I have only one model 12 which is a 1926 in 16 gauge. Most interestingly, it is one of the last 2 and 5/8” chamber models with a 28” mod. barrel. Patterns slightly high which is perfect for rising birds. Being built on the 20 gauge frame it handles smooth as silk. Enjoy your series and thank you for sharing your experiences. The only downside is I have load my ammo but once you have 2.5” cases that is not an issue.
I absolutely love my Winchester Model 12. The 16 GA is my most favorite, being built on the Model 12, 20 GA receiver is is slim and trim. 16 GA will do anything that can ever be expected of a shot gun, it's my favorite gauge
Back in the day and up to about the 1950's the 16 gauge was used a lot and sold quite well. I have found that during the introduction period of the model 12 that seems to have been the most common size. Thank you for being a part of my channel.
I love the model 12 and have more of them than I have of anything else. I just purchased another unfired one today that was so unusual that I didn't even know what it was until I came home and spent several hours doing my research. Up coming review for sure.
I currently must have 30 shotguns and I've had a lot more. But I don't have the model 12. When I was about 20 my uncle had a single shot 20ga Montgomery Ward shotgun. I can't remember without looking it up again who actually made it and what model it was. But it was a kinda unique at least for me. It felt really good in my hands and It naturally shouldered. Everytime I went over to my uncle's house I tried getting it off of him. He refused to sell or trade it unless it was for a model 12. I thought to myself if I had a model 12 I sure wouldn't trade it for a single shot. Even if I got money to boot. All these years the model 12 and the Montgomery Ward single shot have been elusive to me lol.
I’ve had one for years just recently looked up the serial number to try to figure out when it was made, it’s a 444 serial number so I know it’s an early one. But can’t find an exact date or anyone locally that will appraise it.
You state that the serial number is 444, is that the complete serial number? If that is the complete number you gun dates from 1912 and should be a 20 gauge. I would love to add it to my collection.
I have one of these Model 1912s made in June, 1918. 106 years old and it still works well.
I have yet to find one that does not work well and I have them starting from 1913. I am glad you found my channel!

I think he’s just saying you’re a very engaging storyteller. Thanks for the video

I just found a non take down 1897, but it's a bit rough. I have heard of them, but never seen one.

It's one of the best shotguns in my opinion that has ever been made, but if you can by one from the 1950's.
You will see lots of them here. I have one of the earliest ones from I think 1913.
My model 12, 16 gauge is made in 1954. Couldn't agree with you more on that.
