Here we see ungentlemanly behaviour by the young Chinese snooker player Si Jiahui in a recent Scottish Open qualifier. He put the referee under unnecessary pressure to re-spot the pink quicky by getting down on his next shot too early. To all referees that this happens to, my advice would be as follows: Take your time respotting the colour and as you finish just leave your finger on it for an extra couple of seconds. Hopefully he takes his next shot and you can call foul and teach him a lesson. In this example, there was no need for the player to behave in such a fashion. Colin Humphreys (the referee) had been doing his job perfectly well all match. This young boy was just being rude. To Si Jiahui I would say: Snooker is a gentleman's game played by gentlemen. Please try harder young sir.
The referee must try to match the speed of the player, not the other way around. What if a player is a naturally fast player? he has to slow his game to accommodate the referee? i don't think so. :/
@@PatrickRyan147 Did Tony Drago, Jimmy White, Ronnie O'sullivan, Alex Higgins need to learn manners too because they played fast?. I agree though, players must wait until the referee has ambled round the table, picket the colour out of the pocket, placed it correctly back on it's spot and walked back to a safe position. Anything else is just abuse....PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT. :)
The player can only continue once the ref has respotted the object ball and declared the score. The ref has all the time in the world to do this as he sees fit. He's under no pressure at all. When I clicked on the link I thought the player was going to miss the shot and break his cue over the table..
🎄 James, what can I say.. I love snooker and I'm just doing my bit to improve the game: That is providing badly needed push stroke educational videos for trainee referees and naming and shaming bad behaviour. That's what I hope people focus on. Btw, you're a disgrace to the human race.. apparently 🤨
@@williamcallaghan2023 William, when God was handing out brains, you must have stood in the wrong queue.. the queue for the jacks.. that's why you've got shit for brains 😃
interesting - i've never thought of this as rude because Ronnie obviously does this constantly.. but i thought it's just so to keep his rhythm. on the other hand, the Ref here was moving as fast as he could (unlike admittedly some of them!) so maybe that's t he difference.
😮 I blame Ronnie.. He started this culture of being rude to the referees and young impressionable players like Si copy him, thinking it's cool. Barry Hearn needs to start fining 🫤

Why would it be a foul in that scenario?
Get him off the tour like Stephen Lee and Mark King
