My father-in-law used to make maple syrup every year and I still have a jar in the refrigerator from his last batch before he passed. I have never been able to bring myself to use it. Nor could I bring myself to throw it away. It sits on the shelf on the door and serves as my little reminder of “Dad” and what he enjoyed doing every year! He has been gone 27;years.😥

So pretty! I'll eat the sides you took off. My daddy was from Maine. When we'd visit there from Texas he would always buy me maple candy from a sweet, older lady that lived in a big white house. That was 60 years ago. Such a happy memory. Thank you for this video.

Omg! I just asked yesterday on the Northern seclusion channel if they ever sold any of the homemade maple syrup and I was completely star struck when I got a reply back! Now after discovering your channel and seeing how Mr. Joe made the syrup, I can make your candy recipe! I can’t tell you how stoked I am! Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Up next Joe, make some maple cream. Growing up, my neighbors made syrup, candy and cream. I've spent many hours in the sugar shack boiling sap. I used to help tap the trees and their collection system consisted of plasctic tubing connected to each spile which all emptied into a huge holding tank. They had a pump at the tank sucking the sap from the tubing. If you have any large trees, they can support more than one tap.

tip for molds. We use wax paper w 8x11 with pleats going the length. It makes long tube shapes candy. We cut the long tube shapes up into bite size and wrap in individual sized waxed paper and twisted on the ends for the candy dish.

LOL, we live in the desert -- no maple trees here! But years ago a friend sent me some maple syrup, candy and sugar and I've never bought fake syrup again. It was such a great gift that I'm going to send her a link to remind her how much I appreciate her generosity. Please give our best to Melissa and let her know how much she is missed. She's a strong woman but dang, we all reach a limit. Thank goodness she could take off work to spend time with her family. Great job on the syrup and candy Joe. Most impressive. Those jars are going to look fantastic on those shelves downstairs.

I was told a good tip when making the candy all the loose bits that are left from the molds you can add to a food processor and pulse away to get lovely maple sugar, so yummy in coffee and teas!
