If you want true peace, you have to go to the giver of peace, Jesus Christ. Without Him you will never experience eternal peace. I am sharing my best friend's story with prayer that someone will find it.
      Precious Memories-By Sonya Lakey
      Family Story
Little did our family of six know that Friday evening, September 24th, 2021, would be the last night our family would be complete. We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day.
My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening.
That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears. Hesitantly, he told us our son had fallen off of
a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed; they still are.
Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, our family has such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son and brother again. You see, when Ethan was a young boy, he was saved; he put his faith in Jesus alone to forgive his sins and to take him to Heaven when he died. He realized some very important truths from the Bible that he would want to share with you.
      His Story
Everyone is a sinner. Sin is any violation of God’s Law. God is holy, just and righteous, and He cannot allow sin in His presence. Ethan realized that he - like all of us - had sinned; and his sin separated Him from God.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” (Romans 3:23)
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12)
He understood that, because of his sin, he deserved to spend eternity in Hell.
“For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23a) [Wages: price]
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)
Ethan believed that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the price for all sin when He died on the cross - because His sinless sacrifice was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous, holy God. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, but He arose the third day, triumphant over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus is alive today!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Ethan was sorry for his sin, repented (turned), and received by faith the free gift that God offered to him.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
“...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b)
Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. He is alive in Heaven with Jesus today; and because of this great HOPE in Christ, we know we will see him again soon - not because he was a great kid, but because of his faith in the great Saviour!
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)
      Your Story
What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son.
The Word of God is very clear that there is only One Way to Heaven.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
We did not know that Ethan would step into eternity that day; however, because he put his faith in Jesus alone for his salvation, Ethan was ready to go. Some day - perhaps today - you will take your last breath here on earth, and you will step into eternity. Where you spend eternity is determined by what you do with Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him or reject Him? You are not promised another day or another breath. Eternity begins soon - Are you ready?
“...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” (Acts 16:31b)
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
“(...behold, now is the day of salvation.)” (2 Corinthians 6:2c)

This interview was so much better than what I expected!
Our culture just wants to rush us through sadness and even depression. Then we feel worse for being sad or depressed! But yes, we need to deal with grief, spiritually, with spiritual principals and not try to wisk it away with "positive thinking." This business of just choosing to not be sad is crap. Honour those dark times...go through it. If it gets bad where you think you're going to hurt yourself or you can't function after a period of time, get help but it's OK and normal to be sad and depressed when you lose a loved one. There is no time limit and the stages of grief are not linear. They keep changing. Everyone's process is different.
I loved the prayer at the end.
I hope that everyone that comes here in search of answers to their grief, is comforted in their grief. Know you're not alone. I and all those that came here, came here for a reason. We're going to make it...one day at a time and sometimes one breath at a time. Be gentle with yourself show yourself compassion in your grief. I'm trying to practice it myself.
    Peace.

Having experienced trauma, loss of a child, etc. I found this to be so excellent and healing! Listening to this felt so validating because I have been saying, "Why on earth do people have to "fix" grief?" Our culture is uncomfortable with death, especially a child dying and I love how she talks about "not looking". Look people look!

I have lost my mother to suicide, my sister-in-law died in a house fire,
and my brother overdosed on Rx pills... My advice to all from dealing
with the tragedies in my own life is this:
Chin up! You can choose to allow the sadness to take over your life OR you
can choose to live life to the fullest, everyday! Have fun, smile, laugh
because the one thing that we will always take with us in the end it
the experiences we have shared in this life. The energy of 'love and life'
    is eternal.
I choose life and I choose to smile and hopefully
make people laugh through my channel. Grief can not take over your
beautiful energy unless you allow it to. So don't ;)
If you're here then chances are that you are trying to fight the negative energy
and surpass the stages of grief with flying colors. I believe in you and
I know you can do it! Keep doing what ever it is that makes you smile
    everyday!!
    I love all of you

The biggest insight I took away from this conversation is that my depression is perhaps not clinical at all...I’m hyper aware of the world and her despair, I feel such a sense of loss for those who are living through war and discord, hunger and pain, illness and death
I feel I can make a difference, I don’t know when, I don’t know how, but I know deep down that destiny is pointing me in the direction of possibilities and causes much bigger than myself

I have been depressed for about 7 years and I have gone through a lot of moments where I feel sadness, lonely, and a lot of anger to the universe for making me experience all the painful moments that I have gone through in the past 7 years but this video definitely enlightened me. Thank you Marie and marianne williamson for making such an amazing video for the world to see and for making such a difference in the world. God bless you both!! Marie, I really enjoyed this video and I hope you make more videos that are related to spirituality.

