JK's label announced at the original release of "Standing Close to You" that the song is a subtle homage to Michael Jackson. JK holds Usher in high regard and also obviously MJ. Years ago Usher danced with Michael Jackson and now JK is dancing with 45 year old Usher. An R&B legend. This is a dream come true for JK. The last thing he did before entering the military.
I can’t believe you TWICE said that Jung Kook upped the dancing in this song for Usher. ALL of this choreo was originally created for Jung Kook’s version of the song. Usher learned JK’s choreo. The only exception being for his part, which I enjoyed but had nowhere even close to the same complexity of the choreo he did with JK - not even the relatively simple cross-over steps you were so enamored of. The other dancers here, who have been doing the American performances of this song as well as in the MVs, are all famous dancers and choreographers themselves, and yet you can’t tell any difference at all between JK’s performance and theirs. I have literally seen multiple dancers comment on that. Sure, Usher is great, but it’s ridiculous to say he had any bearing whatsoever on the quality or level of dance and choreo for this song. I’m sorry, but you showed your ignorance here…and by “ignorance” I simply mean “lack of knowledge about the subject.”
I don't know if they even reacted to the official MV, dance practice, live performances for this or see JK performing for his whole career. Either way, even non dancer could easily tell the difference in their execution. Just like many ppl have said, JK is doing his thing Usher just added his own style.

Jungkook is the youngest member of BTS and he is the main vocalist and an incredible dancer/performer. Jungkook's other songs have remixes or english features as well with Latto (Seven), Jack Harlow (3D), Justin Timberlake (3D), Central Cee and Kid Laroi (Too Much). As for who contacted who, we have no information on that. I have a feeling during Jungkook's documentary they will share that information when it comes out. The sad part is right when JK’s solo side of his career was taking off he had to go into military service. Well, he didn’t technically HAVE to do it right now because of his age, but he is committed to his brothers, BTS and Army, which I 💯 respect. I support his decision and am looking forward to all of them being together in 2025. But the timing still kind of stinks for him. 😊

So I am pretty sure Usher got contact by the management and go from there. But hey....the popularity will not be happened without the management, right? Over the years BTS became so big that Big Hit rose from near bankruptcy to becoming bigger than the "Big 3" music corporations which previously had near total control of the Korean music industry. Big Hit rebranded as HYBE which has been developing a number of artists which now are being marketed globally. Having Braun in the family has added many American artists who can collaborate with HYBE's Korean stable.
