I'm in my late 60s now. My hair is turned gray, some days my knees seem like they've turned on me too. But when I start feeling sorry for my old self I remember that I saw Led Zeppelin live four times. The first time I saw them I was in the second row. They really were that good, it really was that life-changing. 50+ years later, I hear some live recording they did and I'm transported. I'm 15 and dancing in the aisle with my friends.
Robert can be heard mimicking the theremin that Jimmy is using. JPJ is awesome, he and Bonzo are keeping the song together. They throw a whole lot of stuff in there. Live is so improvised. Love that y’all have joined the rest of us Led Heads. 🤟🏻♥️
Actually you guys do need to watch them live, they are amazing to watch live. Each version of a song is different, yet they flow perfect, the improvisation is always amazing. Love watching your reaction videos.
NOPE... for this live, you need to see it! Period!!! The sound is Jimmy using a German sonic Theremin. It's too much fun! The vocal and instrumental "play" between Robert and Jimmy with the vocals and Theremin is TOOOOO much fun. You HAVE to see it with your eyes... it's special!!!🙃😜
Actually, most of Zeppelin's live songs sound very different from the studio version, because their studio stuff is produced so creatively, with multi-tracks and lush tones. So Jimmy had to come up with single-guitar arrangement for live. This song is one that is like the studio version on steroids... 🤙👍😎
They were soooooo good as to be unbelievable. So chaotic but tight. Soft, hard, fast, slow, loud, quiet, structured but loose and all while improvising the "eff" out of a song but never getting lost
La/Che Thank you so much for taking the Zeppelin journey on one of the greatest live albums of all time. I appreciate your honesty and expertise on music. Like I have said before you are the best in the business. Black Pumas, Black Pumas, 🤣
I said it before, I hope you guys have seen this on video by now? It is so good to watch them do this on stage!!! This version has even cut out certain parts!!! It is epic!!!!!
The WLL medley was phenomenal. They often threw in bits of other songs like "Boogie Chillun" or referenced other artists like Elvis in this. The whole band saw Elvis in concert and got to meet him. Jimmy and Robert were especially huge fans; Robert used to try to copy his mannerisms as a child, plus he'd employ some of Elvis' vocal techniques sometimes in his singing. Jimmy was a huge fan of Elvis' guitar player, Scotty Moore and would listen to Elvis records repeatedly to be able to pick apart the guitar pieces.
Such a great live performance (and one I'm very familiar with) as always from Zeppelin. You cracked me up with Page and Plant grappling with each other and Page giving the low blows and you're just not going to beat him to paraphrase. Truth. 😎
Not a huge Zeppelin fan having only 2 albums (LZ3 & Houses of the Holy) but I recognize that I needed them on my musical journey. 💜💜💜 Going thru your LZ playlist to see if I feel differently 50+ yrs on.
In person Tampa Stadium on the field 50 yd line my 21st birthday. One of those memories that stay in your mind crystal clear. You have to watch their MSG concert
If you ever manage to listen to the only soundboard recording of them from Hamburg 1973 you're gonna be blown away. Especially "Dazed and Confused" and "Whole Lotta Love"
This performance is my favorite live from them. I used to go in the early 80s to see the song remains the same. 2 years straight every Friday night. That was our jam😂 That's Robert mimicking the guitar. His vocals are fire. Watch this performance live from MSG in 1973. Great reaction as usual guys and Peace out 🙏 ✌️ ☮️
Great reaction guys! "The Song Remains The Same. In Concert And Beyond" The West coast premiere of the movie was on October, 21, 1976 in Los Angeles California on my 12th birthday. I first saw the movie at the UA Cinema theatre in Riverside CA. in the early 80's at a midnight showing. Rock on!
Great reaction, guys. Because you mentioned not usually liking live music without seeing it, there's also a live concert movie by the same name. Unfortunately, you have to sift through a lot of visuals not related to the concert that are kind of fantasy stuff that hasn't aged all that well, but it's mostly concert footage with a little bit of backstage stuff.
Zep considered this an average performance as they were exhausted, due to it being the last date of a long tour. I can only imagine what it was like when they weren't tired😮.
You should watch the whole movie even if u don't react to it. It's straight amazing. Used to go to the midnight movies on the weekends and watch them in the early 80,s. Seen this over thousandtimes by now. The best that ever did it!
Wow, I have a whole of catching up to do. The whole past week of reactions. But this is a great one to start with. Speaking of George Clinton . How about some Maggot Brain. I can definitely get to that😂. Excellent reaction, fellas !😊❤👏🙏
Do you guys intend to react to the other live albums How The West Was Won and BBC Sessions? I consider these two even better than The Song Remains the Same.
Live at MSG Since I’ve Been Loving You. The May 25,1975 live version of In My Time Of Dying, is killer. Live at Knebworth 1979 Achilles Last Stand, & Kashmir. You have to see those performances. Studio of Achilles Last Stand, Jimmy did 12 guitar overdubs, yet live its perfection, & so tight.
Great reaction as always, you two are the best. The video of this is no longer on yt unfortunately. You have to watch it from the full TSRTS movie, which you should most definitely do, it's unbelievably good! I remember yall saying at some point that you were going to react to the whole movie on your other channel. Are you still planning to do that, did it get blocked, or did I just miss it somehow?
This whole album is also a movie, and is worth seeing Page using the Theramin or using a violin bow and shredding it in Dazed & Confused. Here is a clip from Whole Lotta Love that shows the theramin. th-cam.com/video/KPhXm-UPfEU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0FVvN32mSKgeqjwu
Around 10 to 12 minutes in, or so, I clearly heard Page playing some Alvin Lee of Ten Years After guitar work. Find Alvin Lee playing “I’m Going Home,” on their 1973 “Recorded Live” album, and you will hear what Jimmy Page was playing. Just so you know, Page was in awe of Lee’s speed and precision on the guitar, so it’s not surprising that Page might include that sound in their final encore. Thanks for playing this.
hope u see this msg, I'm a bit behind. awesome that this album is getting attention,,HOWEVER, you need to find the original album version of this song! it's nearly a min longer!! when the remastered it for cd release they edited out some GREAT guitar solo work!
You have to see this live. That's Jimmy playing the Theremin. You really have to see the entire movie. Killer.
There is Led Zeppelin and then there is everybody else...No other group comes within a mile of them musically...
Beatles
The Who in thier live performances are an equal competor.
Especially from 1968-1976.
I'm in my late 60s now. My hair is turned gray, some days my knees seem like they've turned on me too. One of the greatest live performances ever! You should see this one!
You guys really need to watch the video of this, and Dazed and Confused from this show. 🤙😎
yes ofc
Robert can be heard mimicking the theremin that Jimmy is using. JPJ is awesome, he and Bonzo are keeping the song together. They throw a whole lot of stuff in there. Live is so improvised. Love that y’all have joined the rest of us Led Heads. 🤟🏻♥️

