    We are based in North Wales and manage around 150 colonies of bees, plus nucleus colonies.
    We produce Great Taste Award winning honey and sell nucleus colonies to members of the public.
    Our 6 frame overwintered nucleus colonies sell out very fast every year so early ordering is advisable.

    We supply F1 Mated Buckfast and Jolanta Queens throughout the season. The UK Mated Jolanta Queens are reared using genetics used by the UK's biggest bee farmer - Murray McGregor - and are not available to general public, except through resellers like us! Check out our queens page on our website.

    Loving the hairnet! 👍👌🤣 Hoping to have a go at making some soft set honey after I’ve got some OSR honey. Was hoping Abelo were going to be at Beetradex so I could have a look at the creamers. Might have to take a trip up to see them.

    Can freshly extracted OSR honey be used to make creamed honey? Or it is done with OSR that is about to crystallise?

  • @TheDanspence
    @TheDanspence 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would this process work with ivy honey too? As it will not stay runny
    Or do you prep your ivy in a different way?

  • @fabianweber619
    @fabianweber619 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm still a little confused. The intermittent 15 minute mixing sheers the crystals into smaller smooth pieces. What purpose does leaving the batch in the machine for months serve? Can it be bottled straight away after... the first couple weeks and left to "set" in the jars?

    • @BlackMountainHoney
      @BlackMountainHoney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Can be bottled as soon as its smooth on the tongue.

  • @matthewshaw3470
    @matthewshaw3470 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m trying this method at the moment it has large crystals in it. Will they get smaller and the honey more smother as the machine continues to churn

  • @matthewshaw3470

    A very interesting way of making creamed honey, I’ve got a couple of buckets of OSR honey I’m going to try it with. Does the left over honey in your creamer act as a seed?

    • @BlackMountainHoney
      @BlackMountainHoney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't need a seed with OSR. It just grinds it down in the creamer

    • @beezee8698
      @beezee8698 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlackMountainHoney if you were using this with another type of honey that is slower to crystallize, wouldn't it be beneficial to use a starter?

    • @BlackMountainHoney
      @BlackMountainHoney  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@beezee8698 yes. 10% starter and reset the 90% by heating above the temperature to allow the crystal structure to form around the starter. 50c will do it.

    Lovely machine but for me couldn't justify 2k price tag my runny out sells set about 5 to 1 do you charge a premium for soft set?

    • @BlackMountainHoney
      @BlackMountainHoney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No premium and ratio is similar for us. But it once in the jar is stays in perfect saleable condition so can jar 1200 at a time and its good for years. Saves a lot of effort 👌 But yeah, expensive!

  • @JP-nx9rm
    @JP-nx9rm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So quick recap , heat it up , pour in the creamer and leave it to turn for a week to break the Crystal's down?

    • @BlackMountainHoney
      @BlackMountainHoney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. But has to be OSR to get it silky smooth every time without using a seed

    Might come across as a rant but It isn’t ! Doesn’t heating honey above 30/40 kill all good enzymes in it ? Thanks

      The bees maintain the honey at 37c in the beehive

    What happens if I don't put starter honey? I will only put liquid honey into the machine, it will mix for 15 minutes, and then rest for 60 minutes.
