That’s where I’m at right now! 30s is for exploring who we were at 13.

They are quite social media, fashion house trends more than what people are wearing, or wanting to wear, except maybe if you live in NY city, or LA.
Agree with you. If I want to know what's trending IRL, I look at what is in the trendy shops at the mall.
For me, I tend to avoid very trendy things knowing that as soon as they're in, they'll be out. If it's something I absolutely love that just happens to be trendy for 5 minutes, then I don't care, but I agree--not looking at this stuff on TikTok is def a good thing for me.
The irony is cheugy is now outdated 😅

yep. going out in public is always a great reminder to my chronically online self that 99% of people don’t give a crap 😂
Graphic t-shirt, leopard midi skirt, and combat boots is still one of my favorite outfits to this day!
Saaaaaaameeeee! Makes me feel like a badass ✌🏼
Me too!
i didnt even know this went out of style!!!
leopard print will never go out of style to me lol, it’s practically a neutral 💀
Same!
“We’re grown, we’re not trying to dress like 20 year olds” 🙌 🙌 ❤
aren't 20yr olds jusy trying to dress like elder Mills or GenX anyways......

Yes, as an older gen z, I wear what I want to wear and what makes me happy. Love that ❤
Love a floral. I'm with you!
I love florals too, especially the millefleurs kind or a really cute, romantic print.. 🤩
You can bury me in my Converse. Trends be damned.
converse are timeless. they’ve never been out of style
I feel like Gen. Z tells us these things are out of style, and then when we donate them, suddenly they’re in style and thrifted 😅
I have been wearing Converse since the mid-90s... I never gave them up, and have never I cared if they're "in" or not. They are just my favorites, period. Converse for life!!

Okay the off the shoulder shirts (especially the sweatshirts) with converse were my entire wardrobe. I'll bring those back with you!!!
girl the cut-off neck sweatshirts are coming back in! i’ve always loved the look
Your hair is so super cute like this I Love it 😍
I just got obsessed with “the mountain” shirts!
I love flannel shirts. I live in AZ so I use them as jackets during the winter. I've loved them since the 90's.
Totally agree. Where whatever you want. One thing about GenZ that I don't think I will ever understand is their passion for individuality yet have such strong opinions when others don't look, act, or dress the same as them? Life is too damn hard and short not to wear whatever the hell you want!
Converse and a flannel around my waist is like a uniform for me 😅
this is the exact reason i’m going to start archiving pieces i KNOW i will love (and keep) forever
I feel once I hit 40 I decided I didn't care about trends. Like flannel has been popular in my mind since the 90's and always will be
cute. flannel was also popular in the 70's! (boomer here)
Who says I can’t wear my converse with my dress? 😂
Baby, that’s just me
My grandma used to say her favorite color was leopard print
I love the hair! I don’t follow trends, I wear what I want and I tend to lean towards classic old money….. even though I’m super poor!! Love ya Carrie!!
I exactly remember that phase when you wore your Leopard print maxi skirts in 2018. I loved that and imitated it ❤
I've heard the camo pants thing, but at the same time some young'uns I follow are saying they love camo. As soon as someone says it's out, someone else will say it's in...like ten minutes later.
I'm obsessed with Carrie's new haircut and color 😍 she looks incredible 🔥
your hair looks amazing
You can bury me in one!
converse are a staple for me! i will never stop wearing them
Converse shoes are outdated? Converse??? Are they serious? They're the most comfortable shoes in the world! I have three pairs and I'm never getting rid of them, no matter what the younglins say.
your content makes me SO happy. i've been looking for someone who is also in their 30's and is dressing themselves how THEY want regardless of trends
Would’ve loved to see a 2023 thrift favs video from you :/
i had about three storage bags of clothes i bought in 2000-2004 that i gave away to a teenager around two years ago. after i did i was like man, i should have sold all of that, it's authentic y2k! it blows my mind to see all of that stuff being worn again. i. would. never.
The mountain shirts/crewneck sweaters will never leave my closet. I love throwing an oversized one over jeans or shorts and sneakers on a reg day. Vintage ones usually are so soft and comfy so yeah, these will be a forever staple in my closet.
I need that shirt, I work in horse racing and it’s perfect!!! I have almost every one of the ‘out of style’ trends u mentioned😂
Yes the Flash Dance style tops that came into fashion in the '80s! One sleeve going totally off. Loved it!
i think that the off the shoulder tops have definitely come back in style already. i’ve seen so many people on tiktok thrifting very nice sweatshirts to cut one shoulder out of them.
The only thing that’d make this better is if you styled an outfit for each trend hehe obsessed w you
I just turned 50.
YOUR HAIR IS GORGEOUS! The way it’s styled is definitely made for you.
I’ve never been one to pay attention to, let alone follow trends. A few of my current fashion favorites are green army pants, mom jeans and claw clips.
I’d love to see a part 2! Love from Wisconsin 🫶🏼
Flannels are a classic!!! And as someone who lives in the mountains, everyone wears them and wearing them around the waist is still cool!
Agreed! Converse will never be out of style.
I have my cold shoulder and crushed velvet shirts saved for when they come back around 🤞🏼I also love the idea of giving my old clothes to my future kids one day so I’ve started saving old favorites!
Your hair is so cute!! It suits you so well
OMG, I miss my braid era. I used to do sooooo many different kinds and it was great cause i was the only person I knew who did them. It was so much fun
The off the shoulder top is definitely coming back! I have seen a lot of new york influencers wearing them!
Gen Z’s constant criticism of Millennials is so odd, I never once paid attention to Gen X? Loved the video! ❤
I’ve been wearing Converse sine I was 15. I’m 52 now. I’ll never give them up 😂 I’ll be a little old lady wearing them.
The children are freezing, we can't go on like this 🙃🙃
Living for your hair!!!
Omg you’re hair absolutely suits you! The curtain bangs are everything!!!
I don't care if they are in style because I'm never in style.
i just have to say your hair looks SO cute!
I feel this way about checkerboard print, I’ll forever love it idc
"a call from swoops past!"
LOVE THIS
Your actually the person who motivated me to buy a leopard print midi skirt.