The finish is Bonzo playing with the mallets on fire and the gong on fire.
❤Zeppelin FOREVER!!!🥁☮☘
You guys are Zeppelin hip now. What a catalog, right? Whether Live or in studio, they were amazing, all.
That's the entire catalog right TJ? I'm thinking they should do it all over again now as veterans. 🙂
Honestly, I was a bit annoyed at how fast they blazed through the Led Zeppelin catalog. Should’ve paced it out more.
ROBERT WITH THE MIKE DROP IS THE BEST.
NOPE... for this live, you need to see it! Period!!! The sound is Jimmy using a German sonic Theremin. It's too much fun! The vocal and instrumental "play" between Robert and Jimmy with the vocals and Theremin is TOOOOO much fun. You HAVE to see it with your eyes... it's special!!!🙃😜

You can watch this concert, and see Page using a device called Theramin for the sound effect for "whole Lotta Love" on TH-cam.
It is like listening to music with my soul bros in the military..love and miss it. Much respect and success.
Kudos to JPJ and Bonzo for laying down that tight groove that Jimmy and Robert could riff off of.
They were soooooo good as to be unbelievable. So chaotic but tight. Soft, hard, fast, slow, loud, quiet, structured but loose and all while improvising the "eff" out of a song but never getting lost
I love the slide into Stray Cats rockabilly shuffle...!
Jimmy's soul and feel is just remarkable!!!!!
This just kicks ass all through. Great to hear it's still alive
. Brilliant sh*t.
La/Che Thank you so much for taking the Zeppelin journey on one of the greatest live albums of all time. I appreciate your honesty and expertise on music. Like I have said before you are the best in the business. Black Pumas, Black Pumas, 🤣
Luv..so love usins Led journey..ya'll my A1s..much respect and success gentlemen.
Look up Theramin, that's what Jimmy's using for that effect in the middle.
Great job on this thank you.
The gong is on fire and his mallet while he is pounding it!!!! Epic!!!!
That's Robert groaning and Jimmy distorting Robert's voice with the theremin. This is my favorite live Zep and a life changing must see live.
Awesome gotta watch live version it’s crazy
Saw them in the early 70'S in Detroit. For their encore they played a double album they were releasing. Played for over three hours.
I said it before, I hope you guys have seen this on video by now? It is so good to watch them do this on stage!!! This version has even cut out certain parts!!! It is epic!!!!!
Bonham snd Jones during the theremin solo are fire!
Agreed. Greatest rhythm section in rock history.
Guys , you gotta watch this one. Jimmy and his Theremin is awesome to watch. And Bozos flaming gong at the end.
That's a fire gong at the end
The WLL medley was phenomenal. They often threw in bits of other songs like "Boogie Chillun" or referenced other artists like Elvis in this. The whole band saw Elvis in concert and got to meet him. I got chills......DAMN 😮
❤❤❤Robert ❤❤❤
Ahhhhhhh great performance! Jimmy playing the Theramin! Wish you could have seen it!
You guys NEED to WATCH this version!
Wow great reaction you gotta watch Jimmy on the theramin totally splendid
That’s a theremin guys …..You need to watch some vids where you can see Jimmy playing it. Very cool
In that jam, they took you through all the decades of music from the 40s-late 60s.
Thanks!
Such a great live performance (and one I'm very familiar with) as always from Zeppelin. You cracked me up with Page and Plant grappling with each other and Page giving the low blows and you're just not going to beat him to paraphrase. Truth. 😎
This movie is so great when watching it. But just listening to the album I can see it in my head cause I still watch it at least twice a month
Lol.
JPJ killing this shit in the back!!!!!
Thank you!!!
My favorite song from Song Remains. Watch it…immediately
The therimin is used as well on No Quater, after he sings "the dogs of doom howl and mone", only one note.
robert literally does a mic drop at the end haha
WATCH THIS LIVE PLEASE!!!!!!
That's a John Lee Hooker riff at the end of the song, let that boy boogie woggie, it's in him and it got to come out...the HOOK, the BOOGIE MAN.
