I was about 13 or 14 when NSN first blew up on the scene, and I absolutely loved his music until he started getting into more band type artistry. Once he released Time Travel is about the time I stopped keeping up with his newer music because he kind of lost that aesthetic that everyone during that era flocked to him for. But hearing how everything turned out, seeing how much different he is, really is a cruel visual of how the world really can just chew you up and spit you out. Still a huge fan of his earlier music like I said, even at almost 30 years old, that part of me will never die, I wish the best for him and hope he turns it all around.
Chris is a really smart, talented guy. Troubled, for sure. I’m around his age and grew up in Joplin and ran around social circles he frequented. Seemed like there was a switch around 2011-2012 when he started really getting into heavy psychedelics. It was so sad to hear about his brother, David. I’m sure that couldn’t have helped any problems he was having.
Thank you for the insight, super interesting to hear from someone who knew him more personally, definitely a ton of talent, and I’m hoping he’s putting it towards whatever he sets his mind to.
nowadays my username is still nevershout bc NeverShoutNever was my favorite band as a teenage but i grew up as he did and it only give me good memories when i was younger, thank you chris drew for being one of my biggest inspiration when i was a teenage
NSN is and always will be my favorite band of all time. As a fan that has stayed loyal, I've definitely seen even more bits and pieces that show the good, bad and ugly. I've met him a few times, and even the first time, when he almost slipped through undetected and my annoying overexcited teenage self outed him as he walked by, he was so sweet. I did see a documentary about Warped Tour and he was talking about missing out on his childhood a little, and he was injured and these girls still wouldn't leave him alone. I saw interviews about girls hiding in his dressing room. I saw girls at a concert trying to light other girls on fire for blocking their view. Back when all he wanted was the spread peace. I feel awful for him, and there have been little things he's mentioned more recently that make so much sense. His brother was also obviously a big trigger, and his brother had mental issues WITHOUT all the drugs and fame, so it clearly ran in the family. I will miss NSN forever, but I know he needs his peace. He claims there will be one last tour next year, but you never know until you know. If I was good at videos I could have a whole series myself, but I've already rambled too much.
It's hard to ignore how good of an album Time Travel is, but I have a real soft spot for Sunflower. I think the Time Travel / Indigo / Sunflower era was the best for me.
I’d give anything to go back in time and go to one of their concerts. I never had the chance back then but to this day I still know the lyrics of all their songs and to sing them with a bunch of people who know them too would just be 🔥
I'm still listening to those pioneer albums. NSN is such a huge musical influence from my teen days! One of my favorite song is Raindrop Bluez. such a deep song!
A sad story indeed man!! The reality is we are only human. No matter what though anytime I listen to Big City dreams It'll instantly take me back to being 16 years old in 2009.
When my mom died it put me in a state of shock and I have felt weird as hell ever since and since my grandma died a few months ago I feel even worse so 1 death can really change everything depends on the person,
Growing up, my dad and I never agreed on anything especially my taste in music. That all changed when he heard me listening to 30 days by NSN and proceeded to go full fan girl mode asking who the band was and if they’re playing in the area anytime soon bc “wow what a voice”
The Bryan Stars interview? A funeral in real time. The band looked like hostages who lost a bet. Far-left guy: pure haze victim, dissociating like it was his new job. Drew? Walking HR disaster, probably one tantrum away from implosion. Mustache guy on the right? The Switzerland of the group-neutral, detached, and dodging drama like Neo in The Matrix.
Yesss I remember watching the interview that was shown in this video and being like “yeah Chris you tell him” 😂 now I’m like dang he’s kinda being a jerk lol
I know how it feels to lose a brother, feelings of why do I deserve any of this. Maybe Drew felt a similar feeling and couldn't emotionally connect with the band or the music any longer. Grieving can be a very impactful device, and can change your behaviors, sleeping patters, diet. The channel probably didn't intentionally brush over that, but could see how that might have effected him.
so funny watching that interview back now with my wife. Bryan was acting like a baby & wouldn't just stick to real questions when they kept asking. He was rude to everyone behind the scenes anyways. I used to feel really bad for him when I was a kid watching that video lol
Wow… i never knew he turned out to be an abuser… I knew drugs destroyed him but never knew how low he sank… to think I literally tried drugs because of him. I’m so thankful I made it out. Drugs are evil man.
Everyone has their vices, some people just can’t control them. I totally understand where you’re coming from, a lot of addicts in my family, very happy you made it out ❤️
brian stars was- an interesting youtuber- hes uh- kinda a sus character though- take the entirety of mde into account, he started that as an adult with teenagers
Idk, everyone knew what Bryan’s interview style was by that point, they knew what kind of interview they were getting into. They could have just said no. Seems stupid then to have him drive 7 hrs just to embarrass him.
His music was so amazinggggg when I was in Year 8. I was 14 years old at the time, so 2008. I loved him so much haahah I found him on some random forum. I never liked eatmewhilei'mhot
Can you please do a video on cobra starship ! It’s weird that at one point they were on top of the world and then they just vanished from fame. I’m glad they reunited for wwwy tho . 🥹
Thank you so much for checking out this video! Make sure to follow us on all of our socials! linktr.ee/thenoskipshow
I owe a few good one nighters to Christopher Drew. Knowing how to play Trouble on a uke in 2011 was all a guy needed in those days lol
Omg it sure worked on me 😅
Feel this
lOl so true
Yes it was. I was getting it left and right because of this song lol
Lmaooooooo
Drugs and mental health struggles. His brother being gunned down by police during a mental health episode sent him off the edge I think.
100% agreed
Source about his brother?
@@MegaNancyLover just search it online?

Nice video! NSN was so amazing. The impact and influence they had was remarkable...
One of the most underrated bands ever.
Thank you so much! And oh yeah their influence is still felt today, even after 15 years
He was such a huge influence on me when I was growing up and I’ll never forget that. I wish him nothing but the absolute best ❤

You forgot about his album Sunflower. That didn't make a whole lot of noise but I thought it was one of their best albums of all time
FR
Advent Of Violet Soul is also a beautiful album, but these posers think NSN is just Trouble and Can't Stand It
This kid had everything i dreamed of yet i feel nothing but sadness for the guy
He influence the music scene even post malone and xxxtentation inspired by chris style back then and until now.
Very true!

My girl said his baby moma be on tiktok claiming he’s a dead beat still
I'll never forget the breakup announcement during the mexico city concert, I'm still wearing the bracelet I brought that day

Same, I wish SOOO bad that I could have seen him live at least one time. I had the opportunity once but my dad wouldn't let me go. So sad
I went to school with the band. Didn't know them personally but all seemed down to earth
Love chris! I’m glad I got to see him live and still listening to his music I hope he gets all the healing he deserves it 🙏🏾🦋

I forgot how Brian star was problematic 😮 I know he's not the reason for this video, just almost forgot about Bryan star completely lol
Oh yeah there’s a lot on him, maybe I’ll plan a bryanstars dedicated video soon 👀
