    At 10:06 you mention recording your rides. As soon as I got into Mountain Biking I knew I wanted to look back at how terrible I was, granted still not good, and just laugh at the things that scared me or the things that were actually gnarly and I didn’t think about that I now take time to asses! Maybe not everyone needs to post to TH-cam to be scrutinized by the world as you and I have, but even just for journaling it’s so dope!
    Btw, Ari Timp Peak review helped me follow the channel and I ended up grabbing one too!
    Good luck on your continued content creation, and maybe we’ll run into each other Vlogging in the PNW!

      Watching back the rides is such a fun experience, thanks for the encouraging words! How do you like the TP?

    • @GLeSnail
      @GLeSnail 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@MTB_Corbin the TP is fun a few things here and there but overall it’s legit, I posted a review a little bit ago.
      Dude best part is going back and seeing everything you miss because you’re focused. I record my hikes too and in Yosemite I caught a bear JUMP off the trail as soon as I rounded a blind corner, I never saw it but the camera did, it would’ve been an interesting encounter!

    • @MTB_Corbin
      @MTB_Corbin  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah the TP isn't perfect... but it gets the elevation in! And 100% agree about filming! I find I can focus on the trail more and not regret looking at the views because I'll spend so much more time looking at them while editing.

      I purchased one of the first helmet cams in the late 90's, been taping ever since. Mostly just all tucked away waiting for someday. Lotsa cool stuff to watch...someday.

Your videos there were very helpful, and then I stuck around because your videos are great and you seem like a really genuine person. I especially like your vlog style day trips with the dudes and also your vids of riding with your gf. My 7-year old thought that bit about “the rock” feature your gf missed was hilarious and so we’ve watched that a million times. Anyway, keep up the good work and good luck to you in your endeavors! Also, I really appreciate your complete guides of trail locations that you've done recently of Capitol Forest and Tahaleh and such. Very helpful for people like me who want to make the most of my ride with the few opportunities I have to go. It's very disappointing to try a new place and not know where to go or which trails are worth it. I mostly ride Tiger and Raging River since they're closer and im familiar with them. Now I can't wait to go try some new places.

I have started streaming but also would like to start making MTB content and see what will come of it. I actually left my last job with every intention of taking some time off and kick starting my content but my current company swooped in and gave me an offer during my 2 weeks notice.

This year has been interesting for my channel. Here is what I achieved: last week I was accepted into the TH-cam Partner Program (made $5 so far haha), I've sold over $1,200 of merch in 7 countries since December, and last month, on my trip to Whistler, I was recognized in the bike park (which is really interesting because I don’t show my face in my videos).

    You pretty much have to be in a very low expense living situation (van lifers), living off investment income (BKXC and Seth probably), or running your own business on top of the channel (BKXC, Dale Stone) to pull off being a full time youtuber these days. I remember seeing in another video, Alex the Singletrack Sampler, one of the biggest MTB youtubers out there only made $7000 in total income last year.

    • @MTB_Corbin
      @MTB_Corbin  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Good luck to you. I hope you have a good plan, as advertising on mountain bike videos is pitiful. I got revenue for a few years but I never contemplated going full time. Dreamed a bit about it 10 years ago but never took it seriously. Make sure you have other good income streams. This is why people like Seth from Beam Creek now has rental properties and Brian from BKXC has Everstoke. They realized that TH-cam is too variable and unreliable.

    • @MTB_Corbin
      @MTB_Corbin  4 หลายเดือนก่อน