You guys really need to watch the video of this song. Jimmy's theremin solo is classic.
First time I saw them was Fillmore East N.Y 1969 70
Differently check out the movie song remains the same from Madison Square Garden. I was at all 3 nites
If you ever manage to listen to the only soundboard recording of them from Hamburg 1973 you're gonna be blown away. Especially "Dazed and Confused" and "Whole Lotta Love"
Mad that this is live. The sound effects for the 70s is amazing
Listen to John Paul Jones bass grooves!!! Insane!!! Jimmy makes all those sounds from his amp. He plays with all kinds of knobs when you watch it!!!!!
Jimmy in 73 is as good as you will ever see
So true. The drugs gradually destroyed his live performance abilities. There were exceptions but overall he had peaked in the early 70's.
It’s a Theramin making that space squeling
This performance is my favorite live from them. I used to go in the early 80s to see the song remains the same. 2 years straight every Friday night. Been waiting for this one!!! Great one from the live Zeppelin.
I dont get surprised by them anymore
You have to see it on the movie!!!! Jimmy plays with the amp. He waves his hand to the sounds he is creating!!!! It is awesome!!!!!
Thanks again, been awhile since I’ve listened to this whole song. You are the Best 🤘🔥
they had fun with this 1!
That was your first Zep reaction! What a journey amigos, you are true Led Heds now
Great reaction guys!
Rock on!
lot of improv on this live version...Jimmy with his Theremin!!
Saw them at M S G 1974 i was 16 doesn't get any better !!!!!
Theremin was invented in 1920ish, was the first purely electronic instrument.
Zep considered this an average performance as they were exhausted, due to it being the last date of a long tour. I can only imagine what it was like when they weren't tired😮.
Yeah, after playing 6 nights in a row
You've really got to watch the movie
going back to the well again. right on im here for it!
Espectacular !!!!!
Been waitin on my favorite bros..analysis..please soul bros!
You should watch the whole movie even if u don't react to it. It's straight amazing. Used to go to the midnight movies on the weekends and watch them in the early 80,s. Seen this over thousandtimes by now.
The best that ever did it!
Thanks, men!
my fav live song ever. was 7 first time hearing this

Wow, I have a whole of catching up to do. The whole past week of reactions. But this is a great one to start with. Speaking of George Clinton . How about some Maggot Brain. I can definitely get to that😂. Excellent reaction, fellas !😊❤👏🙏

the live vid is live at MSG from the movie. pretty awesome
Saw them do this tune, Tampa Stadium, 1972...
Live at MSG Since I’ve Been Loving You. The May 25,1975 live version of In My Time Of Dying, is killer. Live at Knebworth 1979 Achilles Last Stand, & Kashmir. You have to see those performances. Studio of Achilles Last Stand, Jimmy did 12 guitar overdubs, yet live its perfection, & so tight.

jpj going crazy on bass in that theramin jam.
Yup, Theremin ! 👍
Around 10 to 12 minutes in, or so, I clearly heard Page playing some Alvin Lee of Ten Years After guitar work. Love the walking bass line
Pretty cool gentlemen
✨️🎶✨️
They did come out and encore with "The Ocean" and "Thank you"
Wow, you guys have reacted to 99 Led Zeppelin videos!
That's nothing, I wore out all of Zeppelin's albums. Still got them and on cd.
Watch it on the movie and react to that!
You guys have to react to How The West Was Won, same concerts as song remains the same but more songs and remastered
Need to watch the movie
There is also a REALLY good live version of this from their "How the West Was Won" live album. 🤙😎
"In the end, there is no way to beat Jimmy Page" You said it right there.
hope u see this msg, I'm a bit behind. awesome that this album is getting attention,,HOWEVER, you need to find the original album version of this song! it's nearly a min longer!! when the remastered it for cd release they edited out some GREAT guitar solo work!
See the movie, this song Jimi does some crazy sounds by waving his hands near some crazy machine.