God this is so interesting. I am currently on anti-depressants and as you said I only got a paper to fill in and 5 minutes later I was prescribed several different medications. Something I talk to my doctor and my therapist about is just what you said about being sad for the world, even though you're not experiencing it first hand. I feel sad because of how we treat animals and the planet (I am vegan), about how the oceans will be destroyed in 2045 and we won't be able to live. I am sad about all the things I hear on the news and these things haunt me every minute of the day. Yet the doctors and therapists tell me that I have to let it go. That I have nothing to do with it. That that's somebody else's problems, not mine since I do what I can. Just take your meds and it will all be alright. But it won't be. I'm trying to protect my pack just like those monkeys. I realize that now. I have felt so lonely in this, so sad that my sadness is being brushed off, professionals saying I "should" not be sad about these things. But as you say I am just sensitive and loving, so, of course, these things hurts me. I am seriously thinking of going off my meds after watching this. I am allowed to feel the things I'm feeling and I should not be silenced by medications. I have to educate the world about the facts that haunt me, or we won't be able to exist at all. Thank you. And I'm sorry this was so lengthy. This was just totally life changing for me.

naturally_sofia I resonate with everything you have said here. If you do come off meds it has to be done very slowly under supervision or the side effects can be horrific. I've known ppl stop meds and end up in hospital with psychosis so please be careful. I'm on meds and want to reduce them but I've hit another low point so I'll see how I feel later this year. Re world suffering, you can only relieve suffering in your immediate vicinity, and ruminating about the horrors of the world causes illness. I've avoided news for 15 years and I used to work for BBC News24 in UK! Things still filter through which horrify me despite a news cull. I wish you well and hope you find some peace x

Hi, Sofia, everything you say resonates with me. We are quick to hide our feelings about society and the world we live in. I'm very sensitive and suffer so bad with depression and anxiety. The world is a scary place. We need to be open and do what we can and not be frightened to be who we are in essence. I've come of antidepressants. On them I still felt bad and it's hard everyday but I'm tired of pretending or trying to be someone I'm not. Your post helps me to know I'm not alone! I pray things will change sooner than later. Having lost my sister to an unexpected tragedy, and barely starting to overcome grief now after two years, I found this teaching as one of the most relevant, practical and important I have listened. When she was describing how we may feel sad as a result of what we see in the world, I got goosebums because I felt she was talking directly to me. Amazing. Thank you.

As a person with a major psychiatric illness that has been a serious issue since childhood, I want to say, if you have Bipolar Disorder type 1 or Schizophrenia, psychiatric drugs are appropriate to treat delusions and hallucinations. She's talking about considering NOT medicating yourself if you're having normal human experiences. Normal human experience may not require meds.

I lost my Mom 8 years ago as a teenager and this was really powerful for me. People think that time makes it better but I still feel the loss, some days it's stronger than others. I really appreciate you all talking about it openly and how to heal. I think for me healing will be a life long journey...but I do feel better knowing that there is a way to do just that.

    thank you marie,
I was told as a child that whatever I did was bad and not good enough, I was also verbally abused, like when I broke my leg it was my fault and I felt shame and terrible for being such a bad person , or when i broke something or did anything wrong , even when i expessed myself as i child ,
so i learned to suppress my emotions not to cry or tell people that I am not feeling well , and even now when something happens in my life I find it really hard to feel my emotions to grieve to express them to not feel bad about them , to not feel shame and terrible and also I find it hard to feel others emotions,
thank you from all my heart ❤ for this work may god bless you

I am trying myself to learn what else I can do with emotions rather than bury them under food & drugs. These are some of the things I have had said to me mostly during childhood. Quit feeling sorry for yourself, get over it, man up, quit wearing
your feelings on your elbows, you need to have thicker skin, ect.. I
believe this is one of the reasons ppl. are so unhappy. We have not been
allowed to process our feelings and heal from them because it was not
acceptable and considered a weakness rather than natural way of dealing
with life. So we bury those feeling under booze, drugs, food, gambling
and look what we have now. Im sure I have said some of these things to
my own children but its wrong none the less to invalidate any ones
feelings. Bless you love you are worthy.

I also had a very similar upbringing and I’m still not sure how to grieve as I don’t have a support system and I have small children to care for, but I know if we keep surrounding ourselves with kind and compassionate mentors the answer will come. Keep looking. And I’d also like to add that as I’ve stopped using things to make myself feel better and run away from the pain, but taken steps to face it in a healthy way, a lot of opposition has come. Often times it gets worse before it gets better but that’s a good sign. Because if you face it you’ll be down with it for good. I think of it as having an old festering wound that needs to be cut open and cleaned out so it can truly heal. I hope you find the healing you need.

My biggest insight was that only by truly feeling and moving through pain does it really end and transform back into hope and light. The was I will put this into action is by being more open to examining my grief and pain instead of pushing it back into a dark corner of my mind and thus begin the process of letting the whole experience of life, good and bad, help me become who I am meant to be.Thank you both for this beautiful message. Thank you for this conversation, which was heart-opening for me. I think the discomfort from negative feelings does come so often from feeling that we 'shouldn't' feel them and the struggle to get over something quickly or 'flatlining' as Marianne says. In the growing popularity of positive thinking philosophies, this is a timely reminder to respect and allow all feelings in our tender sensitivity as pointers and tools for growth and love.

