    How did you get Gamma to show up as Gamma(1:1), Gamma(1:2), etc? I followed your instructions exactly, and it just all shows up as Gamma(1).

    Port refinement, process hf3d error: Port 1 is assigned to an internal face. Only allowed with lumped ports.. I get this error using wave port

    • @leapaustralia
      @leapaustralia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wave ports must be assigned on the outer boundary of the design. If you need to assign a wave port to a surface that is completely inside the solution domain, then create a cap object with PEC assignment, that completely covers the face that is being assigned as a wave port.
      This ensures that EM energy can only propagate in the normal direction away from the cap object.

    why we give 12 passes?
    What is the purpose of radiation box?

    • @leapaustralia
      @leapaustralia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ansys HFSS uses an automatic mesh refinement process to generate accurate EM solution for arbitrary 3D geometries. There are two control available to the user namely Max Delta S and the maximum number of passes. The default value for max number of passes is set to 6. With each successive pass, the mesh is refined, and the solution results are compared with the previous pass. This ensures that the final solution has converged and hence is mesh-independent. If the solution doesn’t converge with the defined number of passes, the user should increase the maximum number of passes to ensure a converged solution.
      One can plot Delta S vs. Pass Number to monitor the convergence while the analysis is running.

      Re: What is the purpose of radiation box?
      A radiation boundary condition (BC) is required for analyzing structures that radiated electromagnetic energy into free space, such as antennas. PEC (perfect electric conductor) is the default background material. Assigning radiation boundary conditions overrides this and ensures that the energy incident on this BC is absorbed and doesn’t get reflected into the solution space.

      @@leapaustralia How we can see the radiation outside the waveguide? Thanks

  • @edisonkho5874
    @edisonkho5874 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very good explanation, Sir I want to asked a question how can we plot TEmnp in HFSS (example like TE102 and TE201 mode)

    • @leapaustralia
      @leapaustralia  ปีที่แล้ว

      The subscripts represent the mode order along the x,y and z axis.
      This tutorial demonstrates a rectangular waveguide with its cross-section oriented in the XY plane. The waveguide has ports assigned to the faces parallel to the XY plane. Therefore, the wave is propagating in the Z direction and as a result, we can have TE(mn) or TM(mn) modes.
      TE(mnp) or TM(mnp) modes can be considered for a cavity that has no ports and these can be analyzed using the Eigen mode solver in Ansys HFSS

    I'm at the Waveport section and when I select a face and go on to assign a wave port I don't get the window that you are getting. I instead get a window that is called "Ference Conductors for Terminals" and I can't assign any integration lines.

    • @leapaustralia
      @leapaustralia  ปีที่แล้ว

      The default HFSS solution type is “Driven terminal”. We can change this by clicking on “HFSS” in the main menu and then “Solution Type”.
      In the window that pops up, select “Modal”, and click ok. This will change the solution type to “Driven Modal”.
      You will then be able to define integration lines for your wave ports.

    • @leapaustralia
      @leapaustralia  ปีที่แล้ว

      By the way, there has been an enhancement in this regard within the latest Ansys 2023R1 release. Users can now define both wave ports and terminal ports in the same design.

    I'm using ANSYS 2018.1 and I don't have the option available to use HFSS as a modeler. Am I missing something?

      Tools-options-general options, under general configuration change it to 'all'

    • @leapaustralia
      @leapaustralia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Please install Ansys electronics desktop (AEDT) and Ansys with identical versions on your machine. Once you have completed the installation click on the windows start button and click on the Ansys EM Suite version installed and select “Modify Integration with Ansys”.

    Hi, I exactly followed your tutorial but when I click on "Analyse All" button I get these messages and the analysis is stopped.
    [info] A discrete frequency sweep with 121 point(s) has been started using HFSS - Solving Distributed. (4:17:25 PM May 08, 2019)
    [error] The HFSS solver failed to start. Please contact technical support. (4:17:25 PM May 08, 2019)
    [error] Simulation completed with execution error on server: Local Machine. (4:17:25 PM May 08, 2019)
    Do you know how to solve it?

      Account Nuovo try to change the settings of the sweep!

    • @leapaustralia
      @leapaustralia  ปีที่แล้ว

      The error indicates that a distributed solution was initiated. This happens when the user selects more than one variation to solve simultaneously using the HPC settings. HPC settings enable users to distribute parametric variations or frequency points in parallel on a machine with multiple cores or a list of machines connected via a network.
      Ensure that you have installed and configured the components required to run the job, such as RSM and MPI libraries. For customers in Aus & NZ please contact us at support@leapaust.com.au for further information
