Thank you for taking the time to do this video! people like you are awesome. I just bought a 1998 zx6r and doing a lot of research . Thank you once again.
Nice video man! Question, I need to change the valve cover gasket on mine, do you know if I can get to it from the top by removing the tank and what below it, or will I need to drop the engine from the bike?
Yes for a rebuild you remove all fluids, afterwards you use new brake fluid to flush the system and remove any air. If you disconnect the callipers you always have to bleed the system again.
08:43 - How important is it to get the right torque on the Caliper bolts? Just hand tight? They seemed to be done up pretty tight when you released them at the beginning.
The original torque spec was probably good but the bolts had sealed up completely. I used the drill to get them in fast, after that just proper hand tight. All bolts had a new coating of blue locktite, and until now there were no issues with the calipers anymore
@@BikerrepOliver Thanks! This video is really helpful. I need to recondition my own, as the dust seals have perished and have caused the brakes to stick, so watching this very carefully! :)
Hey man I'm not sure if you've still got this bike, but could you do any follow up videos on it? I've owned the exact same one for 6 months now as a project bike and had turned it around to be a mint bike. I just want to know what were your experiences were with it. thanks
What’s up brother how are you? Hey, I wanted to ask you a question, I still have a zx6r from 2002, but it’s been 2 times since I’ve changed the clutch bolt and the bar that pulls that bolt, and the bolt seizes and the bar that pulls that bolt cuts or breaks pero, you do not know what could be the problem? greetings
Could be a wide range of problems, Have you followed the original service manual? Did you torque correctly and have you replaced any other parts that might need adjustment after?

Where did you get the calliper rebuild kit from ?

It’s possible to do this with the engine mounted, best you look up the original service manual of your bike for the right handling.
@@BikerrepOliver awesome, thank you!! I'll do some more research too!
When you removed the calipers, did you let the brake fluid drain completely out, and have to replace and bleed an empty system?

Unfortunately the oil pump gave up a couple months after due to overheating.
@@BikerrepOliver That's really unfortunate, did you lose all motivation to get it fixed or was it far too much labour than what it was worth?
@@AndyBop The bike was no longer of value for this fix, too many unknown of what damage was done in the engine.

How many friction Plates are?
Tenho uma dessa verde. Está molhando uma vela com óleo.
Do you know the torque spec for the clutch springs and the cover?
Thanks!
Clutch cover bolts, 12 NM
Clutch spring bolts 8.8 NM
@@BikerrepOliver Thank you! I torqued my spring bolts to 12 nm, and they suddenly wasnt tightening anymore 😂 I learned now
What kind of oil you using?
I use 20W-50 Racing Oil on mine if that helps
that's good and all but.. we need to get you some calories!!!
Doing the same thing to my 99