Quit my job, packed up and moved to Hawaii for an open ended adventure for almost 4 months. What I returned with emotionally put me in a dark night of the soul for another time in my life. I love this. Sadness, depression and a sense of loss are part of a normal life.
Watch any sporting event and you will see a winner and a loser. The losing team feels that sense of loss and they either embrace it and learn from it, or they wallow in it and recede into the background of relevancy. Most western cultures frown upon sadness and grief and these feelings are made wrong.
In light of the recent terrorist attacks in Orlando and in Paris, France, we, as a culture get to support those who lost loved ones in theses senseless attacks. We get to lift them up with a collective consciousness that embraces sadness and pain as part of their support. Now is a time to be there for your friends and family, to lift them up by letting them feel the pain that they are going through.
Marie's work is brilliant, I too wish that I could listen to a podcast as I do not always have access to video.
    Thank you.

    The prayer :
    Dear God,
I surrender to you the pain that is in my heart. I give it to you my failure, my shame, my loss, my devastation. I know that in you dear God all darkness is turned to light.
Pour forth your spirit upon my mind and help me to forgive my past. Make my life begin again. Restore my soul and bring me peace. Comfort me in this painful hour that I may see again my innocence and good.
I have fallen Dear God, and I feel I cannot rise. Please lift me up and give me strength, set my feet upon the path to peace and help me not to stray again.
I pray for forgiveness. I am crushed by my failure. Please show me who I am to you that self-hate shall not defeat me. Help me remember and reclaim my good. Help me become who you would have me be and live the life you would have me live that my tears shall be no more.

what an absolutely powerful talk. I need to watch this a couple of times, to let it sink in.
I have often been harsh with myself especially when I have been deeply sad. Like a part of me thought that was the ultimate undoing. When I needed to be gentle with myself the most I would instead alienate the person weeping in my head. Sadness is really OK. And every person has their own journey dealing with their pain.

True hope can only be found in Jesus Christ. He loves you more than you could ever know. I pray my best friend's story will help you.
      ******************************

    Marianne & Marie
I cannot quantify how much I was sledge-hammered by this conversation. At 21:58 I broke down. Completely.
A lifetime of being told that there IS something wrong with me (too sensitive, no resilience, clinically depressed, having 'Creative-Hopelessness') has beaten me down SO badly that I have been on anti-depressants for nearly two decades.
Although I know the physical/chemical/medical issues of CD only too well, I have always questioned why a seemingly intelligence and incredibly empathetic woman can't navigate Life . . . . without feeling depressed.
Now I know that to expect that I COULD navigate life without being depressed isn't the issue - it's acknowledging that I SHOULD be depressed/ in pain/hurting. It would be abnormal not to be.
I have worked SO HARD to educate and empower and arm myself, against my depression and have read and investigated and watched and immersed myself in so many forms of therapy, learning & knowledge about CD . . . . now I realise I need to accept it and build a Life that includes it.
Marie - thank you for all that you have given me over the years, but this particular MT episode has been so profound.
Marianne - thank you for being the voice and intelligence that my current society has been unable to give me. You have empowered a woman on the other side of the world!

So sorry for the sadness and pain your people have been suffering. I know that many people throughout the US and the rest of the world are hoping and praying for an end to the war there, and everywhere. I'll keep you and the Iraqi people in my prayers. Stay strong.

Firstly I would say thank U so much Marie for bringing such a deeply experienced woman to my life. I am in the mood of my life is leading to nowhere. My dream is overseaing in the US and there are moments i am kinda stressful. People all say to me nicely "you are gonna make it" but my mom. She all the times wants me to have a life without stress and negative things. And from this video I have my own a lesson that i will try to give my mom what I am having not just arriving the US coz life is short, I agree. Once again, i cannot say thank U enough

Thank you so much Marie Forleo and Marianne Williamson for discussing this topic. It's so needed to dive into this conversation and there are very powerful highlights in this. I teach about spiritual experiences in the Maritimes in Canada and I deeply appreciate the value of hearing what has worked for someone else. When we all share and build on eachother's wisdom the level of healing and grace in the process becomes softer. Keep shining both of you. Love Danielle d'Entremont the Maritime Medium.

True hope can only be found in Jesus Christ. He loves you more than you could ever know. I pray my best friend's story will help you.

Having recently lost my wife I wrote a short essay - but decided not to post it up here - my better judgement guided me in that decision. This is an extremely difficult topic to discuss in public.

I need to watch this again! Tears were shed when truths hit home - which was the majority of the video. The prayer in the end - which I wholeheartedly participated on the spot, brought the "rain" as it helped me find closure with letting go and just letting God. I really need to watch this again to take it all in even more and will be downloading your books on Kindle. Thank you ladies for a great talk. Love & Light to you both. ❤😊
