I'm probably the biggest Marvin Gaye fan you can find . I'm 76 I heard Donny Hathaway do this in early seventies when it first came out simply outstanding one of the best at what he does this young man in this band. Wow tremendous job. Dueling pianos simply awesome I'm a boxing coach but I played in the late 60s and early 70s I played a Hammond B3 organ start playing again almost fifty years later I was so excited to play again I've got almost 6 Hammond organs and one Fender Rhodes. Nowhere in the class of these guys they're simply beautiful job I got carried away a little❤
Marvin & Donnie are smiling down from heaven as you did these songs RIGHTEOUSLY!!! Peace & Gratitude to you all
Jake Luttrell is the REAL DEAL...
Yes he is! Thanks for watching/listening
I'm obsessed with Donny Hathaway's arrangement of this song. It makes me so happy that you appear to love Donny Hathaway's version as much as I do. And you guys totally nailed it -- with TWO rhythm guitars, just like Donny's band. And I'm pretty sure I heard a Fred White drum fill in there. Thank you for this
You can't just by any ol' scrub and cover Marvin Gaye. He did the man proud, my goodness.
that bass fill at 3:52 is EVERYTHING
Awesome!
I completly agree !
VOCALIST TOTALLY MAXED IT OUT FROM ALL PERSPECTIVES. RAISED THE BAR ABOVE 100%. NATURALY.
I just don't know what to say. Phenomenal
this is the one of best "What's Going" On cover
mad skills with those vocals Jacob. awesome performance
Amazing. Someone is smiling down from heaven.
Less than 2k views. Criminal. Amazing voice and fantastic cover
Even 20k now is still criminal! He's a phenomenal musician!

This is a FABULOUS cover!
Mind blowing bravo
Non capirò mai perché questo spettacolo ad un certo punto finisce!
Man oh man when I was a teenager Summer of 1971 bought the album What's Going On in LA caught the bus back home to Okalahoma and when I got there I played this album before I unpacked my bags. Then later I bought an eight track and played it in my Mother's car. And I heard a lot of version of this song, but this cover by this cover in Donny Hathaway style was just great. Thumbs up all the way fellows.
Congratulations on the performance. Incredible and impeccable execution of a classic. It was a pleasure to save, enjoy, review and share. Really !!!!!!!
Wow wow and wow...thats all I'll say, and I agree with the one that said Marvin and Donnie are smiling wherever they are listening to this version❤❤
That's some voice!
what a band
Love this arrangement
❤ Wow that has the qualities of the original. .also the singing
Sparky Puppy Vibes!!
blessed!
Excellent performance and well recorded. Probably the best version bar none.
Such a great song! Such a great performance by Jacob and that magnificent band of musicians. Congrats to one and all.

He'd be pleased.
That is fire 👌
🔥 🔥 dope 🔥 🔥 🔥
My brother on the P bass is solid as concrete. So smooth yikes. Epitome of slick.
Couldn't be better, loved it! Keep on with the good work guys!
Josh Teitelbaum, so many drummers I've heard play that version yet go to hats top of the 2nd verse, instead of staying on the ride first 4 bars of that verse, I thank you!
Nice meet you! Really I love your voice and piano and your adlib !!
J'adore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching/listening. We just put out a new video with Jacob!
Wow, blessed with perfect pitch basically. Must be nice.
Incrível, lindo, maravilhoso, muita coisa bonita acontecendo ao mesmo tempo
this is so good :) love it
Would love to do a Roberta Flack- Donnie Hathaway tribute with Jacob. Im a keyboardist as well. Been singing their music too since the 70s.
GREAT TRIBUTE
Awesome cover of Donny! Like like! A bit rushy but love it, great voice and sound y'all
Rushy? I think they somehow managed to suck all the swinging groove out of this. I can’t explain how, but there’s just something wierd about it!
@@rento1973For sure, Donny's simplicity and emphasis on the backbeat with strong syllables and tastefully restrained use of vocal runs seemed to punch into the rhythm like no other. This singer is fantastic, but he plays around the grid, doesn't start lines on beat or really emphasize the backbeat, and his use of vocal runs is a little cacophanous. I'll lock into Donny's vocal rhythm any day over this one
Another awesome performance
Really amazing!!!!!!
Bass player is on fire...!
you do your thing back there Alex...I hear ya!
great version.jake killin it...who knew giovanni ribisi played such a great fender rhodes...
Love it. You guys are amazing ❤️
Great cover..! Well done
I just found yall, I AM music🤦🏽♀️
Loved this version. Amazing cover, did the original justice.
Wonderful soul heeling during corona-time
I didn't know Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad played the keys!!! Sounds great! Singer sounds great too!
Very good.
Still remember playing basketball as kids with Jacob out at the elementary school where we grew up lol
Jacob if you read comments. Please upload The Kings Return. I Love that song. You gave me the CD years ago in NY with the family. I played it until it played no more. Please upload the song to TH-cam.
Anyone else hear an 'Eyes of the World' vibe to this? Goddamn there's so much good music out there, just gotta dig a bit
Wow
Por os caras são bons. Valeu
Pretty good
🎶🎹🎙️ adorooooo muito bom envolvente ...viciante👁️👏👏💋
❤️
great
big F yeah
最高!
Great rendition of the tune. Question about the bass player: Did he attend the University of Denver for a shortwhile (about one year) back in 2007 or 2008 (or somewhere within that time frame?
Doooooope
Mother, mother
There's too many of you crying
Brother, brother, brother
There's far too many of you dying
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today, eh eh
Father, father
We don't need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today, oh oh oh
Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
Talk to me, so you can see
Oh, what's going on
What's going on
Yeah, what's going on
Ah, what's going on
Mother, mother, everybody thinks we're wrong
Oh, but who are they to judge us
Simply 'cause our hair is long
Oh, you know we've got to find a way
To bring some understanding here today
Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
C'mon talk to me
So you can see
What's going on
Yeah, what's going on
Tell me what's going on
didn't you have more keyboards? one could be hanging down from the ceiling. dope
Well alrighty then. Thank you TH-cam for this suggestion!

Saaaaangg
I just found out about Jacob because of scary pockets.. Shame this guy dont have like 2mil views or so
!!!
Can you tell us how many BPM you set, I need to do the same in Karaoke 🎤 with friends !
No Background Vocals from the band members??
Great cover! I’ve always loved this version on Donny Hathaway’s live album. Thank you for doing this! Only critique I have is the lyrics are “picket lines and picket signs” not “ticket lines and picket lines”, other than that, you nailed it!
He got it on the second pass...lol
um.. Jason Goldstein??? Why haven't I herd of you before?? Jeeeeze... 4:02 TF??
Thanks for watching! Check out the channel Family Company for more Jason, he is a beast!
gio-vanni ri-bi-si on fender rhodes...ha ha ha ha.....okay you had to be there i guess..
Great cover!! But isn't this a Marvin Gaye song?
It's done as the donny hathaway's rendition from his 1972 live LP hence the title
Who the hell voted this thumbs down?
