Watching Dave put the drive line back in reminds me of the time(s) I've been on my back in the driveway,, had the cups packed with grease to hold the needle bearings in but hit the cup, it falls off, needle bearings scattered and can't find ONE. What a PITA that was.

Great 'sleeper' wastegate exhaust idea, hidden in plain sight! The QA1 drive shaft isn't overkill at all. If a guy can afford one it's the ONLY way to go. U-joints fail in daily drivers too. A drive shaft loop will have to suffice for the majority of us BUT the QA1 is - WOW!
I love the fact that Dave calls this his daily driver. 1100 hp, carbon fiber driveshaft, powder coated frame, fuel pumps big enough to run five V8 pick up trucks and the list could go on for a half hour. Dave, your idea of a daily driver it’s not the same as other peoples idea of a daily driver. This thing is an absolute beast in its own right… this will decimate 95% of the vehicles on the road today with ease. Beautiful truck but Goliath is still sexier. 🇺🇸💪🏼

Just want to mention i've recently bought Kevin's street project off him, very clean NC 94 Sonoma ext cab with 640 NA HP. SBC with 400 nitrous system on the side. Will be putting it on the streets next spring. Love your truck....
When street outlaws come out, you were one of the two I pulled for. You seem to be a down to earth no bs type of guy. I like the s10, and I’m not the Chevy guy. I guess I need to learn a bit about turbos, throw them on a small block ford and try to keep up..lol...

Surprised more of you do not have another car- yeah I know sounds easy but where does all that "extra" cash come from for something else when your regular car is sucking it up quicker than a 442 is gas on a cross country drive. Plus rebuilds, motors, motor swaps track time blah blah blah..... Hope you get to have some fun with the truck in the interim, thanks for sharing Dave

DD, I'm thinking if they want daily driver creds beyond a license plate, point to that AC compressor! The GM r-60s and earlier, from my day didn't much like high rev starts and such- I wound up tying an older rev limit tach to a relay to cut the comp out at anything over 3500 rpm and quit blowing them up- do the Sanden style need that? BTW, good hunting, Daddy! ON taking out the air to water intercooler; can you replace it with a honking big air to air cooler? That truck bed looks big enough to use one from a construction crane! FR

Love the Plain-Jane style exhaust piping. Bringing the snails forward to behind the rear wall, using an inline barrel-styles W/A IC undernead on way back to engine or put the IC just before the throttle.

Wrap your exhuast, itll help with the turbo lag tremendously. Get a couple cans of silicone spray and hose it down real good and thatll keep it from fraying. I had a STS kit on a 4th gen WS6 years ago, so Im speaking from experience. I also currently have a mid mounted under the bed 78/75 turbo on my own 5.3 swapped extended cab Xtreme. The long charge pipe isnt to blame for the lag, its the loss of heat in the exhuast, which reduces the amount of energy available in the exhuast gas to spool the turbos. .
@@waynetessier3058 I'll have to look into that, I tried ceramics in the past on traditional front mount kits, Wasn't all that impressed but it wasnt that brand, If it works like you say it'd be great because it is a bunch cleaner looking.

We see a few have mentioned a race between Dave's daily S10 and Billy. As much as we love our SRC family Billy's truck isn't on the same planet with this truck. Can Billy hang with Dave's truck, my guess is not even close. Billy can drive his truck on the street like a banchee,, but so can Dave.
It's nice that they make drop in 9inch rears now. Back in the day it wasn't easy swapping rears. I messed up 2 housings before I figured out how to narrow them 😆 Thankfully they were 8.8s and not 9"s . But I also did some 9's later on for guys once I got the lathe setup.
I dont disagree that the long boost pipes add some lag. but im willing to bet its that HUGE ass W2A intercooler in the bed that the turbos are struggling to fill. If you start with a small diameter and get larger (like a bell mouth) it can build pressure right at the beginning. If you flip the bell mouth around backwards its going to take longer to fill that large chamber. when you start considering Intake Velocity ill bet that fat intercooler kills all of the airs velocity. i know im not telling you anything you dont already know, youre the legend afterall. (favorite drag racer of mine thats for sure)

For keeping the heat where I want it I use Swain Tech White Lightning ceramic coating.
