It comes with exposure to the hobby. My personal favorite things to find are the trilobites found in NW GA: Aphelaspis brachyphasis and Barrandagnostus inexpectans.
Huge respects to Pete. It's incredible how he can identify the bone and the species just by looking a small fragment that looks more like a rock than anything else.
@@koninkrijk1530 no you are wrong, its A proper titlement. A person can have several "titlements", from many different categories even, but in this case im not even arguing that the two titles aren't mutually exclusive since by definition a paleontologist is also a scientist.
All three of those finds were really cool. I like that Coyote's had a story behind it, both his and the animal's (with his trip to get it and with the tooth mark from a Hyeanodon), and Mario's was also really cool and really big. In the end, I have to say I personally think that Mark's was the coolest. It was the only confirmed fossil of the day that came from a predator and even cooler, it was from an actual Saber Tooth. Congrats on the amazing find, Mark!
I've been to the Badlands before when I was much younger. It was a fun visit! Wish I still had the pics my mom took to show you. Would be cool to visit the area again.
This man's IMMEDIATE knowledge of every single last tiny piece of bone you brought him was ASTOUNDING to see. Truly an encyclopedia of archaeological data.

It might seem lame to some but this is seriously one of my dreams in life; to go on an actual dig, somewhere as significant as the badlands and find something. It could be anything, I don’t care if it’s little or not as exciting as a t-Rex skull (that would be pretty amazing though!). I’ve wanted to do this since I was a kid and not really had the opportunity since my spine screwed up. But one day! I have to ask, how would someone go about getting on an expedition?
Research local colleges, see if they have paleontology programs or paleontologists who work there. Get in touch with them if so. Also look for local Paleontology groups, join if there are any. They often have field trips and will be able to get you in touch with paleontologists. If you are patient, you can realize this dream. Good luck!
Fossil hunting is my favorite. I have quite a collection myself but I would love to explore the Badlands. Please post more videos of fossil hunting coyote!
