    You guys should facilitate setting up a rental system on all of your meters with local shops. As a guy who is not a professional but trying to build a system in my vehicle I would love the option to pay $10 and a deposit to get to rent equipment like this. You could sell a ton of them like that and maybe even set up a source of recurring revenue with a special service contract on the meters that is basically a beefed up, subscription based warranty.

      @@akuma4u There are a lot of factors that go into that, like inventory space, capital that is tied up in said inventory, and hours of manufacturing labor would all have to be considered. Selling two of something doesn't automatically mean 2x profit. There would be some upside for us to make one tool, even selling less. There are separate tools because we first designed the DD-1. Then started selling those. Then later we designed the CC-1 and started selling those. DD-1+ was many years later. That's how we got to where we are. I mean why buy a set of wrenches? Just buy a good adjustable wrench and call it good.

    • @akuma4u
      @akuma4u 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nismotony so... Make a good adjustable wrench now combining the dd1+ and cc1 and let us and our wallets call it a day. Im sure you have the resources to produce this now. And it would make sense as well.

    After setting my my amps up and trying to go back to check the gain over lap - I do not get a distortion light on
    What would cause this?
    Alpine ILX-507 max clean volume to the amplifiers is 29 of 35 before the distortion light turns on
    Set up the sub amp at that volume and turn the gain up until the distortion light comes on and hit read, switch tracks and get over 10.x+ tried to set the amp to 7.5 and 10
    Power off the unit and turn back on, play the test tone and distortion light doesn’t come on
    I know it appears to work on the full range amplifier when I set my front stage to 2.5 on the 1kHz track
    And I set my rear stage to no gain over lap and no distortion light when rechecking
    Any advice?

    hi, i got question.
    what if my powered subs set on low pass permanently from the factory, i can't set to allpass.
    how do i set gain to that? and, should i turn the bass knob all way down, or all way up?
    thank you for the answer. just got my pair dd1 and cc1.

      I just got mines today ... Db overlap is the same thing as -3 -5 or even -10db .. It just says "+" on the tool. It all depends on what music u listen to, for my instance i listen to slowed, bassboosted, modified music. I will use -5db overlap (on the dd1+ its +5)... I will be posting videos soon to help people out

    Excellent video, My question is. If you have a amp that is more powerful than your woofers, I’m guessing you can not take it all the way to distortion and do the over lap right? Or this process can only be done to a amps and subwoofer that are completely matched in watts? Or is there a different process that would be done in this case? Thank you.

    • @brian_zx6r
      @brian_zx6r 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You never want to take subs in distortion, you can have some underrated subs(sundown is one I know for sure)on higher amps but the signal has to be clean never dirty. Overlap setting is just away you can tell if a customer has tempted with the amp settings.

    • @brian_zx6r
      @brian_zx6r 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So like on the video he set the gain till it was red(distortion) & hit read for the overlap then backing in down the gain down out of distortion & marking the overlap db setting in their records so if the customer comes back the company will know if the customer adjust the amp settings. Hope that clears it up for you.

    • @Babybeast4357
      @Babybeast4357 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct. If you have an amp that is RMS rated higher than your subs at the correct voltage and ohm rating your running to the subs, you shouldn't go much over the volume at which exceeds the capability of the subs at which they are rated for. As for the over lap I wouldn't take it all the way to 10, pending your equipment I would in this situation, stay around half. Just a suggestion.

    hello. what does 8db of overlap mean sir. thnks

    • @johnhornbeak5735
      @johnhornbeak5735 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You use overlap because music is often not recorded at 0db (unless your playing test tones). A lot of the edited music bassheads listen to is -5db, so you would use the -5db track on a dd-1 OR add +5db of overlap on the dd-1+ (they are the same setting. So you are matching your overlap to the music, otherwise if you play it at 0db it is quieter

    Do u have to have flat that adjustments on that stereo in order to set that volume on that stereo

    • @fullpeladas
      @fullpeladas 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know it's 4 years later & nobody gave you the answer. You have to set your eq or sound settings to your like. Also loud settings to how you like it low,med ,hi .from there you set your head unit overlap to 0 . Then 3 to mids , 0 to tweeter, then 5 to bass amp. The reason you set your eq sound first is because depending on eq sound settings your headunit is gonna have a different volume settings. Example set you eq to rock clean volume on head unit is 32 out of total volume 45. Set your eq at acoustic clean volume is 36 out of 45. Your sound settings would change you clean volume. Also loud . Button would effect total clean volume. When I have a loud button I set it at low or medium all depending on your eq sound settings. Hope this answers the question. Been into car stereo over 20 years in the making

    On a 3 way active system if I have to check the clipping for the tweeter amplifier ,will I be able to use higher frequencies (around 5kHz) from my own test discs ? Can it show the clipping and distortion at any sine wave frequency played, or is it limited to detect only at 1kHz and 40Hz? Thanks

    • @nismotony
      @nismotony 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      if the crossover on your tweeter amplifier allows you to use 1kHz tone just use that and set 0dB overlap for them and then put crossover back where you want it after gain adjustment.

    Just a curious question, seeing many Cars nowadays with aftermarket units no longer have the actual "cd player", will D'Amore look at making your 'reference CD' into a USB or Downloadable version?? Cheers

    So set the system to clipping at 0db to set overlap and then ramp it up to distort even more. Got it. My whole system sounds awful now and the D4S JP23 amp detects distortion way before this thing does. My system is literally clipping all the time after setting my bass amp to a supposed safe 8 db overlap. Now every song shows clipping on my bass amp starting at volume 25 out of 40 on a headunit that is clean to max volume of 40 and flat EQ.

    • @nismotony
      @nismotony 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure these things are done first:
      1. Use 0dB track
      2. Crossover all the way up
      3. Amp gain all the way down
      4. Remote subwoofer level control all the way up
      5. Headunit tone controls where you usually have them
      Yes with 8dB of overlap you will be clipping the amp quite often. If the subwoofers can handle all the extra power without getting too hot and you like how it sounds there then there is no problem. If you never want the amplifier to clip no matter what, then don't add any gain overlap. For most people they won't like this for subwoofers. For mids and highs ok, but you can get the most out of your system with at least 3-5dB of overlap in the subs. I usually recommend 5dB as a starting place.
      Things that can affect it:
      Tone controls after it is set-up. If you set it up for 5dB and then adjust the bass control to +10dB, well then now you potentially have 15dB of gain overlap.
      Bass boost after it is set-up
      Not having remote bass maxed out during setup and then turning it up after

    You should only ever setup for gain overlap if the max RMS output of your amp doesn't exceed the max RMS rating of your subs, right? Otherwise, wouldn't it be best to figure out the max volts you can run to the sub and just set it for that?

    • @nismotony
      @nismotony 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The max volts thing isn't great because it assumes that the amplifier can make a predetermined power. It also doesn't set the headunit for maximum output (maximum signal to noise ratio). Another thing is the DD-1 and DD-1+ are distortion detectors, not clipping indicators. There are several things besides clipping that can cause distortion that would not be detectable without using a distortion detector. Even an oscilloscope can not read distortion that isn't caused by clipping until its about 5%
