This building will be our new studio and workshop! We’ll also be partnering with The 8-Bit Guy on a retro computer and arcade museum. Eventually we hope to host meetups too!
Ah that's awesome, I know you and David both had been talking about sharing a building for a long time now. Congrats, looks like it'll be an excellent space!
Mike: check. David: check. Huge shop to fill with big guy toys: check. Server room to wire up: check. Retro museum to build and populate: check. Am I dreaming? NO! More, more, give us more! Guys, you rock!
I actually really like the reception desk and the wood panelling behind it in the entry area, actually really nice looking. Should see if you can save it by moving the desk backwards or something . Can't be called geekPUB without turning the desk into a bar with sine optics on the wall behind it... Perfect for meet up and events 👌
Some nice comfy seating with tables and a really cook "GeekPub" neon sign, but if not a legit neon, they now do really nice looking LED 'Neons' in any shape/size/colour. Would be such a cool welcome and hangout spot. And avoid eating and drinking around all your expensive 'museum' equipment. Put a nice black tint on the windows with some really nice LED's under the desk/bar ledge with some nice vintage lamps scattered on the tables with the fancy looking decorative Edison bulbs for some warm, welcoming atmosphere. Could be such a killer spot for meet ups, couple of old arcade or pinball machines in the area too Just my 2¢ ✌️
"Wow This place is great. When can we move in? You gotta try this pole. I'm gonna get my stuff. Hey. We should stay here. Tonight. Sleep here. You know, to try it out." This place really is great. So jealous!
@@TheGeekPub well that makes my day. I posted that comment before I saw your Egon joke... so when I got to that point, your outtake from Ghostbusters was pure gold! Seriously, though, I really love both of your channels. I am in the process of building a new studio as well, for the #BuildBetterBrains project. Hope I can see your facility in person sometime!
I've done the hanging patch panel a couple of times at work when leaving offices. Not gonna rip out the patch panel or anything since they're cheap and that'd be a bit of a jerk move for the next tenant, but but definitely taking the rack itself. Congrats on the new building!
Congrats on the success of your channel and your new building. I can only hope this is possible for my channel, maybe in 4 or 5 years. Cheers from Canada!
good luck with this new project after all the water problems at your home. install sufficient physical security measures to protect and preserve the museum items. I would love to make a visit if i'm in the area.
Awesome! I really like the new space and hope it benefits you and David greatly! Can't wait to see all the new and exciting things that you guys are able to do with this space!
Awesome! Every room in this building feels huge! And the reception desk looks like a perfect spot for those parts of the videos where you talk about general things without doing hands-on stuff!
Also I believe that the building comes with a paradox alarm system, as I believe I saw a TM50 code pad on the wall (my day job I’m a security installer)
Wow. Huge news for you guys! Huge projects and Huge potential. The comments about power ... better size it to have a Tesla charger. 😁 Brick building also, which is nice and secure. Standalone, so no shared walls either.
Wow! Mike the new building looks Awesome! Excited to see what projects you start working on! Yep, more lighting. You can never have to much lighting in a workshop. I enjoyed to Copier Destruction at the end!
This looks like it's going to be awesome... And if you set up a computer museum and have fan meet-ups, I might actually have to make the trek from Atlanta
Windows - Nope. Windows are terrible for studios. Recycle - Nope. We called several electronics recycling companies. We were told it would cost over $500 to come pick it up.
This is so rad! I am so jealous of this space. I have been slowly upgrading my two car garage but the thing i could do with this space!!!! OMG! To bad I live in one of the most overpriced real estate markets in the US. Maybe some day.
Woop woop. Congratulations. We moved into a ~750sq ft space last year and it feels tiny already. Since online shopping finally became "the" thing warehouse space is now at an all time high. That and business rates in the UK are suffocating. Can't wait to see you guys develop this. Keep us up to date! Loved the printer "side quest" :P
That's great man! Congrats!! I am looking forward to seeing the progress!!! How did I not know you guys were so close to each other?! ( Am almost embarrassed I didn't know this!) Two of my fav content creators joining forces?!?! That is super awesome and I hope to visit some day! This is super inspiring and comes at a great time as I have been pondering expanding my Geeksmithing presence beyond my basement :)
If you wanted to knock that one wall out in the reception area to make the meetup space larger, you should keep the reception counter there and just put a few beer taps on it haha. That way people get the "Pub" experience as soon as they step through the door
Ah this building is going to be awesome. Great to see you both doing shared projects. Would be amazing to have a place for my YT channel. One day! Top marks guys.
Consider build some hobby projects (PCB, Tee's, Toys or refurbish of retro-machine and sold to people which want to acquire) and get some cash to maintain the expenditure.
Congratulations on acquiring a Maker Space! Super excited for the content you will be putting out. I have to say I miss the old theme music from the old arcade videos though. All the best and good luck!

So what kind of day job do you have that allows you to afford such a sweet place like this?
I will need to come to texas!
Congrats! Look forward to seeing more - maybe in person if/when the museum opens.
Congratulations!

Congratulations on the new place boys. It's awesome, I'm very happy for you guys.
Awesome space, congrats! Yes, if LGR joined up the reception area would need to retain the wood-grain look 😎
“Store some basic stuff” so peeks and pokes?
Congrats! The nice thing about the drop ceiling is that it will be "easy" to expand the network cable.
Definitely! I've been running cables all week. I put some J-Hooks in a few places too.
